  2. Thank you for your offers. We are okay. Not 100% on how it started. My niece started a go fund me page and we were very blessed with donations so we are doing good. Our community is wonderful.
  3. My house caught on fire last Tuesday night. We were not at home at the time the fire started therefore my 3 dogs were in the house. I arrived at my house right after the fire fighters had arrived. Their first priority was rescuing my dogs. They worked very hard to locate all three of them. They found one still alive and one that had died. My third dog is still missing. It is believed he is somewhere in the house however it is not safe to look for him at this time. Our fire dept was awesome! They took such good care of us. I have never seen them fight a fire up close ( I don't want t
  4. I tend to agree with you. But the parents decided to move forward.
  5. Nope this year we made $1500 off the sign board. We did have expenses this year that is why we didn't pay the building payment.
  6. He was talking about the football sponsor board that faces the road. The sign on the building belongs to the school.
  7. That is correct. The booster club membership voted to disband on Monday. This loan shouldn't have ever been approved. It was bad loan from the start. The booster club could never afford it.
  8. We tried to come to an agreement. Basically the bank told us no. We asked them to drop the balance down to $150,000 and fix it for 10 yrs at an interest rate of 5%. That would have been a $1595 payment and the loan would have had an end in site. We were told no. We even offered to name the field house after the bank. They wouldn't bend.
  9. Where did you get that information? The booster club paid over $238,000 since the inception of the loan. I know because I was the treasurer of the booster club. I personally wrote a check every month in 2015 and the person before me paid every month. in 2008-2012 the loan was not paid every month. There were times that they would make a lump sum payment of $20,000 but from 2013-2015 the loan was paid on time every month. In 2016 we simply didn't have the money to make all the payments due to a lack of fundraising. The bank has no recourse on the building. The building is owned by the s
  10. Nope, since the club has disbanded there is no money to repay the loan,
  11. The booster club voted last night to disband.
  12. The booster club never asked for a bail out. The principal for east ask the school board for the bail out. Several booster board members spoke at the meeting asking the school board not to pay for it.
  13. NO The taxpayers on not on the hook. The school board made that point clear.
  14. The booster club has always struggled to pay the loan. Fundraising has gotten harder and harder and to be honest yes funds have dried up a bit. It was a bad loan from the start. The whole story was told at the school board meeting last week. You should watch it.
  15. Do you really think we haven't tried to get the bank to wipe the debt away. We have tried everything and the bank won't negotiate. They want their money. Back in 2014 before the loan was resigned we tried everything to get the bank to compromise with us. The answer was always NO
  16. The school board did not back or approve a loan. The $450,000 that was paid to build the field house by the boosters was to come from public and private donations. The school paid $450,000 and the boosters paid $450,000 however the boosters took a loan out for it. Watch the school board meeting from last week. Very interesting. http://www.paulding.k12.ga.us/Page/33913
  17. I am bring this post back to the front because of last weeks school board meeting. I was reading back through this post and found it interesting that some people didn't believe what was originally posted. But now it is on the record for all to see. Yes the booster club was given a loan for a field house. NO the board did not approve such loan. There is so much more that was discussed but the bottom line is the students and players at east have suffered long enough. The school board voted and they will not being paying off the loan nor will they allow any school money to be paid toward th
  18. For information regarding the EPHS fieldhouse please reach out to Cliff Cole. He has all the information regarding the field house and when the board approved its construction. The approval came back in 2006 some time.
  19. For any additional information regarding the fireworks fundraiser please contact Jason Freeman or Alan Daws at East Paulding High School. All fundraisers must be approved by school administration. They have all the information you are asking. I have been instructed not to list specific information on social media. If anyone has further questions these gentlemen are the best resource as they have reviewed this fundraiser and all of the parties involved.
  20. I can answer this. Yes we work with another 501c3 whose sole purpose is to raise money and donate it to organizations. The EPFBC is a 501c3. We work with this non profit to do the fireworks and in turn for us supplying the staff for the fireworks stand they make a donation to EPFBC. If is very cut and dry. The booster club has no financial investment in the fireworks other than time and the opening bank( which is recouped very quickly). We have no obligation to the fireworks vendor for the product. The nonprofit we work with has worked with churches, and other organization to help them
  21. what $50,000 donation to boyscouts are you talking about? East Football didn't donate any money to boyscouts.
  22. I can answer the question regarding the janitors. I personally spoke with Theresa. She said she voted for the outsourcing. She said her reasons were as follows: 1. The company matches the employees 401k with a 10% match. The district can't 2. The company allows for upward mobility for their employees since they have contracts with colleges, hospitals and many more. 3. The company hired all of the current janitors unless they could not pass a drug test/background check, so they didn't lose their jobs 4. In the end it saved the district money so they could avoid increasing the milea
  23. Theresa never said she didn't know anything about the budget. Did you even watch the debate? WOW I can see that Steve has done a number on several of you. Follow a man who can't write a sentence without a typo ( look at his website), a man who when he gets mad takes his toys and goes home. A man who makes promises and NEVER keeps them. Ask the people involved with the East Paulding Football Booster club, They all saw it first hand.
  24. I wouldn't say Theresa Lyons is a good old boy. She is fair and doesn't always side with all of them. Get to know her first before you judge.
  25. It appears Cobb County is just ignoring the outcries. I don't think anything will happen. It is very sad. These parents knew they were wrong but " got away" with it. Take the football part out of it. They lived in Paulding County and went to a Cobb County school, that in its self is wrong. Cobb doesn't allow out of district students.
