I've not read this whole thread, and what I am going to say may have already been said. But, it seems there has already been an assault, and battery. The perpetrator is charged with the crime, I presume. Is any of the perp's friends commit a crime then they should be prosecuted. I went through a situation, once, where I did the assaulting, because I was protecting myself. It turn out that I had no right to protect myself in that way.
