Airport discussed at Tuesday's commission meeting

Wouldn't it have been wise to have funding in place before you start construction? Seriously you aren't paying attention are you? -
The Judge ruled the residents do not have to post a bond.

Yes the FAA approved a fire station for a GENERAL AVIATION airport, not one with commercial service. Please, post ALL the facts, not just the ones you pick an choose. -

So narrow minded. Do you realize how many people that work for Delta live in Paulding. Now until they pay no property taxes and don't buy anything in Paulding, you cannot say there is no economic benefit from Delta. The people that filed the lawsuit are NOT stopping the fire station, the FAA is because someone tried to skirt the inspections that included commercial service. Truth!! If they were so worried about those West Paulding folks, this fire station should have been built years ago, it's being built with SPLOST and Fire Tax funds. Nothing would have stopped the constructio -
Reproduction roulette ... if you had a devastating genetic disease ...
tundra replied to gpatt0n's topic in RECENT TOPICS
No, no, no!! As a family member with several cases of autism from severe to mild I cannot imagine my life without any of those people in it. This is selective reproduction and SHOULD NOT be allowed. I would much rather see those genetic research dollars and time being spent curing those with genetic afflictions instead of selection. This is wrong on so many levels. So very wrong. -

You'd be amazed what some of the current business owners think of this airport expansion and the way it has been handled. Yes, some of them are chamber members, too. -
If you are going to use it to heat a room, one of those oil filled ones are safer. If you just need it for a garage or work area when you are using it, those others work great.

Why do they need more land? What are they going to use it for? Haven't we been told there is no way to expand the airport further? Yikes!! -

Well said!! Yes, Delta's impact is far reaching, not just at Hartsfield and Atlanta. Thank you. -

Back to the hold on the construction. This is a result of the Environmental Assessment required by the FAA because 6 residents believed new assessments should have been completed prior to the expansion. This was the agreement reached with the FAA. -

Bahahahahaha you know this has NOTHING to do with the lawsuits, it's because they didn't do the environmental studies for the expansion. They can't move ANY dirt until that assessment is complete. That firehouse is not being built with any money from the bonds or the loan. I take it you're fine with our elected and appointed officials skirting the studies. I'm not. 1/2 truths are not what people want to hear. -
What? Can we say, Anti-SLAPP? OMG, it's the Morrison's all over again. Big difference is there are a lot more people engaged in because this is a PUBLIC project.

People need to realize this has NOTHING to do with the 3.5 million bond challenge or the 1 million dollar loan from the IBA to the AA. This has to do with the FAA agreement that has been settled because the COUNTY didn't do the proper environmental studies. This has nothing to do with any pending lawsuit!! N.O.T.H.I.N.G. Shame on the commissioners for pointing the finger at citizens asking them to do the right thing. Remember when you point a finger, three of them are pointing back at YOU. -
NW Georgia Bypass Toll Road - would it have helped Tuesday?
tundra replied to surepip's topic in RECENT TOPICS
I don't think it would, especially with the cost of fuel. Trucks are not supposed to use 75/85 through Atlanta unless they are making a delivery in Atlanta, they are supposed to use 285. According to the news reports there were hundreds stuck that had no deliveries as required. If they won't use 285, why would they use a route even further out, losing hours and spending more in fuel? Like most people in business, they are looking for the fastest way to make the most money. -

^ ^ ^ ^ She gets it. BTW, you do have a dog in this fight. Your taxpayer dollars are funding this expansion, you've been funding this airport before it was opened. The one that wasn't going to cost the taxpayers one dime. This airport is a money pit, just like the movie studio. The group they signed the contract with is an investment firm, a hedge fund. -

I don't think you understand. This firehouse could have and should have been built years ago, no one is opposed to building the fire station and 911 center. The funds are coming from SPLOST and the fire tax. Why all the sudden is it important when it wasn't before? Because they want commercial service and can't move forward without the fire station. The issue is why are they blaming the citizens for delaying this? Remember when you point a finger, you are pointing three back at yourself. -

Sooooo, all of the sudden this firehouse and 911 center are a priority? They are using SPLOST money and a little Fire Tax money to build these, they had 5 years but suddenly the citizens matter? Or do they only matter because they want commercial airlines? -

Nah, there were 100s of trucks in the city on I 75/85 that were supposed to be using 285, why would they go all the way around there if they won't use 285. I truly don't think it would solve a thing except for maybe those truckers coming from Birmingham going to Chattanooga, but again they already have I 59 to do that and it's free. -
While I'm sure it doesn't make most citizens happy, at least they have a way to keep up with what's going on. Copies of agreements are even available. Thanks for posting this LR.
