Ultra Limo
Winter is here and with the change in season comes the planning for Holiday parties. Ultra Limousine, LLC has some helpful advice for those who may be hiring a limousine service as your designated driver for your special event. Be aware of illegal limousine companies that schedule trips without the proper permits and operating authority. Under Georgia law (O.C.G.A. §46-7-85.3 and 46-7-85.4), all limousine companies are required to be registered and have proof of insurance on file with the Georgia Public Service Commission. A list of the licensed companies can be found on the Commission’s website: www.psc.state.ga.us. It is not an option to register a for hire limousine service with the State of Georgia, is it a state law to ensure that all companies operate within certain guidelines for the safety of all customers of the company and the citizens who look to the PSC for assistance. Chauffeurs who drive for licensed carriers are required to have permits which are only issued after successful completion of a criminal history investigation. A carrier operating illegally will not have the Commission’s required proof of insurance and a chauffeur working for an illegal carrier will not have passed the mandatory background investigation. The criminal background and history check is very important because you don’t want just anyone driving you or your family. You want the best, most professional and law abiding chauffeur to ensure your family’s safety and well being throughout the evening. If consumers need more information about a limousine carrier or if you have a complaint, contact the Commission’s Transportation Section at 404-656-4501. Helpful tips and suggestions • Many companies require a minimum of 4-6 hours for rentals and the standard driver tip is 20% so be sure to find out each companies requirements. • Reserve the vehicle early, preferably as soon as you’re event date is set. A last-minute limo search is more likely to result in paying too much or you end up with a vehicle that is less than adequate for your arrival in style. • Make sure that the driver will wear an appropriate uniform. The last thing you want is a funeral home limousine showing up and the driver wearing attire as if he just left a rock concert. • Sign a contract. You'll want the full terms in writing, including the deposit and cancellation policies, price, and confirmation of all dates, times, and locations. • Ask about extras such as refreshments, vehicle features, prom packages, etc. Ultra Limousine provides soft drinks and bottled water, a disposable camera for the prom group and color coordinated drink ware napkins that match school colors for the prom group being transported. • If you have your heart set on a certain color of vehicle be sure to specify the color of vehicle you desire at the time of your reservation. • Make sure the driver knows your plans. Your destination and stops need to be passed on to the company so the driver isn’t being led blindly without knowing where you want to go throughout your time in the vehicle.
