  1. Shouldn't you put aside all worldly things when you enter the church? Aren't clothing items "man-made adornments"? I challenge everyone to put away things of adornment and enter the HOUSE as you entered the world!! Without the umbilical chord, of course.
  2. Valentine's Day is just around the corner and again -- I haven't made plans nor nothin'!! Would it be terrible if I just didn't do anything this year?
  3. It's too much trouble to dress up. The occasion is not worth it. I want my mode of dress to reflect my individuality. I'm just not a formal person. I'm going to the ball game afterward. I'm not comfortable in good clothes. Everybody else dresses this way. We look at the person, not what he's wearing. I don't own a suit! He'll just outgrow a suit, so why buy him one? I LIKE the way my butt looks in my jeans. Dressing up is pretentious. That was grandma's way. This is my way. Good clothes cost a lot of money. Who cares what I wear? I have self-confidence issues, so I don't want people looking at
  4. They're still playing football? I'm a former college football player who just doesn't follow the game anymore. There's really not much of a connection between the academic schools and the individuals who play on the football teams nowadays. It's mostly marketing in college sports and pro sports? 100 percent marketing - The teams represent the city in name only. I understand the enthusiasm for college sports, because I used to be a part of it. Y'all enjoy Auburn's win and remember to give credit to the other 10 guys on the offense. wardameagle.
  5. I saw a bird fly into a window once and I was sure it was dead. I didn't want the kids to see it, so I put it in my jacket pocket, lifeless. A few minutes later I put my hand in my pocket to get the bird out and it bit me! I released it and it flew away. The best thing to do, if you can, is nothing. Unless there are cats around.
  6. When you talk about "out of wedlock", you muddy the waters. If you're talking about teens, especially young teens, then "wedlock" isn't even part of the equation, anyway! The issue is "teen pregnancy". You can make the assumption that a pregnant young teen is not getting married, nor should she. I'm not letting the boy off the hook here. He should be ON THE HOOK for somewhere in the neighborhood of 100k - 150K for his half. This requirement should be carved in stone and taught in our schools that when a teen couple have sex (hetero) - HE is also responsible and on the hook for big bucks.
  7. The writers and producers of the show (did you know that Sean Murray, who plays Special Agent Timothy McGee, is the step-son of the producer, Donald P. Bellisario?) put everything together just right, from the NCIS headquarters, to the development of the characters, the story lines (including subplots) to the selection of the actors (except for Rocky Carroll - I think that he is miscast). I know that part of their success is the fact that occasionally they kill off one of the stars - I just wish that Jenny and Kate would come back to life! What I can't figure out is why they didn't go
  8. That trite saying (that you call an old adage) really doesn't apply here, TP. When I said that you don't have a point to make, here's what I mean. A person with knowledge will have your money (you say). Doesn't that make HIM the person with money? What ruins whatever-the-heck point that you were trying to make is this - In reality (you're interested in reality, right?) no one has JUST money and no knowledge. And no one has JUST KNOWLEDGE and no money (if that were the case, doesn't that undermine your contention that the guy with the knowledge will get your money?) Money kills pe
  9. I think that we're saying essentially the same thing, except that you want to get a plug in for gnosticism. Since just knowledge, by itself, not worked-for nor diligently sought-after, has little intrinsic value, wouldn't you say that "just money" is more powerful, carries more weight, than "just knowledge" ?
  10. Marriage - a hassle and a waste of money? I couldn't disagree more. We mark time in our lives by significant events. A hassle? Maybe. But some hassles are worth the trouble. As far as it being a waste of money, "value" depends on the circumstances of the individual and the priorities of the individual (or in this case, the couple). If people have money that they've made honestly, who am I to I to tell them how to spend it? A circus? Circuses are FUN! They are well-orchestrated events, with lots of things going on. So many people project their circumstances onto others! Most people
  11. I think that the relationship between two people is their own business. It's not for me to say how they should qualify or pursue their relationship. For centuries children born in circumstances outside the norm were called ugly names - punishment for a situation beyond the child's control. Actors, athletes -- who cares? The people down the street - who cares? Out of wedlock births?? Why would this be any of my business? As a full grown adult, meeting another full grown adult, I don't know if his/her parents were married or not! Why would I care and what business could it possibly be of mi
  12. You'd have to be careful about this. If you continue to call on an issue that is not illegal, the police can arrest you. If the guy has been seen REPEATEDLY recording the children, that's one thing. If this is a new camcorder, he was just testing it out and ducked down because he thought it looked weird -- Isn't it a little premature to call him a pervert? If he's got his camcorder in YOUR window, that's one thing, but to start making accusations because of this???? I'd be just as mistrustful of the complainant who has been there for so many years and hasn't gotten to know his next door ne
  13. That was a nice bit of nostalgia honoring the best phone conversation comedian of all time! To allow us to see him one more time was a treat.
