I've heard that the dam on Dallas Hwy between 92 and Macland has given way. Is anyone able to confirm?
-
Stepdad just came thru and said Dallas Hwy is no longer closed. Does that mean it safe now? I'm right there so it's got me a bit wigged out.

**Dallas Hwy between 92 and Macland* Any one know the status of the dam/Lake? I believe he has an outlet thru our neighborhood. Hubby just went out to help my sister with her flooded basement and is concerned about getting back into our neighborhood. Said Marshall's are stopping people trying to head toward Dallas on Dallas hwy. We're in Hunters Glen and mom is in Sedgefield He also said the road to the back of the neighborhood is flooded. *since this was edited no one knows what I'm talking about*

Just got my daughter a Garmin Nuvi for her birthday. Since she's 2 1/2 hours away at college and directionally challenged it was a must have. $129 or $139 at Walmart. We used my FIL's back in Aug when my grandfather passed away and we had to drive to Detroit. The whole 75 North deal was easy it was getting from my dad's to the funeral home to my grandmothers that was an issue. My dad is the one who passed on the directionally challenged gene and is not to be trusted with any type of directions. We loved the points of interest option--we were able to find a Hotel in KY with no problem -
Congrats! What a precious little boy. My sister is due 10/31 and I'm dying to get my hands on a baby again! My baby is 11

A friends daughter also takes the HGH shots. From what I understand it's not only a size issue for her--in 6th grade and the size of a 2nd grader, there are learning problems associated with the lack of hormones.

Naaasssttttyy! But my 11 year old son watched it twice. -
I would have an issue if my child behaved disrespectfully. My 5th graders class watched the speach and he said it was "nice" and that the president said "some really good stuff" I think this has been blow so far out of proportion it borders on hysteria. I have no problem with the president addressing students. I am glad the "lesson" portion was tossed--that I think was overstepping boundries. Believe me I'm not an Obama fan, but come on when people get wound up over something like this, it paints us all with the "crazy" brush.

I'm the queen of getting ugly on the phone. And I really don't understand why I have to be a witch in the 1st place either. Truthfully I'm not asking for anything illegal or crazy, just do the right thing and we'll be fine. I even have to do it at work with vendors or mfgs, On occasion I hang up the phone to a hushed silence in the office--I think I scare them. But Hey, we all have a super power, mine's just scary mean phone lady. -
Filters are our friend! One on the sink, one in the fridge for ice and water, and a pitcher in the fridge. My husband can't stand the taste of tap water. With the kids in sports we normally go thru a ton of bottled water but we're cutting back on expenses and that is one that is out the window. I bought a couple of sport type bottles and they refill them from the pitcher in the fridge. My daughters dorm has issues with copper in the water so she has a Brita pitcher in her fridge at school.

The food is really good at the school, we ate several meals there during the orientation/parent weekend thingy. But no steak

Thanks for the suggestion! She's been eating Cafeteria food for two weeks and apparently steak is not on the menu.

My daughter is in school at Young Harris and we are going up on Saturday to celebrate her 18th Birthday! She really wants a steak dinner for her bday dinner. I've searched for Longhorns or Outback around Blairsville and Murphy but everything is 50+ miles away. We ate at the Fatz in Blairsville last time we were there and I was not impressed. So I'm hoping someone can give us some options! Thanks for your help!

We're in East Paulding also, but Hubby really likes the trails at White Oak so he and the kids go there to run.
