  1. And if we are awaiting more drilling to provide jobs for our bleak economy. don't hold your breathe. If given the OK today, it would be 3 to 5 years before any drilling rigs would be ready to put into service.

Price volitility would have moved in and out of several cycles by then. Is the government going to foot the bill to bankroll this speculative operation as well, and when completed, who owns what ?

The oil we have left will be costly to extract from the ground. It is there, but not readily flowable and easy to recover. And, the RagHeads can shoot the price down to kill any profits should they so choose to.

Best long term solution for us is to cut consumption to the point the price stays low and does not pay to get the high dollar oil out of the ground. Leave it for the future.

But that means a change of mind set here on what we drive and what we consume. Time to address that or stay at the mercy of those who have the oil which is still cheap to pump.

3 to 5 years? wow, you are right, what's the use of investing 3 to 5 years into something that affects our future.

Thanks surepip!!! I think I will tell my kids not to bother with college...why waste 4 years on something that will affect their futures!

Hey!! Where do we find one those cars that runs on magical rays of sunshine and dreams??

Maybe Obama's Government Motors will hire Al Gore to help invent one.

  2. Start a business that will pay you in cash. That way you can continue to draw unemployment (at the expense of your former employer) while you build up your own business. Or, you can always put the business in your husband's name, customers write him the checks and you work for free! ;)

  3. No - you should only foster a child if the money is not an issue/deciding factor. My grandmother fostered around 70 kids in her lifetime. Believe me, it was NEVER for or about the money.

The allowance given for these children is so miniscule that many times it actually requires twice that amount to sucessfully provide for that child.

As has been noted in previous posts, many of these children come from traumatic backgrounds. What they really need is the focus of a loving guardian. Not someone who will do it if the money's good.

    Ya dig?

But she did get paid, right? Regardless of the amount. I believe that is what the OP was asking.

I don't think she was wanting to make a career out of it.

  4. People that work in a day care are paid, it doesn't mean they love the kids or their job any less.

So, I see nothing wrong with finding out what it pays to foster a child as it is basically the same thing.

  5. First of all why don't you get your story straight before you go and assume stuff. This girl has mitochondria and insurance will not pay for her to have any treatment done. FOR YOUR INFORMATION HER DAD AND MOM DO WORK. They are just trying to help there little girl out by getting money so they pay for her to get treat that cost a lot more then even me or you much let they can pay together. SO DON'T ASSUME stuff before you ask what is wrong and why they are doing it. THANKS

Whoa, you been holding this in since last May??? Find a more recent post to beat us up about!

  6. Truth hurts. The main issue is that she's obviously Muslim. People's extreme prejudice, not to mention their ignorance, is glaring. This judge included.

A "social style" is completely different than a religious observance, required by their faith. As I pointed out earlier, if this has been a white man with a Yamaka on, would he have been asked to take it off [Orthodox Jewish faith]? If it had been a white woman with a Snood on [Quaker/Mennonite/Amish], would she have been asked to take it off? Or arrested? I HIGHLY doubt it.

They probably wouldn't have been arrested, more than likely they would have observed the rules of the court.

Sucks to be a defiant Muslim in Douglasville

  7. Wii is overpriced to me. Bought my daughter one for Christmas, played baseball and bowling with her. It was okay fun, but not worth the money in my opinion.

Guitar Hero and Rock Band are still the games to play in our house!!

  8. Just wandering if anybody else is going to the AC/DC concert tomorrow night at Phillips.

We will be there in section 210 with the whole family!

Its kind of a family tradition with us.

AC/DC was my first concert in 1982

My wife's first concert in 1985

Our son's first concert in 1997

and now our daughter's first concert in 2008

    I'm just a cool dad!! B)
