  1. Really guys - 31 views and no comments - help a girl out here!!
  2. Curtis - Can I email you a copy of our current declarations page and you run some numbers for me? We've always been happy with our current carrier (almost 25 years). But, youngest is coming on board in June, and it scares me. He'll be our first teenager with constant access to a vehicle. Oldest is at college, but youngest will have a vehicle here and him be here. We wouldn't do it, but he's looking for summer jobs, more soccer, football possibly, and I'm working full time now. Life is different than it was four years ago.
  3. We haven't eaten downtown since they ran the Mexican place out of there - Banditos maybe??? Sal's is okay - but it's just another pizza place. We'll see how this goes. I'd go there at least once just to try it. I'm hopeful, but realistic.
  4. I have equipment in my lab that only has xp drivers available - I have dedicated computers that run those computers and they will never been connected to a network simply so I know nothing will get auto-downloaded. It's a pain, but the equipment is expensive to replace and still valuable to what I do - so I work around their issues.
  5. This subject has been on my mind lately. I want to gather some informal information on the subject. 1. What do you think BYOD (bring your own device) in the classroom means? 2. Do you think that teachers should be taking advantage of the devices that students bring to school anyway as a learning tool? 3. Do you think that the school system should be providing devices to those that don't have devices (for whatever reason) or should be providing devices to ALL students? 4. What do you see as the pros and cons to have these devices be used in the classroom? Be nice - no nastines
  6. I let my own kid cut my yard, but I'd be reluctant to let just any teenager cut my yard. Why? Liability. Our society is too litigious to make me feel comfortable. When my kids were little - I had a on-call babysitter that was a nearby teenager. I paid well. But, you're right - it's tough for kids to earn money. And, it's going to get tougher if we keep pushing minimum wages even higher.
  7. I had to do this last summer. Twice. I hate buying cars. I had put it off for 13 years. I hate buying cars. So, for my explorer - we were looking for something newer, etc. Cars.com is where I started. I ended up finding it at a smaller broker in Villa Rica. For the boy's xterra - I did the craigslist route. It's a great deal of work. Every morning and night I was watching to find it. It took me about three weeks. Youngest knows more about xterras than he ever wanted to know. BUT, the biggest thing I learned - 1. develop a open and honest relationship with a mechanic.
  8. I've been cutting across Davis Mill North all the way to 278. Not too bad. I hope they get this done before school opens back up - it's going to be a nightmare if they don't. But, I completely agree - that intersection needed major re-engineering - this is definitely worth the inconvenience.
  9. There were some nasty bugs going around right before they got out of school. Mine was puny all weekend and most of the week. Reason # 134 that I'm glad we get breaks - let's the schools get de-germed.
  10. We are down to the last 24 hours of the sales!! If you need/want pine straw - please order. www.troop7online.org - right side towards the bottom - you will see a pine straw button. Just put p.com in as the scout's name. I'll get it to the correct person. You can't imagine what a difference this makes in our scouts' lives. The adventures that they get through scouting and the adults that they interact with make them better citizens and better leaders for our country. !
  11. Please be sure to order your pine straw on or before 2/23 - we need all the support we can get. Due to scheduling issues, we are delivering early than we would like to. But, we really need the support.
  12. While we are dealing with the winter weather, it's time to start thinking about spring. Warm, beautiful glorious spring. Just think about how beautiful your yard will look with a fresh coat of pine straw. Our Boy Scouts will bring you bales of pine straw for $4/bale - minimum 5 bale order. We deliver pretty much all over Paulding County on either March 4 or 5th. If you let us know, we can try to put it exactly where you want. It's a great deal. You don't have to clean up your vehicle, or go to Home Depot and fight the crowd, or chance getting your vehicle d
  13. I'm hoping that you all are just waiting to order your pine straw!! Sales are very, very slow this year. I know we are delivering early this year - it's a combination of our supplier's schedule as well as our scouting schedule. But, I really really hope that you will consider ordering.
  14. While today is going to be beautiful (though a little chilly), be sure to walk your yard and figure out how much pine straw you are going to need for the spring. Our boys and adults will bring it to you the weekend of March 5/6 to your location. It's a great way to support our scouts so that they can head out on their adventures and get your yard looking great for the spring and summer.
  15. Thank you very much!! Woohoo!! The next few days will be beautiful!! Time to head outside and figure out how many bales will make your landscape look amazing!!
  16. I know - it's not the night for this. But, we do need to keep this current. There may be someone out there that would love to have pine straw but can't get it home from the store. Please help us help the community.

  18. Kids do ride the bus. Many kids don't ride the bus - either they are brought to school or they walk/drive. Students are at school before 7am I've noticed when I've dropped mine off early for field trips, tutoring, etc. My kids have almost always been taken to school - they've been school choiced most of their careers. My choice (hence the name). Youngest has issues with overly loud places so he probably would have been taken to school even if he could ride the bus. It's not worth the aggravation of him being so out of sorts for a bus ride. The trick to an easier carpool line -
  19. I can't believe this. He cut my boys' hair for years. Don't know why we stopped going to him. Life just moved on I guess. This is just so sad.
  20. Meatloaf, steamed spinach, mashed potatoes. It's what the teenager wanted. I'm good with letting him decide because I get tired of figuring it out. I also threw a shepherd's pie in the oven since it's basically meatloaf in a different format. ! Lunch for the rest of the week.
  21. My uncle was cleaning his 22 when he was about 9-10. A round got jammed. He put the butt of the rifle down on the floor just a hair too hard and the round came loose and shot out. It went up the bridge of my aunt's (6-7) nose and became lodged in between her eye brows. My mom (14-15 at the time) was there - she said that he didn't do anything they hadn't done a thousand times before - just that one time he did it a little harder. Is my aunt lucky to be alive? Yep. She is. But, they still had weapons in the house. All of them raised their children with weapons in the house. And, all o
  22. He was clear in his facebook post that either the officer bought the sticker or he did out of personal funds. No public money was spent on it.
  23. We are previous Hunter Body Shop customers. But, the last time we needed a vehicle repaired - they were snotty, distant, and left me completely unsure that it would be right. This is when we do ALOT of business with them through work. Then, when walking away, the young guy (can't think of his name) said that my truck would just be totalled - it couldn't be fixed for what the insurance company was estimating. Three close friends independantly recommended Wren's body shop in Douglasville. I took my truck there - not only did they fix it beautifully, they did it for what the insurance com
  24. Who charters a Boy Scout unit is a a very interesting relationship. Most of the time, they simply provide meeting space to us and sign forms. And, that's usually the extent of the relationship. Occassionally we'll do some service projects around the church. But, overall, it's not a very symbiotic relationship. And, while that has it's advantages, it also has its disadvantages. As for the recent membership change, to be honest, we've never asked. It's not on your adult application. I really don't care. If you come in looking for another gay adult, I have a character issue with your
  25. Dr. Pederson is AMAZING!! I've seen some of his classes. Those students are very blessed to have him. And, there are great folks at PCHS. Please don't hear me say that there aren't. My concern was that on balance - I hear and have experienced more families with blah or poor experiences there than the ones that have had great experiences. And, to be honest, I don't count those families that are at the Magnet school - that's a whole different ball game and frankly it's at PCHS to improve their attendance rates and their test scores. They don't put magnet schools at otherwise high performi
