Funeral Director Posted March 27, 2008 Report Share Posted March 27, 2008 Mrs. Ruby Irene Hamrick Cheatwood Brown, age 67, passed away March 27, 2008 at Wellstar Community Hospice at Tranquility after an extended fight with cancer. She was born January 18, 1941 in Cleburne, Al. She is survived by her husband of twelve years, James O'Donald Brown, Two Sons: Ricky(Carleen)Cheatwood of Dallas Ga, John(Mitzi)Cheatwood of Simpsonville SC; Two Daughters: Melissa(Jeff)Ballew of Hiram Ga, Susan(Patrick)Amos of Villa Rica Ga; One Brother: Curtis(Linda)Hamrick of Waco Ga, Special Aunt Orene Hamrick of piedmont Al, And special Cousin (Brother)Phillip Hamrick of Childsburg Al, Brothers and Sisters in Laws, Nieces and Nephews, Eleven Grandchildren and Two Great Grandchildren. Mrs. Brown is preceded in death by her first husband Rev. Roderick John Cheatwood, Both parents Isaac and Eldora Hamrick, One Brother Paul Hamrick, One Grandson Matthew Ballew, and Special Uncle Silas Hamrick. Mrs. Brown was a member of New Georgia Baptist Church and worked in several churches in Cobb, Douglas, Haralson and Paulding Counties. She was a 1959 Graduate of Cleburne County High School of Heflin Al, She went into nursing in 1961, Mrs. Brown was a 1974 Graduate in Theology at Immanual Baptist College. She was a 1977-1982 Charter member, Treasurer, and President of Atlanta West Federal Credit Union; 1979 Employee of the month Atlanta West Hospital. In 1994, she was appointed Paulding County Secretary of the year by the Chamber of Commerce. She had several years in Nursing and received her certification to teach before retiring in 1999. She received several other awards and achievements. She was a loving wife, mother, Grandmother, Great Grandmother and most of all a Christian, saved by the Grace of God and a Baptist by choice. Pallbearers will be: Brandon Amos, Cameron Amos, Sam Ballew, Caleb Cheatwood, Evan Cheatwood, Timothy Cheatwood, Zack Cheatwood, Corey Dunn. Alternate Pallbearers: Dwight Hamrick, Phillip Hamrick, and James Hamrick. Honorary Pallbearers: Lauren Ballew, Kaden Amos, Gavin Cheatwood, Haylee Cheatwood, Tori Cheatwood, Katrina Cheatwood, Victory Sunday School Class, Roy Sparks, Jason Sparks, Brandon Merritt, Timothy Merritt, Rick Richardson, Junior Cross, Deacons of New Georgia Baptist Chruch. The family will receive Friends Friday March 28, 2008 from 5:00pm to 9:00pm and Saturday morning from 9:00am til time of Service. Funeral Services will be held at Jeff Eberhart Funeral Home Chapel 2:00pm Saturday March 29, 2008. Officiated by Dr. James Burdette (Sr. Pastor), Pastor Keith Stell, and Brother Derek Fielder of New Georgia Baptist Church Interment to follow in Powder Springs Memorial Gardens.
