Funeral Director
A spiritual man took his rest today, the 24th day of February, 2009. This man's name was Wayne Russell Landers. The man who carried this name since January 20, 1947, touched his mother and father Classie and Lonnie Landers with his birth along with his entire family there near Hatton, Alabama. There were ten children born to the Landers family and now many, many more as grandchildren and the like, and he cherished them all. His brothers and sister are Herman, Gurnie, Evelyn, Lorene, Hilda, Hershel, Sherman, Christine and Carolyn. Wayne touched thousands with his kindness, compassion, thoughtfulness, and love. On August 25, 1965 after having been school mates since the first grade, Wayne married his lifelong love, Syble Dean McKelvy. They soon began a family in Decatur, Alabama with their two adored children Michael Wayne Landers and Angela Landers Robinson. Both Wayne and Dean have touched hundreds of lives with the Kingdom message as they served together as Jehovah's Witnesses. He served as an elder for many years helping others with fears and problems, and to cope with this present system of things. His hope was sure, his faith unwavering. He was an incredible person always serving others. He made many friends every place he worked, lived and served. Just a few years ago he received two great bundles of joy with the birth of his grandchildren Joshua Micayne and Abigail Dawn Landers. Both his children are married, and Wayne loved both Marc Robinson and Marina Landers as his own children, always guiding and loving them without reservation. Wayne made everyone he touched feel happy and safe and little more human. He loved his God Jehovah, and followed the road that leads to everlasting life, and he asked that any who would, follow that course as well. Wayne and Dean gave their children that same zeal and hope, and they are serving that course today. Like the father of all humankind, Jehovah, who teaches, who also directs and never fails to love his children, the same can be said about the beautiful man Wayne Landers, who never failed his family. He always loved and trained and guided his wife and children even until the very end. He cared for his ailing wife like none other. Jehovah the Happy God took notice of Wayne, the happy man, who spread happiness to everyone he touched. May he rest in Jehovah's memory until the words of Christ Jesus are fulfilled in the book of John 5:28-9 where the Lord says, "Do not marvel at this, for the hour is coming in which all those in the memorial tombs will hear Christ's voice and come out….To a resurrection of Life". Wayne knew these words and believed them completely, so rest now daddy; we will see you soon in the paradise… A memorial service will be held on Saturday March 7, 2009 at 3 PM Central Time with Minister Paul Bangs officiating at the Decatur Shrine Club located at 1117 Lenwood Road, S. W. , Decatur, Alabama 35601. A second memorial service will be held on Sunday March 8, 2009 at 6:30 PM Eastern Time with Minister Jonathan Dozier officiating at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses located at 4850 Ewing Road, Austell, Georgia 30106.
