  1. I get what TP is saying, but I disagree with his conclusion. What I hear him saying is that the formulations support a scientifc causation to the universe, as opposed to a supernatural one. Evolution is the story of Rise, which isn't addressed by Einstein's theories. Maybe he'll come back here to show where I'm wrong about this. I guess technically he's right, though. Einstein's work was MORE about evolution than it is about faith. It wasn't about faith at all!
  2. I appreciate the effort put into the response. I'll address it thoughtully tomorrow. Tonight -- It's sleep-time!!!
  3. So --- facetiousness aside -- what do you think? And if you haven't thought about it, that's cool, too. I was taking a cross-country flight and needed something to do for several hours, so I contemplated the nature of time. My first thought was that it was a totally human construct, broken down into units which we use to mark events. So I took people out of the equation and time still existed. The tendency to perpetuate, being acted upon by time, to degrade -- that means that time is real! Exactly what time is and producing the proper formula for it - Those things will have to happen
  4. I'd call it a "misuderstanding". You must know that polytheistic cultures believed in creationism, too! They predate "genesis" by thousands of years! The misuderstandings are there because --- lack of an understanding of science. We KNOW that the world isn't flat! Science! We KNOW that the sun "rising" is the effect of the earth rotating on its axis as it revolves around the sun - there's no giant chariot hauling a fireball across the sky! It's science. I think that science trumps all myths and legends and claims of supernature. It's no surprise to me that more people than ever are
  5. Most people today think of time as a linear phenomenon. Like this: ___________________________________________________________________>>> Birth High school graduation marriage divorce remarriage retirement It's incredibly simplistic to address the concept of time with the adage, "you're only as old as you act". Time involves the aging process, but the aging process doesn't begin to describe time. It doesn't say what time is. Looking at time in a linear fashion, time travel would be a possibility because time includes "points in time".
  6. How did you come to that understanding?
  7. What is time? Most people look at it as being linear - a time line. I think that time exists as a force. Time doesn't move quickly or slowly. It doesn't move at all. It is. We move through time. What this seems to mean is that previous notions of time travel have no application in reality. There's no place to travel to, since time isn't linear. What do you all think about the nature of time?
  8. Yes, absolutely. The disorder is called "exogenous obesity"!
  9. How about eight months? Tell me that this child who can't crawl because he's so fat, isn't obese! http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-499925/Obese-8-months-baby-tips-scales-3-stone.html
  10. Easter Candy??? Where? I admit, I don't shop much. but t.v. ads still on promoting Xmas and stores wishing you merry xmas on 12/29??? It's like somebody saying "happy easter" in June! Oh yeah. Earth. You bought xmas presents after xmas? For whom, out of curiosity --- and why???
  11. That chickens come from eggs? Or that dinosaurs existed millions of years ago and predate man? You think that carbon dating, scientific/mathmatical computations, scientific evidence - they're mere "speculation"???
  12. You think that the XMAS shopping season usually extends to New Year's? In the past, it's been that the 26th meant people taking back stuff - the buying was over!
  13. The exact wording that a person uses tells a lot about the person and what's going on with him or her. There is a fascination with human behavior, I'll admit. If you don't want the content of your posts to be scrutinized by me, then put me on ignore. It's that simple. I've made the suggestion before, but you insist on continuing discussions that you say you don't want to be a part of. I WANT to be a part of any discussion on PCOM, including those with you. If you don't want to talk to me and don't want me talking to you, put me on ignore. If you DO want to continue discussing things with m
  14. I saw a dinosaur skeleton recently. It was millions of years old. There are no human skeletons that old and no chicken skeletons. From what do you think chickens evolved? I know - eggs.
  15. I won't jump your butt. I eat deer meat regularly. Certain pathogens are transmissible only from certain animals/insects to other animals/insects. Cooking kills the pathogens. Deer meat isn't for everyone, though. It's leaner, has no injected hormones and is more healthful. But, to each his/her own! Don't freak out!
  16. Consider that early humans were animalistic, both in terms of their social order and, to a degree, their appearance. It's not pleasant to think of your grandmother from a thousand generations ago was subject to the needs of the pack. You're descended from these folks! It's more pleasant to think of our forefathers and foremothers as civilized, with organized lives, but that's only very recent history! But really, what difference does it make how we got here, who we're descended from --- We're here and living as the most advanced people in the history of creation. Don't let the warm s
  17. There are a certain number of people who will use any excuse for not paying their fair share. I look at it this way - I use PCOM, so I pay. It's a unique social medium that I want to support.
  18. I have to admit that I usually go on vacation during my vacations. But I've never had a tree in the house after about 12/27! That's procrastinating for me! I can't wait for the Xmas season to be over!
  19. Happy New Year''s EVE!! Y'all be careful!
  20. No. XMAS. Xmas is the secular holiday where people go out and buy stuff that their friends and familiy either don't need or could buy for themselves. It did, indeed start around August and the stores were brimming with Xmas merchandise before Halloween. It used to be that Xmas began right after Thanksgiving. But it's starting earlier and ending later than ever before. Next year, what? The twelve MONTHS of XMAS? By the way, I suggest that everyone embrace Xmas as the term associated with the secular aspect of the holiday. Santa has nothing to do with religion, right? Other than, "he sees y
  21. What's your reason for not providing parenting classes? I'm talking about basic parenting skills, like taking your kid's temperature, when to take him to the hospital, structuring the home for learning and safety and providing a good social environment for the child. What would be wrong with that? Lifestyle differences? I think that's my point.
  22. That's a big baby! Obese is different. It's weight, body composition, compared to height/length. However -- there's no such thing as "big-boned". That's a euphemism for "carrying excessive weight", even if the weight is more evenly distributed than those who have it all in the middle.
  23. The idea here is to improve your overall health! If you drink enough Cuervo to get you crawling, there ain't enough crawling exercise in the world to make up for the liver and brain damage! I'll be turning in early tonight! Outdoor pursuits tomorrow start early!
  24. I think that more information is needed! There's certainly an issue for babies, crawlers and toddlers, but not all kids get fat. That means that there's not a cause and effect relationship between infant formula and baby foods and baby obesity. Perhaps it's a combination of factors such as hormones in the baby food plus sugar drinks plus inactivity - something like that. I think that child-raising should be taught in the public schools, and a requirement for graduation. Along with that should be a course on law (what is legal, what's illegal and the present penalties for not obeying the la
  25. I knew what you meant. My point is that the tendency (which is what causes baby-obesity) is to start exercise programs and to maintain good dietary habits for children before they cut their first tooth! Crawlers need to have space to crawl! Imagine what great shape you'd be in if you had to crawl everywhere you went!! P.E. - Sure, but your point was that by school age, the kid is already fat!
