I just need to float on down to the store and buy some

Yup, My son had an Ortho appointment yesterday .. but I told the lady .. I don't think I could even make it out of my subdivision. I'm just really glad I buy groceries 2 weeks at a time. Hubby says it's not that bad .. I just know that if I can stay home, I am. Trying to make less work for the DOT workers and the traffic situation.

I got a stupid questions re: the Boil water thingy
Teatime replied to 1novella's topic in RECENT TOPICS
We did showers .. I've had my daughters get UTI"s from taking baths in the past .. and that was in " clean " water. I wouldn't take chances .. do the shower .. IMO. -
I hope everyone made it home ok last night. Hubby stayed home yesterday, but went in today. It's scary out there. I have canceled everything as far as appointments go for the rest of the week.

A few of my older kids are boiling water and taking sponge baths. We've been using water as sparingly as possible. Our septic tank started having issues Sunday night. However, that seems to have resolved itself. If it goes in the mouth, I'm boiling it. Water for brushing teeth, ect. I hope this doesn't last too long .. with 8 people and 12 pets .. I'm doing ALLOT of boiling I don't mind though .. at least we still have our house and loved ones. Things could be FAR worse.

We had some water back up last night but it seems to have calmed down. I agree .. don't use water unless you have to. Hopefully once things dry out .. everything will be back to normal.

It's so nice to see that there are still people left that care about others So many others would of just kept going and only thought of themselves. I'm glad it all ended well, and I am very proud of those boys for trying to make a difference.

I wished we owned a boat I feel horrible sitting here not being able to help.

Still here .. glad we live on a hill I've always hated it until last night.

We're boiling just to be on the safe side

That is what I was told Many years ago. If you're going to have 3 .. have 4. I'm very glad that I took that advice, because from what most people I've talked to have told me .. it's true. Which is why all of our kids are in sets of 2.

Good thoughts coming your way. Your mom sounds allot like mine. I had to drag her to the hospital when her appendix erupted last fall. Bless strong women, but they sure can drive those that love them crazy. I hope your mom makes a full recovery.

Anyone have any experience with spacers for their kid's teeth?
Teatime replied to JBrigman's topic in RECENT TOPICS
Dr. McLendon B and her brother both go to him. He rocks! When the others get their adult teeth in .. they'll also be going to see him. We drive out of our way for him. B went to 3 different Ortho's before we fell in love with Dr McLendon. He was the ONLY one that didn't use fear tactics or try to BS us. -

I've always been old fashioned about things. They told me years ago that my son needed braces. He has them now that he is 12 with ALL of his adult teeth. I refused to even take him to an ortho before that. I'll be the same with my other kids. While technology is good at times .. the expensive, non necessary trends are something I just won't be part of. I met a guy once in the Ortho office .. his teenage son was on his " 3rd " set of braces Yeah, that won't be happening to me. -
I've told hubby I'm getting one of those .. but also have it done in Braille .. so he'll have no excuses

How is at home not a " real " party ? We do ours at home every year for every kid. We have a blast and all family members come over. We do cook outs, pinyata's .. sometimes water parties in the summer. You can have a real party anywhere .. why does it have to cost money in order to be " real "? Growing up my parents were very poor .. lucky if they got anything at all. I think I would rather spend money on gifts for kids and have a cheap, real party at home.

When I had my 4th child, the doctor tried to talk me into a tubal. I said no, I'm not done yet He thought I was crazy, and even I questioned my sanity. But, I just knew I wasn't done. I felt it in my heart and I think that rings true for all women. Now after number 6 .. yeah I was done and I was happy and content. She just turned 6 and lost her first tooth. But, I have no desire for more kids .. maybe grand kids

I have some pretty good insight to this I grew up an only child .. as did my husband. I wouldn't wish it on my worst enemy. Yes, I got everything I wanted. However it came at a very big price. Everything was my fault, I had nobody to blame anything on. ( which in a way has helped me ) I grew up very fast and have always been very responsible and honest. I learned early on that lying was pointless. I had one friend growing up and she was my adopted sister .. we did everything together .. because I never got the sister that I always wanted. I also had a dog growing up, she was the one

One tat ... so far Only pierced ears. I would love to do my belly button but nobody would ever see it .. making it kinda pointless.

The gate in the doorway worked for most of my kids. However my 7 year old would just climb over it Kids have a way of keeping you on your toes.