  14. Degenerative disk? Upper thoracic area? (you don't have to answer this one here) Have you ever been advised to have reduction surgery? Weight pulling down will put a strain on different parts of the back. Typing the same thing at the same time!
  15. Whoa, Willie - Don't forget to come back to finish your story about how you would require your neighbor to reveal why he's recording your kid. You were at his front door. He opens it. He says, "Get off my property!" and slams the door. Pick it up right there and walk through the process and lend your insight on how you would legally MAKE your neighbor tell you what you say is your right to know.
  16. In some cases, knowledge is power - in some cases it is not. In some cases it is potential power, but unutilized, what value is it? Let's say that I have the ABILITY, the KNOWLEDGE, to write hit songs for the pop charts. However, if I don't ever pick up my pencil and get to writing -- where's the power, or value in that? I may have the KNOWLEDGE to write a BEST SELLING BOOK! But if I don't apply that knowledge and spend the time to get words down on paper, submit it to publishing, etc - how much power do I have as a writer? Knowledge is like a raw material, having little value, or
  17. And a person with ENOUGH money can utilize the talents of people who have knowledge. I'm kinda thinking that you don't have a real point to make here.
  18. I said "walk through the process. You only walked to his door. You say to him, why are you recording my kids? He closes the door in your face and tells you to go away. If you stay, you're trespassing. He calls the cops and presses charges. So go ahead - pick up how you'd require the other person to tell you why he was recording your kids! You can't because -- You don't have that right! If he tells you to go away, to get off his property, then you have to - or risk arrest.
  19. Here's another scenario. You have neither. A person offers you SOME knowledge or SOME money. Which do you take? Unqualified, you take the money, because it's a known factor. It also takes care of "right now" basic needs. So -- unqualified, as you presented it, you came up with the exactly wrong conclusion. A lot of the right amount of knowledge is certainly more valuable than a few cents, which wouldn't buy anything. It's kind of a silly example that you used though - you HAVE MONEY, but no knowledge? How'd you get the money? However you did it, do it again!
  20. No, it's not. Walk through the process. If the guy is not breaking any laws you can't "make" him reveal why he is recording your kids who are in public view. How about if he's just watching them out his window? You think that you have a right to know why he's watching them? You can ask and he can tell you IF HE WANTS TO, but you don't have a RIGHT to the information. If you are out in the public, people can take a picture of you. What do you think that the papparazzi thing is all about? So, if this was your kid, how would you exert your RIGHT to make the other person stop watching/reco
  21. How about if they're hoping for something unusual to happen so that they could submit the video to "America's Funniest Videos"? That would be another reason. Both that one and the one about being disturbed (noise) or documenting property damage - these are both WAY more likely than some sort of obsession. After a discussion with the neighbor about whether the kids were being a bother, any further concerns can be laid to rest by paying for a background check on the guy. If he has prior arrests on his record for anything related, then the answer would be tall fences. It would be a bad
  22. I think that's not correct about having to post that an area is under surveillance. As an example, you can go to a high school football game/pee-wee football game and record the game without notifying people with a sign. Recording doesn't necessarily mean, "surveillance". It may have been that, while playing in the yard, the boys kicked a ball against the neighbor's house. The neighbor, not wanting to yell at the kids, just wanted to document a possible future incident in case the kids said that they didn't do it. It's on that basis that I'd go see the neighbor - to make sure that the
  23. I focused on the mall area by zooming in and you're right about the immediate area around the mall -just an offender or two. Within eight to ten miles, I counted about 50 sex offenders, though. Douglasville city limits seems really bad just north of Fairburn Rd/ Bankhead Hwy. Brittain Rd/Cedar Mountain Rd? It looks like there are about eight in a 1-2 mile radius! One Rape just off Stewart Mill in the last week, on 1-10-11.
  24. Try this for up to date stats on the Arbor Place Mall area: http://www.sheriff.douglas.ga.us/servicesRecordsFees.html Go to LINKS Then CRIME REPORTS It plots each instance on a map. Check out all of the sex offenders in the Arbor Place Mall area!! OMG!!!!!
