  1. Not sure what makes anyone think this will be different because it's in Paulding County. There are other airports in close proximity to HJIA that have interstate access, they too are seeing decline. But you see I DO take time to read and research articles on this subject, this is what concerns me. Wishing and hoping Paulding will be different won't make it so. Aviation jobs are declining as airports consolidate all over the US.
  2. According the the BLS, most avaiation related jobs will see little to zero growth through 2022. http://www.bls.gov/ooh/occupation-finder.htm Aircraft and Avionics Equipment Mechanics and Technicians 2% - Little or no change http://www.bls.gov/ooh/installation-maintenance-and-repair/aircraft-and-avionics-equipment-mechanics-and-technicians.htm Aerospace Engineering and Operations Technicians - 0- http://www.bls.gov/ooh/architecture-and-engineering/aerospace-engineering-and-operations-technicians.htm Assemblers and Fabricators 4% slower than average. http://www.bls.gov/ooh/produc
  3. Yes, I have learned more in the last 4 months than I ever wanted to know. As someone elsewhere said the incestuous relationship between the IBA and and the PCAA really needs to be looked at, closely.
  4. Oh no!! Do they have somewhere to go? They can come here.
  5. Yea and they don't even own that land. More cart for the horse to push uphill. Google Agenda 21 and tell me what you come up with. How many homeowners are hooked into that bazillion dollar sewer line that they just ran to the airport? The one that is also being paid for with bonds.
  6. Here's the Franco plan. I know you've seen it. http://www.pauldingairport.us/PDFs/Paulding_Article%202Dec06%20Final.pdf
  7. I agree with every bit of this!! However the Jamie Gilbert part gets a +1000. I sometimes wonder why they don't use his expertise. He's a genuine asset that often gets put out on a limb. The projects I've seen Jamie bring to the table are viable businesses with real job potential. The other things like the airport and movie studio, na, not so much.
  8. Make sure you include the cost of the Franco Plan that cost thousands of dollars. I doubt anyone has added those costs to the 65 million.
  9. Sleet, freezing rain, wind 31° in Yorkville. 1/8" ice/sleet on the deck.
  10. Sleet, freezing rain, wind, 31 degrees in Yorkville. Stay safe, warm and dry everyone.
  11. We have a fireplace, a generator, a gas stove and a gas water heater. If you need somewhere to keep warm, need a warm meal or a hot shower, our door is open to friends and neighbors.
  12. Thanks NJ, these inflated market trends are reminiscent of the dot com bubble and the housing crash.
  13. Praying for the best, expecting the worst. Gas stove, gas water heater, fireplace, generator, candles, lanterns, portable beds. I "hope" we're prepared.
  14. Paulding Northwest Atlanta airport will be different, how? Show me! I think the MIT study shows quite the opposite. The current mangagment "believes". LMBO Where's the market study, where are the had facts? You can't take two airports and average their traffic to come up with a number, that's not how it works, but you already know that. Let Atlanta have 20 million more passengers, they are efficient, they know what they are doing, they have a proven track record. No I don't see viability for Paulding Northwest Atlanta Airport. I see a money pit. Pipe dreams and speculation,
  15. Interesting indeed, how many of those that support the commercialization aren't Paulding Residents and they are complaining about Delta? LMBO
  16. What part of I want industry, I want jobs do you not understand? I own two commercial buildings on 278 and another 3.8 acres 1 mile from the airport. We can and should be able to bring industry to Paulding County without commercial air service. Polk, Floyd and Carrollton have been very successful in doing just that, with no airport or interstate access. I do not want the general aviation airport to fail, I don't want commercial air service. Leave it at HJIA where it belongs.
  17. Ha! If you have a good business plan, you should submit it to your banker(Paulding county taxpayers), just saying. On October 4,2013, that business plan should have been available. It wasn't. Excuses, excuses, excuses. Delta has nothing to do with what Silver Comet Terminal Partners, LLC and 4 of our Commissioners are doing. Pointing fingers is NOT a good business plan or a valid excuse. Bring on the jobs, bring on the industry, leave the commercial flights at HJIA!
  18. So you're saying Silver Comet Terminal Partners, LLC should have such a business plan like that you mention? Would you please share that with us. Since Paulding County Taxpayers are the "bankers" in this venture, I would think having a looksie at that business plan would make many of us feel better about what they are planning. What part of Aviation related industry is growing? Why can't they bring jobs to the airport without commercial service? Bring on the JOBS, bring on the INDUSTRY, LEAVE the commercial flights at HJIA where they belong.
  19. The 2013 MIT study says small and mid size airports are facing growing down sizing. http://dspace.mit.edu/bitstream/handle/1721.1/78844/Trends%20and%20Market%20Forces%20Small%20Community.pdf The lastest BLS shows all aviation related jobs declining through 2025. http://www.bls.gov/ooh/occupation-finder.htm But Northwest Paulding County Airport will be different, it will bring Jobs, Jobs, Jobs. (sarcasm) Bring on the Jobs, bring on the industry, leave the commercial flights at Hartsfield Jackson International Airport!
  20. Delta is involved? I know I haven't talked to anyone from Delta about any of this. I do know about vindictive actions, however. Delta is not ignoring citizens, laughing at them behind their backs or trying to switch the focus off of how all this came about. Whether you want to admit it or not the people that made these decisions, with no input from the voting public, brought all this on themselves. Finger pointing is not becoming in Washington, DC and it's not in Paulding County either.
  21. This is such BS, 13 years ago we built two commercial buildings. We got nothing, not even a welcome. I have always been for growth, industry and jobs. Bring them on! Leave the commercial flights at Hartsfield where they belong! Yes, I'd also like to see the data, the studies, the facts on how they came up with ''thousands of above average jobs".
  22. Bring on the business, bring on the jobs, bring on the industry and leave the commercial flights at Hartsfield where they belong. Oh and BTW, IF I needed a metal building built, Roy Sparks would be who I called. (edited to add color for stradial)
  23. If you plan on using your Coleman propane/gas stove during a power outage, do not use it indoors. The carbon monoxide risks are too great. They are designed for outdoor use or use in a well ventilated area.
