Avery for Georgia Website Launched!

I am not tooting Roy's horn, by any means. But I will point out: Richardson, et al Rallston, et al Sonny, et al They took away most if not more than Roy was ever able to do in so far as funding the system goes. Our education system statewide has been butchered, and they could have done a lot more to keep some funding there. I have no dog in the fight. My kids are both post college, with one in grad school. But, I am knowledgeable to know our children's education is our future, and Georgia has taken giant leaps backwards 2 years in a row. Again, I am not involved i -

From where I sit, education is going to be, or at least SHOULD BE, at the forefront of what is going to be happening under the Gold Dome next year. It is evident education needs a great deal more financial help from the state than it has been getting. Will Avery, his wife, both his parents and a grandparent are/were all educators. I think it might behoove us in Paulding, as bad as our current BOE situation is, to have a representative whose primary focus is education. Just something to think about, regardless of the party affiliation. -
And I hope the voters appreciate the fact we have a chairman, and at least one commissioner [Tommie Graham] who have obviously been working hard at cutting spending where ever possible and not rubber-stamping spending, spending, spending. Yes, the fire station at Burnt Hickory was delayed a couple of months when Mr Graham questioned the square footage projected costs, but when it was all done and finished, the cost was substantially less than what it would have been. It is kind of scary to stop and think how the tax and spend previous administration under King Jerry would have handled this

Will Avery Kickoff Picnic SATURDAY!
surepip replied to misterpolitics's topic in Paulding County NEWS
Do you guys know if the trail is open from Hiram all the way back to the Chamber going West ? I know it washed out in the September monsoons and was closed for a long time. We hope to stop by Saturday. -
You will have to ask the BOC or Tabitha Pollard how they code the Holland & Knight invoices paid. I only did an open records request for what had been paid directly for our case/suits. And Tabitha provided the numbers each time I requested. As of January 2009 when David Austin took his chairman seat the total spent the prior 2-1/2 years under Shearin in our case was $749,000+. As of January 2010, the total was over $803,000 [so about $54,000 for 2009]. As of the end of March 2010, the total was over $1,000,000 [million]. That was the figure used in the oral argument hearings in

Avery for Georgia Website Launched!

A fairly impressive web site, and even more so compared to the others I have visited for our local elections. I Know, HE IS RUNNING AS A DEMOCRAT, but for those who remember the Dixiecrat-Democrats were the only party around these parts until 10 years ago. So before you condemn him to hell for willing to put a "D" by his name, take a few minutes to visit the site and maybe drop him a note or give him a call. I believe there is going to be a kick off of some kind at the Hiram Sliver Comet Trailhead/Leggett Park Saturday lunchtime. I plan to stop by. -

I believe Whitey is referring to the Taj Mahal I, aka BOE Building on Business 6/Merchants Drive. Taj Mahal II, and III would be the Administration Complex/Courthouse on 278. At the time the BOE building was completed, the BOE was out of money. They stonewalled the open records requests with absurd amounts demanded to provide a paper trail for invoices from The Facility Group less than 6 months prior on the BOE building work. It "appeared" the last invoices were paid with funds from the newer SPLOST, which did not include any funding for the BOE building.

My point is trying to do anything with Right to Life Legislation is vote pandering and a total waste of time until the Supreme Court over rules Roe v Wade. This issue has been presented time and time before and the outcome is, and will remain the same. So to base your platform on RTL is really nothing more than vote pandering. How about instead he tells us how he feels about instituting Impact Fees to help cover the cost of schooling our kids. And reforming the banking laws his predecessor had changed so all of these fly by night banks could get started...and then fail. What exactly is he

Dalton's carpet mill industry has been hard hit by the downturn in housing, AND Pilgrim's Pride shut down the big poultry processing plant there last summer. That plant employed something like 3000+ so I imagine it put a large number out of work.

Excuse me? How about the 3 commissioners who are Beverly's supporters have cost the county a LOT more than Beverly has. The BOC law team from Holland & Knight have a blank check to attempt by frivilous litigation to keep us out the courtroom. And you are fussing at us from spending out life savings trying to defend our property rights which the county chose to deny us ? We are wrong for trying to get our property which was taken by the developer back? But Beverly is FINE and Outstanding because she threatened litigation to protect her cushy high paying job. OK......
-
From what we understand, her buddies on the BOC; Larry Ragsdale, Wayne Kirby, and Don Powell are the same 3 who refuse to even negotiate with us on our suits. But HEY, as we go into the next phase of the litigation that has cost the taxpayers of Paulding more than $1Million Dollares, that is not all bad. We would prefer for a jury to decide our fate instead of those 3.But at least we offered to sit down and discuss it with them. And they threw more money to the attorneys and turned us down.

I have no one on ignore, you or anyone else. Subby got my lawn tractor starter repaired late Friday and I installed it yesterday and have been cutting almost 3 acres of knee high grass. Now to reiterate: I did an open records request for "any available information/paperwork concerning any and all financial and other settlement details in regards to Beverly Cochran and her departure from her employment with Paulding County." I was given the 9 page settlement agreement and consent agreement and 2 canceled checks. All 9 pages I received have been posted I believe by Patton. I was una

I disagree. The choice you will be making when deciding if you want to vote or support Beverly is if you want Shearin and the ROBBER BARON MEGA DEVELOPERS to continue to influence the BOC ? David Austin and Tommie Graham had done a remarkable job the past 18 months and even more so when you consider their hands have been tied a great deal of the time by the other 3 commissioners. King Jerry had his solid majority [4 to 1] until Hal Elchol's death. And with his vote still had a majority the balance of his term. With that he was able to make the decision to basically wipe out the cou

And now back on topic..... Just WHY is Beverly Cochran running for the Post 2 Commission Seat ? It is plainly obvious she would like to be in a position to thwart any and all agendas, projects, goals, and plans for the county David Austin tries to put into place. And from where I sit, electing her will be putting Shearin's influence back onto the BOC.

I think you may want to go back and re-read the settlement agreement. There was no prior agreement to fund her job at the BOC or the DA. Just was kind of ironic that her new job at the DA's Office got cut because of oveall budget cuts caused by Sheain's failure to pay off the bond service fees with an increased tax. Instead, he and his entire administration including Beverly Cochran tried to get a SNEAKY back door tax approved. When they got caught doing so, the pulled back and let the tax increase die on the vine and as a result had to service the bonds from the general county budget. Which

Newly elected and/or appointed politicians generally bring in their own staff. Those who were working for the previous administration have no job security once the new officials take office. The“closer” a job was to any such official, the less security it has when the politician departs. That is a fact of life forall who work for elected and appointed officials from the city/county level to the State to the Federal levels. It is SOP to be replaced. It seems Beverly Cochran thought her job was secure, forever, or at least until SHE chose to retire or leave. She had worked as Bill

I have met with Will and was quite impressed. As I understand it he is a student, working to finish his Masters at West Georgia University in Southern Political History and is also on Staff at WGU where he teaches history. So yes, he is a student, historian, and an educator. As I recall, both of his parents are educators, in Swainsboro, Ga. where he grew up, and one of his grandparents as well. His wife is a teacher at North Paulding High School. I think having an educator representing the people of Paulding County might well be much more appropriate than a lawyer, banker, or

RTL has no current legal "standing" as a Legislative issue. Until the Supreme Court overturns Roe v Wade, any state level legislation would be moot. The 2nd part of any such legislation, restricting "The A Word" would then also have to include and/or restrict availability of Birth Control Pills. This is not the responsibility of government. It is a waste of legislative time, energy and effort.
