  1. Full Story <_<

NEVADA CITY, Calif. -- A 12-year-old girl was forced to take a pregnancy test at school in Nevada City, a lawsuit filed in Nevada County Superior Court alleges.

The Pacific Justice Institute, which is representing the girl, said in a news release that Steve Davis, a counselor at Seven Hills Middle School, pulled the girl out of class.

KCRA 3 has decided not to name the girl out of protection for her privacy.

Davis heard rumors that she was pregnant and wanted to know if it was true, the release said.

Though she denied it and told Davis a classmate had spread rumors about her in the past, the counselor got a pregnancy test from the school nurse and told the 12-year-old to give a urine sample, the Pacific Justice Institute said.

    The pregnancy test was negative.

According to the news release, the girl was embarrassed and humiliated, and her parents were angry when they found out.

They worked with the Pacific Justice Institute to get an apology from the Nevada City School District, but didn't receive one.

The lawsuit, filed Oct. 29, 2008, seeks damages for violation of the girl's right to privacy and emotional distress.

"There is no merit in the claim," Superintendent Roger Steel said. He directed further questions to the district's attorney.

Reached at home Monday night, Davis said he had no comment on the lawsuit.

common for the school to even have pregnancy tests?

  2. I like to watch it. I was really never around anyone with an addiction(outside of smoking, etc) growing up. The older I get, the more empathetic I try to be with others. You never know how someone gets to the bottom. Alot of the time, it's not a selfish person just partying it up and gets addicted. It's people who go through so much pain in life, that they turn to drugs, alcohol, food, to ease the pain out of sheer desperation. It then becomes an addiction. Noone is above it. The success stories are great and encouraging to see. The ones who go back to the addiction is a stark lesson of how powerful addiction is.

    good post...

i have experience myself being an addict...had to go to rehab to even understand myself...i am a good person..i was born an addict but never thought i was til i met my drug of choice...then it overtook my life...i wanted to die but couldnt kill myself..i knew i was an addict and that i had not always been..i heard of people overcoming addiction but couldnt believe i could do it myself...couldnt do it alone...but through the right type of help and my willingness to let go of my control i got help and am sober now and living right again...

most addicts cannot be addicts by themselves..someone helps them..enables them..feels sorry for them...gives them $$$

i hated being an addict..it changed how i acted..i was myself but it was like being possesed...

when it changed for me was when i was in rehab and one of the therpists taught us that that feeling of not being able to stop was actually the same thing that controls our fight or flight response...your mid brain...your primary survival instinct..it is the same thing that tells you you are in danger..or hungry..or terrified..or need to do your drug at any cost or you will die..cept you just feel a strong craving..like when you dont eat for days and you are HUNGRY..addicts are lacking the normal mid brain response whenever it comes to their drug of choice....whether alcohol..cocaine..oxycontin..valium..heroin..or whatever they have no control over except for that 1st drink smoke hit snort huff or whatever...most addicts dont know that the 1st one is the one that gets em..the mid brain will override the thinking part of your brain..the frontal lobe...thats why addicts act "crazy" they are trying to survive according to their mid brain malfunction and not able to listen to their socially aware frontal lobe.

anyhow...if i can ever help someone going though what i and my family went through then it will have been worth it.. have compassion for the addicts and quit enabling them to continue...intervention is a good thing if done correctly..everyone is at risk..addiction crosses all social and economic boundaries

the counselors i respected the most by the way..the ones that meant the most for me..were all former addicts trying to help current addicts and man am i glad they got through their addiction

by the grace of god go you

  3. this big black bird sitting on a dock

i approach and it flies off and lands in the water like a duck..except instead of floating like a duck its whole body sinks in leaving its neck and head only above..

  4. article said the true rapist had ben writing the courts for years trying to confess to no avail...

attacked said the rapist smoked the whole time..the convicted had severe asthma

sounds like a good old fashioned ass whooping needs to be administered to someones in the texas judicial system...

    cause they murdered this guy

  5. Most rescue groups and animal lovers DO foot the bill themselves under regular circumstances. When a 'special' case comes along, help is often needed.

As in Lily's case, should the person who found her have walked away? Should she not have asked the Humane Society for help? Should the Humane Society not have asked the Animal Loving Community for help?Your thoughts?

As for those who "adopt" or even "buy" and then ask for help, that is another issue.

pauldingbabe and i were very happy to have been able to have helped lily and her pups...

didnt take a lot of anything away from us to help....would have taken something if we had known and not helped

  6. when i was 16 i was a three year veteran of snowing the girls parents

i would tell her im sorry but as long as it needs adult permission the answer has to be no...maybe it would be entirely innocent and i dont know your child or the boy

but i remember and we got away with well everything...

nice car though..looks and sounds good...well maintained and he says all records avail

  8. This is not a new law. It always irked me that we were to run off the KKK gus but turn a blind eye to the shriners. Not taking sides just saying it is either wrong or right, not a "depends". Cobb has taken a new stance now. They do not allow anyone, including firemen, to get in the intersections. That is why you no longer see us out there doing the boot drive. We get permission from local retailers and stand outside their stores. It really falls back on if anyone calls and complains. People are more apt to call on the KKK than the shriners or teams.

was going to ask aboot the firemen

  9. not sure and not there right now to check...but i used to live in that area and i remember thinking the same thing...where the heck exactly is that watertower i can see from old cartersville rd...

if the one i found is the same one you are looking at then go north on 61 towards cartersville from downtown dallas and whatever that 1st store on the left is about 5 miles out, that road has a tower on it if i remember right....which i might not, but hope helps
