The Season in the Life Of

 

Mr. Joseph Samuel Roget, Sr.

“To everything there is a season, and a time to every purpose under the heaven.”

“A Time to Be Born”

Mr. Joseph Samuel Roget, Sr., affectionately known as “Sugar Bear”, one of five children, was born on May 12, 1941 in New York City, New York to the late Leslie A. Roget and Lula Worrell Roget.

 

 

<H1 style="MARGIN: 0in 0in 0pt">“A Time to Learn”</H1>His formal education began at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic School in New York. He later attended Machine Tool and Trade School.

 

 

<H1 style="MARGIN: 0in 0in 0pt">“A Time to Love”</H1>He married Frances Grissett in 1959. He later married Janna Garvin in 1968.

 

 

<H1 style="MARGIN: 0in 0in 0pt">“A Time to Be Fruitful”</H1>He had four children.

 

 

<H1 style="MARGIN: 0in 0in 0pt">“A Time to Serve”</H1>In 1972 he became employed at Pratt & Whitney in Middletown, Connecticut where he retired in 1994.

 

 

<H1 style="MARGIN: 0in 0in 0pt">“A Time to Die”</H1>Good times do GROW ease. The stronger wind, the tougher trees, the farther sky, the greater length, the more the storm, the more the strength, by sun and cold timber grows. JOE was a good timber. He lived a good long and blessed life. On Sunday, June 21, 2009 at 2am, God rang those golden bells for Him: He answered the call and went home.

 

 

<H1 style="MARGIN: 0in 0in 0pt">“A Time to Reflect”</H1>Precious memories will remain and a legacy cherished by his wife, Janna Garvin Roget, his children, and many more beloved family members and friends.

 

 

Mr. Joseph Roget, Sr. is survived by his wife, Janna Garvin Roget of Dallas, GA; 3 sons and daughter-in-law, Joseph & Crystal Roget, II of New Jersey, Marlo Garvin of Milford, Connecticut, and Wayne Roget of Middletown, Connecticut; daughter and son-in-law, Rodney & Arcena Roget Privott of Middletown, Connecticut; 16 grandchildren, and 5 great grandchildren; 2 brothers and sister-in-law, Leslie A. Roget of Brooklyn, New York and Andre & Jeannie Roget of Las Vegas, Nevada; 2 sisters and brother-in-law, Delores & Ralph Birkett of Las Vegas, Nevada and Barbara Roget Banks of New York; wife of many years, Frances Grissett Roget of Middletown, Connecticut; mother and father-in-law, Deacon & Mrs. Woodrow Garvin, Sr. of South Carolina; a host of nieces, nephews, grand nieces, grand nephews, and many other beloved family members and friends.

 

Funeral services will be conducted from the chapel of Jeff Eberhart Funeral Home on Tuesday, June 23, 2009 at 6pm with Rev. Johnie Sims officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Monday evening from 5pm until 9pm and again on Tuesday from 9am until the service begins at 6pm. Following the services the body of Mr. Joseph Roget, Sr. will be taken to Doolittle Funeral Home in Middletown, Connecticut where visitation will be held on Thursday, June 25, 2009 from 5pm until 7pm. Funeral services will then be held on Friday, June 26, 2009 at 12:30pm at the Doolittle Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will follow at Rose Hill Cemetery in Rocky Hill, Connecticut. You may contact Doolittle Funeral Home at 860-346-6464. Jeff Eberhart Funeral Home in Dallas, Georgia is in charge of funeral arrangements for Mr. Joseph Roget, Sr.
