Lets see if things have changed - Election poll
surepip replied to gpatt0n's topic in Paulding County NEWS
Yes, King Jerry down right lied to us about the Fire Tax. And when he ran again in 2008 he had to stay away from P.com because there was way too many of us who were still smarting from the thrashing we got from him.....but his original comments were all still there in the archives. He basically gave us a 2 mil tax increase while telling us we voted for it......and the fire department is still understaffed. Did you get a reduction on your fire insurance premiums ? I don't think the EPLOST is for renewal until next year. It may end up on a ballot all by itself. I much prefer these refern -
TSG, I would venture to guess Anivitarte and GOPRules/RR both think the government runs on peanuts and cracker jacks. Their analysis of cutting taxes further [i thought the average 17% was pretty good] by reducing services down to the point we don't have any is indeed absurd and ridiculous. They are not out to address issues. They are out to get their candidates elected regardless of what the consequences are. As Whitey used to say, "They have been drinking the Coolaid" My vote on the District 19 seat is undecided at this point as I will be voting in the Republican primary. Bu

DOT, Don't waste your time. Rules and protocol are only meant for "other" people. It is evident the Paulding GOP is divided, into 2 distinct factions on the commission race. Those backing Anivitarte, Cochran, and Collet are quite a few of those active in the Paulding GOP who are precinct captains, past directors and officers, and mainstream. I was under the impression all active members, especially those who are officers, precinct captains and delegates are to remain 100% neutral until after the primary. The Old Guard is running scared of totally losing out in this election. T

Lets see if things have changed - Election poll

As I understand it, ASSUMING we keep going along paying our portion, the Fed matching money will keep coming in as well. I do think we have sufficient SPLOST revenue remaining 2010 and the beginning of 2011 to finish it all the way to 278. SPLOST funding for the county [not talking the BOE here] has been well managed from what I have seen. PDOT, Sheriff's Deparment, and Parks & Rec. All the soccer fields at Braly.....the ball fields at Taylor Park,.....White[y] Oak, and the property for Burnt Hickory and Bulloch is purchased, best I recall. We are between a rock and a hard place. O -

I am afraid though, without the SPLOST renewal, we will be voting for a tax increase. The current budgets are predicated on the SPLOST continuing. Without it there are funds that will have to come in to cover the Sheriff's department, PDOT, 911, and parks and rec. In addition, we will forfeit State and Federal matching funds for road projects such as widening, and finishing the West Hiram Parkway back around to 278. Without that road, we can forget trying to build an industrial park where the old stinky fields are adjacent to the Norfolk Southern tracks. Even basic road repair will cease. -
Left over corn beef and pastrami I did Friday. I think I shall go for an open face Rueben on whole wheat.

GOP Meet & Greet at White Oak Park - Lots of candidates...
surepip replied to surepip's topic in Paulding County NEWS
The airport is,......kind of useable. If you are landing there, and don't know the routine, it may take you awhile to get from the tarmac to the parking lot. You have to hunt for a sign that tells you the airport is only staffed M-F, 8 tp 5. And then tells you to call Blake Swafford, and gives his numbers. After you reach Blake, he gives you the code for punching in to open the gate. It took Gary 45 minutes to fly here from Athens, and another 20 minutes to go from the plane to the car. -
GOP Meet & Greet at White Oak Park - Lots of candidates...

Yes I am helping Gary Black, again. I supported him 4 years ago. I have known him for many years through the poultry industry. I am supporting Mark Butler for Labor Commissioner also, but for me the Ag Department has direct influence on my industry. I invited Gary to this Meet & Greet and my daughter picked him and 2 others up from the Paudling County Airport and brought them to White Oak Park. I had been led to believe the turn out would be 10 times what it was. -
GOP Meet & Greet at White Oak Park - Lots of candidates...
surepip replied to surepip's topic in Paulding County NEWS
For many candidates, especially those seeking statewide offices the Paulding GOP Meet & Greet Saturday was a waste of time, energy and effort simply because there were so few voters there. We arranged to pick up Gary Black, who is running for State Agriculture Commissioner, from the Paulding County Airport and bring him to the Meet & Greet. His time would have been spent much better had he attended another event in another part of the state. I was very disappointed in the turn out, and I think the leadership of the Paulding GOP needs to take a serious look at what they are do -
Is the Paulding County GOP in a Melt-Down? The Meet and Greet today at White[y] Oak Park had 25 to 30 candidates, including 6 or 8 or more for statewide offices, but the candidates were the great majority of the people there. Very few voters at all. Our local Paulding GOP did great at getting those running to come, some from long distances, but where were the voters ? Gingrey, Gary Black, Mark Butler, and others were there for statewide offices. Most, if not all of the local candidates, but not one to "sell their wares to". Many would have been much better off to have spent the da

