Funeral Director Posted September 8, 2009 Report Share Posted September 8, 2009 Mr. Jewel Overton age 86 of Powder Springs passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his family and Friends. Affectionately known as "Pa Paw" to many for the past ten years. He was a loving husband, and father, he was the "jewel" of his family's life. He was born in Clay Co ala to the late John and Emma Overton. He served in the Army in the 385th anti aircraft artillery, Battalian B during WWII. Mr. Overton worked in the Cotton Mills in Lagrange, Georgia. He loved fishing, selling bicycles to children. He is survived by his loving wife: Lee Blankenship Overton of Powder Springs Daughter: Linda & (Ronald) Lanier of Powder Springs Step Son: Jeff (Nancy) Kirkland Three Grandchildren: Ken Lanier, Ricky (Melissa) Lanier, Joe (Tressa) Lanier Seven Great Grandchildren. Brothers Paul (Cara) Overton of Montgomery, Al, Stanley (Jan) Overton, of Lanette Al, Sisters: Louise Cook of Franklin Al, & Lala Therkill of Lagrange, GA Sisters and Brother in Law: Charles and Charlene Cole & Shirley Davis, Loree Overton Several Nieces and Nephews, Many beloved friends Mr. Overton was preceded in death by his former wife of fifty years Grace Davis Overton, Beloved Stepmother: Irene Overton, Sisters: Etta Brown, Gladys Skipper, Mary Arrington, Lilly Mae Thurmond Brothers: Wayne Overton, & Mack Overton, Henry Overton Funeral Services will be held Thursday September 10, 2009 at 2pm from the Chapel of the Jeff Eberhart Funeral Home with Reverend Keith Willard and Doug Godfrey Officiating. Music to be provided by Kathy Willard. Interment will follow at Cheatham Hill Memorial Park Cemetery. Mr. Overton's Family will receive visitors at the Funeral Home on Wednesday September 9th from 6pm till 9pm and again on Thursday from 9am till the time of the service at 2pm in the Chapel Pallbearers include: Ken Lanier, Ricky Lanier, Joe Monroe, Jeff Kirkland, Jacob Kirkland, & Nick Scott You may join Mr. Overton's family in honoring his life by visiting our website at www.jeffeberhartfuneralhome.com to sign the register book and to share in memories. 770-445-4496.
