  1. I'd be surprised if you found a Mexican restaurant *owned* by Mexicans (as opposed to a chain) open on Easter Sunday.
  2. Did you miss part of the tag number or was it a special tag?
  3. A fool and her money are soon parted.
  4. There are quite a number on eBay. Be sure you look at all of them - some are no longer in their original clothes, and some sellers are charging *outrageous* prices for them.
  5. I was under the impression that your husband is based out of Norfolk, but I don't know where y'all live. Praying that the pilots and all on the ground are or will be all right.
  6. Very cute! I trust her basket is lined in towels and that little Mimi is safely sleeping on her tummy. (Did someone tell you that Dr. Denmark passed away on the first?)
  7. As far as food is concerned, you *do* have a choice: you can either buy what the markets provide, or you can grow it yourself. Want raw milk? Get a cow or goat. Want raw honey? Establish your own hives. Are these things easy or convenient or cheap? In this modern age, where most people don't own much land and don't understand what having a farm entails, probably not. This is where you either make sacrifices to have what's important to you, or you do without.
  8. I'm not sure the state of Alabama is under any obligation to report planned burns to the state of Georgia. Wonder if we send word to Tennessee or South Carolina or North Carolina when *we're* going to be burning acreage ... Mr. Dis might know. Anyway, better a *controlled* burn than a wildfire that destroys thousands upon thousands of acres and maybe takes a few lives while it's at it. Believe me, a few hours paying for air conditioning is a small price to pay. I have friends who have had to flee a wildfire - I doubt any of us would have wanted to be in their shoes.
  9. Our late Pippin used to watch television if animals were on.
  10. Have you ever been to the Backyard Chickens website? You might get an answer to your question there.
  11. I know that several of you knew and saw Dr. Denmark when she still practiced medicine, and a number of us had family members who saw her. She was a pediatrician who preached common sense, discipline and love in caring for children, and we need more of her kind these days. Rest in peace, Dr. Denmark! Biography
  12. Well, *she* is posting it on FB, where I presume she's posting to family and friends. It's not her fault that other folks are posting it HERE, where some folks aren't so ... friendly.
  13. Where are you or where are you wanting to stay?
  14. If there's a management company for the condos, I'd be picking up the phone and registering a complaint.
  15. Hmm - their way or the highway, eh? Holiday conflicts almost always go back at least a generation or two. When you were growing up, what did y'all do? Was *your* mother obliged to go and spend holidays with *her* mother or your *dad's* family, regardless of her wishes? Sometimes I think families continue with a 'tradition' not because that's the way it's always been done - or even because they like it - as much as they think it's finally THEIR turn to get things THEIR way.
  16. What happens at her house that having you there is such a big deal? Will you be the only child missing, for example? Would it be possible for them to come and visit *your* family on Easter? I dunno ... the only holiday that was 'fixed' on my mother's side of the family was Christmas Eve at my grandmother's house. Other holidays were observed whenever and not always with everyone there. OTOH, my father's side of the family believed in spending holidays *together*, which led to arguments and a certain amount of discontent over the years, which IMO is EXACTLY what family time should NO
  17. I guess that's designed to get a little extra from those who order one drink and nurse it all night. Maybe management thinks that will put people off less than a cover charge.
  18. I thought the same thing - her animal portraits are just as amazing. I miss seeing her work on here.
  19. Good job! Tell her to drink a lot of water and some tea with lemon and honey if she can stand it - gotta keep those vocal cords lubricated and comfy. Good luck!
  20. And we wonder why modern society is going to hell in a handbasket. There was a time when kids were taught that doing the RIGHT thing was more important than doing the COMFORTABLE or SAFE thing. I sure hope there are still parents out there who are doing that.
  21. -100 I hope they never see *you* robbed or shot, then. Think of the moral dilemma ....
  22. Oh well then. But you know, I'm going to be surprised if any of these kids ends up with a felony conviction. I suspect that when it comes down to the nitty-gritty, the county will charge them with something different then work out deals.
  23. I saw that story, too. He claims that when he saw that the 'prank' was getting out of hand, he left. If he was the fine young man his mother claims he is, he would have called 911 and *reported* the vandalism. I'm sure there are those here who would call him a snitch, but if you witness CRIMINAL BEHAVIOR, you should feel a moral obligation to report it. Unless his scholarship has a morality clause, I doubt he'll lose it.
  24. Is it possible that the photos were taken *by* family members, or at the request of the family? I personally find it distasteful, but there are people who take pictures at visitations and consider it perfectly OK. I hope that the photographers had the permission of the family to take those photos. If so, fine - if not, shame on them.
