Capitalizing on Paulding's Airport ? Yes, No, Maybe
tundra replied to surepip's topic in Paulding County NEWS
Aren't they voting on the bonds Tuesday?? Are there more bonds than the 3.6 mil or the 4.8 million bonds on the agenda Tuesday?? Are you trying to say Todd voted yes for bonds on things he knew nothing about? -
So now the Bush's are responsible for the debacle in Paulding County? Really, really. Next are you going to say Bush made them keep secrets, not only from the community but another board member?

Great observations, thank you. I could be wrong but....... saying Mr. Pownall was intentionally kept in the dark probably isn't helping anyone. -
The videos of the meeting and vote are posted on my FB page.

The big question is, what if we HAD to do this? I wouldn't like it but I could probably survive.

The lease is between the Industrial Building Authority and Silver Comet Terminal Partners, LLC Easy to obtain through the open records act.

This was released on October 15 by the AJC http://www.myajc.com...btomyajc_launch

See that's the thing about performance bonds. They are only as good as your assets. When you have 150 - million dollar bonds, you need to have 150 million dollars in assets to cover them. Now will every project you are covered with that million go bad? Probably not unless the bottom falls out of the housing market and the money dries up. Bonds are basically useless, they are really only good for ONE project. When you have multiple projects going on at the same time, the bond is only as good as your assets.

I'd also like to know when we're going to get our gravel road leveled and regraveled. It's only been 2 years and 6 phone calls in the last few months. Seems like the county has lots of money to spend at the airport.

And all the empty buildings in and around the downtown area where those meth heads and punks congregate. Businesses that are long gone.

No when we built our house in 1993, there wasn't a subdivision around for miles, let alone an airport. We moved here to get away from all the land gutting that was going on East of 61. This is nothing new. It's been going on since the put in the "4 Lane" to bring all those jobs 27 years ago. We've been lied to for years. Here's a better map. http://www.pauldinga...ncroachment.pdf

To speak out against our commissioners and the Airport Authority on the latest proposals. They are afraid "people" will come after them, destroy their lives and make them very uncomfortable. The are posting under assumed names, creating opposition web sites and Facebook pages anonymously for fear of retribution. They are afraid who they should trust, who they should speak to and how much information they should share. I grew up in Chicago, one of the most corrupt areas in the nation. I moved the Georgia to get away from the corruption, nepotism and cronysim. Never in a million years d

I have a couple of questions, can this not be done without passenger flights? And another one, what is the track record of success of Brett Smith and Propeller Investments? It appears the county will again be on the hook for the cost if the FAA shoots this down, I've read the lease agreement. It's actually a 20 year lease with two 10 year options at the end of the lease. So the taxpayers on on the hook for the initial cost of bringing this up to be approved by the FAA. The relationship with Todd and the rest of the commissioners is very much like the relationship of the Com

That is so awesome!! I'm sure those residents of Clear Creek will be so excited to hear this. Their home values are going up!!

Yea, you need to double check that Google Map, I see three subdivisions to the East with many houses really close to that airport and an elementary school. Here, you can see for yourself. It's definitley not miles and miles. Now back up the other way, West and see how many subdivisions there are. Jones Mill, Fairview and Oak something. SIX subdivisions within close proximity of the airport. One side, one side only is a wildlife management area. https://maps.google....ved=0CAgQ_AUoAg A little further West (about another mile) you have 3 subdivisions combined with over 600 house

NO they haven't, they were elected for all the people in Paulding County, even those poor families that live at the end of the runway. When you are elected to represent everyone, you don't go crapping on the ones that are in your way. I hope Pownall runs against Austin in the next election.

So money is more important than people? There are approximately 3000 houses in subdivisions and one elementary school withing a five mile radius of the airport that 737s will be flying over. What do you think is going to happen to those 3000 people and their familes? What about the residents of Clear Creek that are at the end of that runway? Who's going to make up for their lost property values, noise and air polution? But yea, they are only families, money is all that matters. SMH What if this was in your driveway?

If you would have asked me, I would have told you who I was.

Thank you for the explanation however, I was under the impression this board kept member identities private. It wasn't until I got off the phone with the person I trust that I realized you knew my name. He just mentioned you spoke to him about me. You did absolutely nothing wrong, accept my apology this was not directed at you.I have no problem with you knowing who I am.
-
Wondering how Jamie Gilbert knew who I was, yea he knew my real name.

See this is what I've been trying to say, they don't have their ducks in a row. While attracting new business is a must, keeping in touch with your existing business is also important. I have no idea why they banned stucco, nor do I care. It was their loss, we continue to provide quality work all over the Southeast. It was not my place to contact them but their job. A bird in the bush is worth two in the hand.
-
Well, sort of but it was a little difficult when they banned stucco on 278 and Business 6.

I get tax bills every year and I pay them. We've been in the same location for 14 years and the other one 9 years before that. So I'm guessing they "should" know what businesses exist in Paulding. Todd Pownall, knows exactly who we are and what we do. But then he is our post commissioner. We've also been chamber members for all those years. Kevin knows me well.

You realize we don't do houses, right. We do whole shopping centers, condos, theaters, banks, schools, all commercial applications. We have done entire shopping malls, the one in Orange Beach Alabama was my favorite. So yea, we've been a mulitmillion business in Paulding for over 20 years, they didn't give us the time of day.