But then again, you have Chris's Examiner Blog site where he does indeed take the opportunity to smear and bash other GOP candidates he does not support.
-
I actually support quite a few Republican candidates state wide, and for the commission seats. I have to kind of chuckle knowing Ithy can read, but not post. Reckon he will blow a head-gasket ?
-
Insults again. Why am I not surprised! ?
-
What is your beef ? Pubby, correct me if I am wrong, but isn't what I stated the basic ground rule ?
-
Only looking in from the outside, the Paulding GOP Group has some loose cannons, with Chris Collins leading the charge. There is a VERY evident underground support of Cochran, Collett, and Anivitarte/Crowe by the Powers that Be at the Paulding GOP. Ithy and GOP Rules basically confirm this with their posts. I do wonder why Gregory has gotten pushed to the side ? Did he not know Beverly was going to get in the race ? I have to assume his old buddy King Jerry has thrown him under the bus in favor of Beverly. But I do find it rather ironic that the local guys are obviously going ag

We will be there with Gary Black, running for Ag Commissioner. I have had the honor of knowing and working with Gary for many years and he could be a breathe of fresh air at the Ag Department. The Dinosaour long outlived his vested time there and I for one am glad he is moving on. Gary's republican opposition is another dinosaur [71] who is NOT in touch with what is happening in the Ag Industry in Georgia today.
-
I may be paraphrasing Pubby, but I believe the ground rules state that LOCAL races can be left in the countywide news or the Cafe. If it moves to state/federal, then it goes to the political forum.

And the article is full of misinformation and down right lies. It makes untrue STATEMENTS. No opinion, but statements concerning current membership status in the Paulding Builders Association which is incorrect. Can't get much more black and white than that. And Ithy is hard at work trying to trash some other statewide candidates as well with half truths and "quoted" innuendos. But then condemns anyone else doing similar activities to HIS candidates. Yeah, kind of a double standard, but what I have come to expect from the local GOP leadership.
-
I assume Pubby, or someone from his staff will be there filming. Does anyone know if there will be munchies and liquid refreshments ? Cause it is going to be DAYAM hot and brutal out their. I am assuming David Barnett and Todd Pownall are going to be looking to have a "Pow-Wow" with good old Ithy after his slanderous remarks concerning their involvement with the Paulding Builders Association posted to his Paulding Examiner Rag. I want ring side seats for that. David is kind of a big fella, and as I recall Ithy is a bit of a little guy. But hey, he will have Beverly, Jason and Ver

You had to start with the insults again huh. The election 2 years ago had the local GOP "Powers that Be" working hard behind the scenes to get Shearin re-elected. I witnessed it first hand several times with some of those who were past chairman of the local GOP clearly and publicly supporting King Jerry. And they got their collective butts handed to them on a platter. Now this year they are hell-bent on getting THEIR slate of candidates elected. With the demise of Richardson, they realize they will be on the outside looking in if they don't manager to wrestle back control of the BO

He also started the thread trashing Handle. It is almost kind of fun watching the local GOP guys chew each other's butts up. Between Ithy and GOP Rules they seem to have it all under control.

Just brought the Pastrami in from the smoker. Looks good and smells divine. This was a first for me. I have corned my own briskets for years, and boiled them for corned beef. I saw a show a couple of months ago on one of the FoodTV channels about a Deli up North that smoked their own pastrami, and that basically the meat was corned, or preserved in salt, pickling spices, allspice, garlic, peppercorns and cloves the same as corned beef, then slathered with ground pepper and smoked to produce Pastrami. I trim the briskets into 2 separate muscles and removed 90% or so of the fat on

If the false story put on Ithy's Blog about Graham, Barnett and Pownall was not put out "on behalf of the Anavitarte,Collet, Cochran Campaign", then why was it PUT OUT at all ? Looks to me like the Paulding GOP Group is imploding. The "Powers that Be" appear to be endorsing their own slate of GOP candidates while trying to slash and burn other Republican Candidates. They sure are not presenting a united front of any type and are doing their best to beat on each other. Good thing for them there are so few Democratic candidates running for local office.
-
Questions abound! Will the illusive Tony Crowe show up for this event ? I don't believe he has made an event yet has he ? Which of our statewide candidates will attend ? I may go just to see if someone is going to whoop Ithy's butt for what he has been publishing in his rag this week.

Instead of just taking the lemons, you got to try and make lemonade! The corned beef smells wonderful, and the pastrami should be done soon.
