Hanson

Mr. Dorsey Newton Hanson, age 57, of Douglasville, formerly of Hiram, passed away on Sunday, January 30, 2005. He was born on June 2, 1947 in Austell to Mary Nell Cheney and the late Grady Newton Hanson. He was a retired Air Force and Navy veteran and a charter member of the VFW Post 5408 in Acworth, GA and of the American Legion Post 111 in Dallas, GA. Mr. Hanson was a member of the Knights of Columbus Lodge 5204 in Michigan. He was a volunteer at Kennestone Hospital and received a Doctorate from the Emory School of Medicine in 1996.

Surviving are his son, Charles Samuel Hanson of Morgantown, Kentucky; his daughters, Terri Len Hanson and Diana Faye Hanson, both of Morgantown, Kentucky; his mother, Mary Nell Cheney of Douglasville; brothers and sisters-in-law, Richard and Karen Hanson of Jonesboro and Eugene and Brenda Cheney of Boulder, Colorado; sisters and brothers-in-law, Anice and Richard Murawski of Douglasville, Katherine Hanson Preston of Douglasville, Danita Sherman Harris of Rome, GA, Debbie and Jim Deres of Monroe, Michigan, Lora Cheney Jennings of Techumseh, Michigan and Lisa Cheney of Rome, GA; his ex-wife, Tonya Hanson of Morgantown, Kentucky; many nieces and nephews.

A memorial service will be held on Friday, February 4, 2005 at 7:00 p.m. from Clark Funeral Home in Hiram, GA with Mr. John Melvin officiating. The family will receive friends one hour before the service time. The body was cremated. Clark Funeral Home in Hiram, GA in charge of arrangements.
