Reverend Doyal Richard Atcheson age 82, of Dallas Georgia passed away at his home on Monday February 8, 2010.

 

 

 

Rev. Doyal Atcheson was born on February 11, 1927 in Dallas Ga, the son of the late Rev. Sexton Atcheson and Gladys Bowman Atcheson. He was a member of Martinville Baptist Church. Rev. Atcheson was licensed to preach in 1961. He was ordained at Northside Baptist Church September 4, 1966 at 2:30 PM. He spent many years in service to the Lord pastoring Northside Baptist Church, Martinville Baptist Church, and Harper Lake Baptist Church. He retired his ministry upon leaving Harper Lake Baptist Church after 13 years of service. He continued in his devotion to the Lord and spent many hours reading his Bible. He worked and retired from the Sweetwater Papermill. As a child he developed a rich love of the outdoors helping his parents work in the fields. His love of the outdoors was seen in all of his favorite pastimes; hunting, fishing, and working in his garden.

 

 

 

Reverend Atcheson is survived by his son Mr. & Mrs. Jim (Carla) Atcheson; daughter Mr. & Mrs. Rick (Dorese) King all of Dallas, Ga; 8 grandchildren Star Brady, Nikia Brady, Crystal Brady, Mike O’Kelley Jr., Chelsie King, Natalie Atcheson, Alicia Atcheson, and Kimberly Atcheson; 6 great grandchildren Aidon Brady, Chezney Brady, Seth Said, Destiny Whitfield, Tristan Whitfield and Dakotah King; as well as many other beloved family members and friends. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife Mary Atcheson; his loving parents Rev. Sexton and Gladys Atcheson, 1 daughter Patty Brady; 1 sister Mary Alice Freeman; and 1 brother Harvard Atcheson.

 

 

 

Funeral services for Rev. Atcheson will be held in the chapel of Jeff Eberhart Funeral Home Thursday February 11, 2010 at 3:00 PM with the Reverends Donnie Evans and Joe Maxwell officiating. Music will be provided by Paula Roper and Nancy Stone. Pallbearers will include Mike O’Kelley Jr., Nikia Brady, Tommy Lawrence, Russell Lawrence, Ricky Freeman, and Terry Freeman. Interment will follow at Dallas Memory Gardens.

 

 

 

The family will receive friends at Jeff Eberhart Funeral Home on Wednesday February 10, 2010 from 3:00 PM – 9:00 PM and Thursday February 11, 2010 from 9:00 AM until the service begins at 3:00.
