Getting the money now means paying interest on $20 million dollars for at least two years and probably more like five years. We have done this before and it finally caught up with us when we had to float a bond for $125 million just to get caught up, This was/is in addition to all the SPLOST taxes. This is the reason behind the SPLOST TAX being passed two years early If imposition of the tax is approved by the voters, such vote shall also constitute approval of the issuance of general obligation debt of the Paulding County School District in the principal amount of $20,000,000 for the capital outlay purposes described in item ( above and for the payment of capitalized interest Pure and simple the day after the SPLOST is passed the BOE can issue a general obligation bond for $20 million dollars. Nick you really need to be honest and above board when talking about renewal of an existing SPLOST, Facts are the SPLOST that is in place now does not expire until March/April 2016 This is a EARLY renewal in order to obtain some extra funding now. I have never been for the stealth votes I have always maintained that Bond issues should be voted on in a General election and never in a Primary or Special election. There has been a lot of talk about the openness of the meetings with the Airport Authority and Silver Comet partners You can view the open negotiations here on this YouTube. I sincerely hope that every citizen is as incensed as I am over this Deal and subsequent cover up. In less than 90 seconds the airport authority convened agreed on the Silver Comet contract and adjourned. And leased A $60 million dollar asset for up to 40 years.
