  1. This guy is awesome. You just don't find 'em like Subby anymore- honest, hard working, friendly- the real deal! His reputation means the world to him & he stands by his work. More than fair prices & superb quality. He's got a customer for life here!

*no relation or affiliation, just really impressed with his character & work!*

I second all of the above!!!!

  2. Looky there!

Had it saved on the space station. (laptop)

Like Papi said, DO NOT SKIMP ON THE CHEESE!!

I use Boar's Head Black Wax Sharp Yellow Cheddar Cheese.

Find it at your local Kroger Deli.

    Ingredients:

    • 1 (16 ounce) package macaroni

    • 8 tablespoons butter

    • 8 tablespoons flour

    • 2 cups milk

    • 2 cups cream

    • 1 teaspoon salt

    • fresh ground black pepper, to taste

    • 4 cups cheddar cheese, shredded good quality

    • 1 cup panko breadcrumbs, buttered

    Directions:

    1. Preheat oven to 400°F.

    2. Cook and drain macaroni according to package directions; set aside.

    3. In a large saucepan melt butter.

    4. Add flour mixed with salt and pepper, using a whisk to stir until well blended.

    5. Pour milk and cream in gradually; stirring constantly.

    6. Bring to boiling point and boil 2 minutes (stirring constantly).

    7. Reduce heat and cook (stirring constantly) 10 minutes.

    8. Add shredded cheddar little by little and simmer an additional 5 minutes, or until cheese melts.

    9. Turn off flame.

    10. Add macaroni to the saucepan and toss to coat with the cheese sauce.

    11. Transfer macaroni to a buttered baking dish.

    12. Sprinkle with breadcrumbs.

    13. Bake 20 minutes until the top is golden brown.

You can also freeze this recipe in zip-lock bags for later use - once you have mixed the macaroni along with the cheese sauce allow to cool to room temperature before adding to your freezer - I generally pull it out the night before and allow macaroni and cheese to reach room temperature; I then add the macaroni and cheese to a buttered baking dish, sprinkle with bread crumbs and then bake for 20 to 30 minutes, until golden brown on top and bubbling.

This is what I do - except I add 1/4 t thyme & cayenne pepper, 1/8 tsp white pepper to the butter/flour before you add the cream.... just a touch of nutmeg and a tsp of worcestershire sauce while you let it thicken, then after you add the cheese & melt it - a tsp of brown mustard. The buttered panko breadcrumbs are the best!! We use 1/2 C bread crumbs & 1 T melted butter.

    Not easy but DELICIOUS.

  3. In 1990 I was the proud owner of the "long form" census package...

I called it the stalking package. It asked for such pertinent information, among other things, as what time each person left the house on a regular workday. The Census taker assured me that all the info would be kept in "strictest confidence"

I can't remember what year it was that the Powers that be announced that some census books had been "unaccounted for" (I believe that is government speak for stolen = but we don't want to tell you)

I was so glad the only question I answered in all honesty were how many people were living in your home on January 1, 1990.

  4. I learned --

1- travelling 10 hours with 4 kids is not a vacation...

2- going to the beach or camping with aforementioned kids & your parents is not a vacation...

3- a margarita makes the headache go away for awhile, but then you realize... it's still not a vacation. :p

  5. I love DWTS - I missed the whole last season & was really upset.

I hope Denise get voted off -- I really don't like her, but I'll miss Maxipoo!

Did you know you can get a prediction of who is voted off on dialidol?

  6. When my son had white baseball pants all the moms said to use dishwasher detergent, like Cascade.

I use the liquid cascade -- just don't put it in with any colors. This will turn black jeans into white jeans!!

edited to add -- NEVER use bleach. It just turns them yellow.

  7. It was called for an elderly man who was either sick or injured in his home...

There was no car accident involved.

Does anyone know what happened on Austin Bridge Rd (near Ridge Road) last night around 8 pm?

    Edited to Correct smiley situation!

  8. What Cigna members need to do is call the customer service phone number which is on the back of their insurance cards and let them know you want to continue seeing WellStar physicians and ask them what your options are until Cigna comes to an agreement on a contract.

Contract disputes happen alot with insurance companies when they are up for renewal with hospital systems, it's frustrating, I know.

P.S. the contract has to do with all of WellStar and the Wellstar Physicians group as well.

I agree with this 100% Why should we call Wellstar & complain, they probably aren't making enough from CIGNA to make it worth their while to resign. Look at your EOB's - the discount is more than the copay & insurance payment in most cases for me.I called CIGNA & told them that if I had other options, I would be changing insurance companies immediately - if not, I will be changing as soon as possible.

  9. I really liked the "Lindy" Early June Peas but, can't find them anymore. They use to have the white label and green writing, maybe? They tasted just like LeSuer. If anyone knows where to find them, please letme know.

I'll keep an eye out for them. Don't think I've seen them in quite a while.

  10. hi Subby --
