We have kind of been sucked into the soccer/futbol thing since son first spend a summer in Brasil when he was 10. After 3 more summers in Brasil and then 3 summers in Mexico he got KIND OF addicted and we had little choice but to watch. And it paid for almost half of his college so we really can't complain. I thought it was a good game and, ahem, Mr O, it is not that much more boring than BASEBALL. Go Braves

The group of kids, and parents, at Depot Drive and Rosedale at the 4 way stop yesterday at 5:00-6:00 were causing a mini traffic jam as well because they were stopping the flow of cars through the intersection. They would be holding up the car which was next in line to go; and then almost having a wreck when the next car opposite got tired of waiting and started to go. If they insist on doing this, at least do it at a red light when the line is stopped waiting for the light to change. And some of these kids were standing in the middle of the road, on the drivers side and back peddli

Not bad. We held our own against the Brits and tied them 1 to 1. Way to go USA!!!

We mix it up quite a bit. Red meat generally only once or twice a week, if that. Poultry [including duck and goose as well as chicken], and seafood or meatless the rest of the time. Very, very little fried, but when we do, it is in duck/goose fat. Actually lower in the ugly fats in Crisco. Salads, but never with iceberg. We grow romaine, oakleaf, LOTS of Arugula [has a nice kick that you either love or hate] as well as spinach and cabbage. Pickled, or brined cabbage that we call Kim Chee, but it is always refrigerated, not like the Korean variety. Big on Japanese: Miso,

Paulding: The race is on for DA, State Senate and GA House
surepip replied to gpatt0n's topic in Paulding County NEWS
I remember his bill introduced when he was in the legislature making it illegal for women to get genital piercings in Georgia. He lost all credibility with me after that. And his race with Mason Roundtree was one of the most, if not the most dispicable displays of lies printed on paper and mailed out to voters I have ever witnessed. I will give Heath 1 line of credit: When we were fighting the BOE Bond referendum in 2006 and 2007 several emailed him, as well as all our other representatives asking about doing something about putting impact fees on the developers and builders -
When my friends from Brasil first came to one of our poultry seminars in July, we got out of the car at my office, and as we went inside [where it was 66F] Denis turned to me with the sweat already dripping off his brow and said, "This weather is brutal, is this typical or what ?". He lives near Sao Paulo where the humidity never touches ours, and even stated the Amazon in the middle of their summer is no worse than Atlanta. He is used to visiting in January for the IPE poultry show, and he has drug his feet every time he has to come in the summer. The Amazon of North America, and

Did all our prep for 3 chafing dishes of lasagna last night. Italian sausage, ground london broil, onions, peppers and tomato sauce with lots of garlic, parsley, thyme and oregano. Noodles are parboiled, ricotta/cottage cheese and herbs, with 3 pounds of mozzarella. But we are going to wait till tomorrow to assemble and cook. Burgers on the grill, with tomato, lettuce, vidalia and the fixings and fresh fried thinly slice french fries twice fried in duct fat. Deviled eggs, and a rose'

Kroger has cod fillets and Texas shrimp on sale. For less than $5 you can do a fillet, with 8 or 9 shrimp in parchment paper, onion slices, lemon slices, tomatoe slices some parsley and herbs, bake for 10 minutes and serve.

Come out tonight for the Candidate Meet & Greet
surepip replied to DeborahS's topic in Paulding County NEWS
Amen Brother! So few realize how badly King Jerry and company down right DUMPED on us. Add to that the county property they silently stood by and allowed developers to annex into Dallas so they could build out their high density PRDs and NOT have to make their whopping $500 per house "donation" to the BOE, even thought the kids living in the PRDs are going to the county schools. Without SPLOST we can expect a massive millage increase. Pay at the stores, or pay at the cash register, it is your choice. But like the man said, there is not much lean left in the present budget and Austi -
Not necessarily. There are many statewide offices in this primary as well, several of which have Republican canidiates I support and feel strongly about voting for. I am not going to vote a Democrat primary ticket just so I can cast a vote for Avery, who is running un-opposed. But at the same time, I am not going to NOT vote in a local race because I want to vote against someone. Unlike many of you, I vote for Republicans AND Democrats. More Republicans than Democrats over the past 10-15 years, but I was a Republican supporter going back to Bo Calloway in his failed bid for Gove

