Charles "C.W." William Brooks, Sr.- May 27, 1922 - July 16, 2016

Mr. Charles William Brooks, Sr., age 94 of Dallas, GA passed away on Saturday, July 16, 2016 at Wellstar Paulding Hospital. He was born on May 27, 1922 in Dallas, GA to Will and Bertha Brooks who preceded him in death. He grew up with three loving siblings, Hubert Brooks, Louise Brooks Daughtry, and Johnny Brooks, all now deceased.


Known as C. W. to his many friends, he and his beloved wife Grace Mitchell Brooks spent 71 years together until her passing in May 2014.


Their lives included many memorable experiences. They spent their early years in the Army stationed at Ft. Lee, VA. C. W. worked in the office and Grace served as a dental assistant on base. One of C.W.’s early jobs after returning from military service was at Bell Bomber Plant where he was to search out and recover misplaced airplane parts. Much of C. W.’s professional life was focused on his work for Cudahy Foods. Starting as a salesman, he rose to the position of Atlanta Plant Manager. After more than 35 years at Cudahy, C. W. established American Foods Sales, an independent food brokerage for another 20+ years of active business enterprise.


Mr. Brooks is survived by his sons and daughter-in-laws, Charlie and Audrey Brooks and Joe and Kellie Brooks, both of Dallas, GA; daughter, Kathy Mawk of Marietta, GA; grandchildren, Leigh Anne Lindsey, Kaylee Wade, and Will Brooks all of Dallas, GA; great-grandchildren Kristen Hosbach of Acworth, GA, Morgan Lindsay, Landon Wade, Ledger Wade, Peyton Brooks, and Coleson Brooks all of Dallas, GA; great-great grandson, Jude Hosbach of Acworth, GA.


Funeral services for Mr. Brooks will be held on Monday, July 18, 2016, at 11:00 AM, in the Clark Funeral Home Chapel, with Dr. Wayne Meadows & Reverend Don Rackley officiating. Interment will follow at Poplar Springs Cemetery, with Will Brooks, Kyle Wade, Morgan Lindsey, Patrick Lindsey, Bill Mitchell, Steve Mitchell, Charles Brock, Dave Brooks, and Jordan Hosbach serving as pallbearers.


The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Sunday, July 17, 2016, from 4:00 PM until 8:00 PM.


In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Poplar Springs Cemetery Fund, in honor of Charles William Brooks, Sr.
