Marion Thurmond age 83 of Dallas passed away August 18, 2007, He was born March 17, 1924 in Dallas,Ga., son of the late Snowden Thurmond and Carrie Robbins Thurmond. Mr. Thurmond was retired from Fulton County Board of Education as Heavy equipment operator, he was a member of New Hope Baptist Church where he served as a deacon since 1956 and a member of Dallas Masonic Lodge 182 F&AM since 1984. Survived by Wife of 62 years, Dora Dean Thurmond, Dallas, Ga. Son Michael and Shirley Thurmond, Dallas, Ga. Daughter Joyce and Billy Atcheson, Dallas, Ga. Brother Kenneth and JoAnne Thurmond, Epworth, Ga. Grandchildren Jeff and Pam Atcheson, Joey and Jamie Thurmond. Great Grandchildren Brandy Atcheson, Jesse Atcheson, Tyler Thurmond, Joey Saxton, Several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, August 21, 2007 at 11AM from Clark Funeral Home Chapel, with Rev. Doy Willingham and Joey Thurmond officiating. Internment to follow in Dallas Memory Gardens with Masonic honors. The family will receive friends at the Funeral home on Monday, August 20, 2007 from 5-9pm. www.samclarkfuneralhome.com.
