  1. You know him? I've talked to a couple of people who know him and they say that he's a great guy. They say that he is congenial, easy to talk to - just a wonderful person. All that most people hear about him is the tabloid stuff and that seems to be all alcohol related. I'd be interested if you personally know him, though and have a different perspective from the folks I've talked to who know him!
  2. To begin with, I cook for myself. Typically, my wife and I don't eat the same things, so I fix whatever appeals to me. I make casseroles, combine curious combinations that look and smell and taste fantastic! "What are you making?", she'll ask. I always reply -- "It doesn't have a name". If I'm fixing for myself, what's the point of giving it a name? So I was just wondering -- if anyone else does this? Or do you always name your food. If so, why?
  3. There's no clear referent. Context and proximity should provide clues. They don't. The way it's written, advertisers would be wasting their money. They.... (this makes one think that "advertisers" are "they".) But that makes no sense in this context. You have to go all the way back to the part about "self-proclaimed liberals" to figure out who "they" possibly are. Cut out the junk in between and you have this: Because most of those self proclaimed liberals don't give a crap about learning things, they just prefer to have their ordained speakers TELL them who / what to vote for.
  4. I think that DAP is yelling, "Citizen's Arrest!! Citizen's Arrest!! in his best GOMER voice.
  5. I'm saying that if a church's income and property are tax exempt, the church is profiting from that status. Would you disagree? If it profits from its status then its revenue is not "on its own dime", but requires the tax exclusion for its existence. Would you disagree? Your statement was this: ["... any entity that that is suppling information "with their own opinions/views/slant" should be doing so on their own dime."] Any entity. In other words, if NPR were tax-exempt, do you think that they should lose that status for "supplying information with their own opinions, views, sla
  6. I'm glad that you feel that way about Public Radio! And churches!! Their own opinions, view, slant -- shouldn't be tax exempt. It should be, as you say, On their own dime! I agree! Any entitiy.
  7. You're right Mark! It's a challenge for people to consider a mindset of self-determination - especially those who are out of a job. I think that it just makes sense to consider taking matters into your own hands instead of waiting for the right situation to come around. Times are changing so fast that sometimes a person's skill sets become not so much in demand anymore. Then what? I think that something I said struck a minor chord with "dude" and sent him into a funk. I prescribe gin and juice and singing Karaoke w/ C. Mark Willix! Actually, Mark, I was just agreeing with your take on
  8. I would like to take issue with that description of Deal supporters. The term is redundant, unless there are some progressive, forward-thinking hicks in these-here parts. I think that the fact that a scoundrel has ANY supporters is testimony to the fact that the dynamics behind our political system is broken. The problem is worse than hicks who are ignorant. The problem is that people CHOOSE to ignore all other factors, other than political parties. Party politics is troubling. We're divided up between Red and Blue States! This is by design, the underlying message is that there are two
  9. Hell yes, C. Mark Willix! THIS is the mindset that SO many americans need to embrace! Entrepreneurship! If a person is THAT valuable to a big company, then he or she will be destined for success in small business. Some people are afraid that they will "lose their benefits", primarily insurance benefits. Here's what I think about insurance: It's socialism. What could be more socialistic? Yet, even the most right-wing nut-job who cries "socialism" at every turn clings for dear life to his policy. It's the insurance company betting that you WON'T get sick. It's you betting that you
  10. And the moon's not even full until Saturday. No tellin' what's going to happen between now and then!!! On the other hand, it could be argued that some people are in a perpetual full moon snarky mood.
  11. Not if you're the landlord! One of the problems in this country is that there's a renter's mentality instead of an owner's mentality.
  12. She'll be going to prom soon!! LGM, you have to be bursting with pride! You've done a great job as a mom and no one can ever truly appreciate all that you do.
  13. It might be beneficial to just stay away from certain topics. And there are a few posters out there with whom it's just impossible to carry on an intelligent discussion. Okay - More than a few!
  14. Still, I'd rather hear, "my pleasure" than (what SOOOOO many youngsters say nowadays) -- No Problem!
  15. That's a really important point - viability! Who wants to be stuck with this great big abandoned piece of property that has no other purpose? If it's not Saks and Neiman Marcus and Bloomingdale's anchoring the mall with a 50 year lease - forget it! This is certainly not the right economy for those big box retailers to come into Paulding County! Furthermore, I'd say, let the crimes that occur at malls stay down at Arbor Place! Now, it's my turn on the soapbox: Why doesn't everyone get behind small businesses? Why don't people believe in entreprenuership? Everyone who live
  16. Yes, Madea! That is such an advantage! Who hasn't gone into a mall not knowing exactly where in the mall something is -- Only to find out that it's at the other end! Then you have to lug your purchase back through the mall to wherever it was that you parked your car. It's so much better to park in front of a shop, walk in and walk out with your purchase about 20 feet from your vehicle!
  17. I can't remember the last time I went to a mall! They are overpriced and there's not much personal service. Dick's are is better.
  18. Yes! And part time labor means that you get crappy service, because the person is either over-qualified and doesn't want to be there or undertrained and doesn't want to be there -- or both! Somebody has to pay for the expensive mall rent - That would be the customer!
  19. I personally don't see the attraction of malls. There wouldn't be any businesses headquartered in Paulding County located there. There WOULD be more overpriced chain stores. There are already more stores than there is business in PC! Several strip centers are nearly vacant! I think that no anchor stores (Macy's, Belk, Saks, etc) would locate on 278. I think that the benchmark is about 12 miles from an existing Mall. So -- it's pretty much not going to happen. It would be good if folks could support local, family-owned businesses! The money would tend to stay in Paulding County!
  20. It might be a good time to warn people about walking in the woods. Today is opening day of "primative weapons" season for deer. That's blackpowder rifles plus archery, which has been in season for a few weeks now. I'm headed out soon for one of these:
  21. There are a lot of possibilities for UFOs. The worst explanation is that they come from another solar system. Just look at it this way - They have the technology to fly a billion miles to get here, but not the technology to communicate with us? They don't actually show themselves - they're too what -- shy??? They go a billion miles and fly around a little at night and say "to hell with it!" and go back home???
  22. I think that the interest in the teat party has all kinds of yahoos jumping on the bandwagon. Many of them are opportunists looking to bilk the system however they can. There's a bunch of scoundrels in the mix - more than usual this time, it seems. One reality looms large: There is no Teat Party! It's just Republicans Rebranding. No doubt that a woman who would assault her husband with scissors has a screw or two loose. She filed a false claim. She'll fit in perfectly with the Republican Scoundrels that have plagued our nation. The foundation of our nation is crumbling while neoknotheads
