Funeral Director Posted October 17, 2009 Report Share Posted October 17, 2009 (edited) Mrs. Annie Lucille Holmes age 85 of St. Simons Island, Ga. passed away at Hospice of the Golden Isle on Thursday October 15, 2009. She was affectionately known as "Nanny" to her loved ones. Mrs. Holmes was born in Dallas, Ga on February 26, 1924 the daughter of the late John Emmett Palmer and Annie Cohran Palmer. Mrs. Holmes was a homemaker with a passion for sewing and cooking Mrs. Annie Lucille Holmes is survived by her granddaughter Georgia Wyvonda and Steve Barrs of St. Simons Island, Ga., 1 grandson Crawford Perkins of Nashville, Tn; 1 son in law Harwell Perkins of Dallas, Ga; 1 great grandson Benjamin Barrs of St. Simons Island, Ga.; 2 brothers Joe Palmer and Edward Palmer both of Dallas, Ga. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 60 years Mr. George E. Holmes, her loving parents John Emmett Palmer and Annie Cohran Palmer, her daughter Georgia Ann Perkins, 3 brothers John Palmer and Bill Palmer and Irby Palmer; and 2 sisters Ruth Clark and Doris Washington. Funeral services will be conducted on Sunday October 18, 2009 at 1 PM in the Chapel of Jeff Eberhart Funeral Home with the Reverend Thomas Cole officiating. Pall Bearers will include Benjamin Barrs, Cullin Bragg, Jody Palmer, Ken Bragg and Jimmy Renfroe. Honorary Pall Bearers will include Dr. Antonio Moran and Dr. Mitchell Jonas. Interment will follow at Bethany Christian Church Cemetery in Dallas, Ga. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Saturday October 17, 2009 from 4PM to 9 PM, Sunday October 18, 2009 from 9 AM to the service begins at 1 PM. In lieu of flowers the family asks that donations be made in the memory of Annie Lucille Holmes to Hospice of the Golden Isle at 1692 Glynco Pkwy, Brunswick Ga, 31525.