Come out tonight for the Candidate Meet & Greet

Yes, and No. For a major, major industrial operation, like KIA or Budwieser, what you have is certainly true. But how many of those resettle or build a new plant each year ? We have the intermodal yards in Powder Springs, less than 10 miles from Dallas. That is a deep water port for all intents and purposes. The goods coming and going in those ocean and rail piggyback containers are coming and going to warehouses and industrial facilities from Memphis to Huntsville to Chattanooga to Nashville and Knoxville, as well as all points in between, and they are coming right up 92 and 278 t -
Come out tonight for the Candidate Meet & Greet
surepip replied to DeborahS's topic in Paulding County NEWS
I met Will Avery several weeks ago and was most impressed. And, like you, I might just have to vote for a "D" come November. Education is going to be, along with the budget, THE front burner issue with the Legislature come January and I feel Avery might be the best qualified when it comes to Education. As far as him being "green", I see that with all 4 candidates, so to me that becomes a non-issue. -
5:15 just comes to early for us to get out much during the week. How did everything work our at Starts and Strikes with the various candidates ? Any surprises ?
-
Ah....I just posted in another thread. I was not Martin's campaign manager. I was the treasurer. And for what it is worth, other than the one in my front yard, I never touched a sign.

Please stand corrected. I was not Martin's campaign manager, I was his treasurer. Other than that I am not sure what you are getting at.

Come out tonight for the Candidate Meet & Greet
surepip replied to DeborahS's topic in Paulding County NEWS
And how do we fund the PDOT and Sheriff's department without the SPLOST ? Adam Gregory is steadfast against the SPLOST and without it we lose the Hiram parkway going to 278 plus widening for Wellstar's hospital. Not to mention the Sheriff's department going into the dark ages equipment wise. Can't see us moving forward without the SPLOST. -
I wanted to go to the candidate meet and greet, but 5:15 am just comes too early. We are going to make several pans of Lasagna tomorrow, so we did the sauce, meat, and cooked the noodles tonight. Tomorrow we will make the ricotta cottage cheese sauce with parsley and oregano from the garden. Lasagna freezes well and we will enjoy it tomorrow night and for another 4 or 5 dinners.

Good! Glad to hear it. That was really tacky and trashy looking. We are stuck with the Taj Mahal, I would prefer it at least look nice........even if the roof leaks like a sieve.

Yeah, it does sound a bit like Ithy. I wonder if Pubby can identify the IP address, assuming he is not borrowing someone else's computer. I wasn't picking on Paulette. Best I recall, BOE Board members and employees are not allowed to Lobby for a bond referendum or SPLOST/ELOST. I do not recall Paulette being on the committee to support the bond. I do remember Trudy Sowar, and others stating they could only present the material showing what they wanted to use the funds for, but they could not endorse the referendum one way or another. We met with Paulette concerning prayers at gradu

Which also shows their ignorance of what makes a good commissioner. Graham has impressed me from day one with how he comes to the meetings prepared with his questions and the data to support them. A nice breathe of fresh air instead of the "Group" rubber-stamping every item as presented by the chairman. I also like the fact Tommie Graham understands industrial development and has been one of the very, very few to be successful with providing sites and buidlings for manufacturing/warehousing/industrial companies who provide jobs.

Suggest to look at the links. Money went both ways through the PACs as well as the campaign. I have to assume then your issue is not tied to my statements concerning how HK got paid by the county, over a million in our case alone, and then turned around and donated substantial amounts back to Paulding candidates, in addition to managing many of the Paulding candidates funds via PACS ? Follow the money.....

We don't have to worry about cutting next to the street anymore. Where our pretty, landscaped right of way with a row of 20+ year old silver maples and perrenial flowers were, is now graded down 2' to 4', and filled with debris and gravel. Not even a slope from the property line, just a drop off. So even though we have 3+ acres of gardens, meadows, forest, and lawn, our right of way along the road is 3' tall weeds and jungle. If and when the lawsuits are ever settled I guess we can dig it out, grade it, resod it, and try to make it look nice again. But I hate like hell waiting 20 years fo

Feelip, Your memory is doing well.....all things considered. Paulette was on the BOE during both of the bond votes in 06 and 07. Hence, she, as were all BOE employees, barred from having anything to do with promoting or opposing the referendum IN ANY SORT OF PUBLIC FORUM. She did vote as a BOE member to try for the 2nd referendum though. And in private conversations, including one at my dining room table, she was very much in support of the Bond. For others who don't recall, or were not involved, the Group of us that opposed the bond were not against providing money for the BOE,

TSG, Richardson built his empire on this bit of strategy. He would have zero opposition, yet raise $250,000. Then he would give that money, via the PACs run and administered by Kieth Wiener at Holland & Knight, the law firm the county has used to litigate against us for 4+ years. Then Richardson would donate the money he did not need, since he had no oppostiion, to other candidates around the state, collecting IOUs for later. When the Repubs took power in 2004, Richardson started calling in the IOUs, and between the November election and Thanksgiving he was Speaker, and Holland &
