  1. Now we use the fear factor...........Everyone is going to die without health insurance! Gah! :runningaroundwringingmyhands: Goodness, medical insurance shouldn't be a factor whether or not someone gets good healthcare. 40 years ago I had the best healthcare in town, I could afford it because only "rich" folks had health insurance. Doctor and hospital combined for the birth of my son, $350.00. Do away with health insurance companies all together and watch how those medical costs come down. But no, it's much easier to scare people into thinking there is only one way and it includes
  2. Quit putting words in my mouth. I said nothing about hating anyone. This is all about money, more money for those insurance companies that supported Obamacare. You obviously can't move beyond the "hate" factor.
  3. Olive oil and Canadian steak seasoning, bake about 20-30 minutes.
  4. I have said this over and over and over. Our health care system is broken because of the insurance industry. The healthcare industry was instrumental in pushing Obamcare through. Expanding a business through the government that is notorious for not caring about people was and continues to be a HUGE mistake. Ask yourself why the insurance industry was so eager to get this pushed through.
  5. I guess it had to be a slow news day. I don't know Judge Osborne well but my contact with him has always been that of a good person. He never told me but I could tell he was distraught over the death penalty case he presided over. Giving someone a ride is a generous thing to do. I doubt he'll even consider doing that again, and that's sad. I do not believe what he and his daughter did was right. Yes they need to answer for that and they will pay for it for years to come. I think it's time we moved beyond crucifying this family and think about the future and where Paulding is headed.
  6. I do believe you may have missed where he said the price was rising, then it fell. If it fell it's because other values in the area fell as well. Is Zillow accurate? Probably not, however it does reflect ups and downs in the market based on recent home sales in the area.
  7. Bahahahahahahaha. What a spin! But then again you are a democrat that believes government is the answer to everything. With Federal money there is ALWAYS strings, always. You can't pull the wool over this southern born and bred girl. I think we were one of the few people in Chicago that ate beans, cornbread and grits. Sure did miss my Old Kentucky Home all those years in Chicago.
  8. I heard they would only pave the streets that actually had houses on them. Under normal circumstances, when a subdivision has been completed, the roads become the responsibility of the county. This is no different than usual except the builders didn't finish what they were supposed to. Most of them are not out of business but merely operating under a different cloak of protection. I will reiterate, bonds are not worth the paper they are written on. Beware if you do business with a company that claims it's "bonded". If they have two projects going on simultaneously, there probably aren
  9. Animal NO ONE I know is anti-growth. I've lived in Paulding County 30 years and even though you wish to claim otherwise, Paulding has grown A LOT in those 30 years. The compromise is do everything they want with the exception of Commercial Service. With a competent Airport Manager, a general aviation airport can bring in aerospace industry, manufacturing and high-tech. We don't need commercial service to accomplish those things. Why are they so fixated on commercial service?
  10. Commercial service takes us to a whole new realm to include TSA, Federally secured premises, control towers, FAA control. There will be no limit as to how many flights a day can go out of that airport. No one but the FAA has control over it. What is it you are so obsessed with about commercial air service? Is the million+ dollars the federal government will give the county vs the $150,000 per year? See I know how many string come attached to Federal money. The more you get, the more strings. No one has given me one thin dime, can you say the same Pubby a/k/a G. Patton Huges for
  11. Bottom line, if you don't have enough assets to cover all the jobs/work you are doing, the bond is useless. Another racket for the insurance companies and the attorneys to make money. In the end you just have to file bankruptcy and walk away. You can start a new business the next day. Bonds are useless, I learned that 20 years ago.
  12. Everyone should be able to carry a gun where ever they go. It's a constitutional right. Anything beyond that is an infringement on that right.
  13. It blows my mind you actually support a law firm over a fellow citizen, but then again that's how they've always done things around here. Someone pass the weed down this way, I want to feel as self important as this poster.
  14. This is Bull Chit. That speaker is a chicken hawk, a wanna be military guy that NEVER served. He gets his talking points from the same person Pubby does. We can bring in jobs, we can bring in industry WITHOUT commercial service. Leave the passenger flights at Hartsfield where they belong. You can't have people running a commercial airport with no experience. Neither the airport director we've been paying since 2006 or Brett Smith have EVER run an airport before. Do you really trust them to make a commercial airport successful when they failed at General Aviation? No one is anti
  15. Thank you for restoring some of our second amendment rights that should not have been "infringed" on to start with. This is a good law.
  16. Irresponsible spending is irresponsible spending. If you are interested in expanding medicare, surely you have the foresight to recommend where other cuts should be made. Screaming you want something without a suitable solution is why tax increases take advantage of everyone, everyone. The insurance industry has ruined good healthcare, now some want the government to completely demolish it.
  17. Each and every day this is beginning to look more and more like the place I grew up. I thought I left all that behind when I came back home to the South. I understand not everyone has to endure the Al Capone like environment including his "hitman". There was a reason I didn't like living there and this little county is beginning to look very much like it. I thought intimidation and vendettas were a thing of the past, I'm thinking I was probably wrong.
  18. If the bonds aren't enforceable, their not worth the paper they're written on. We pay legal counsel to ensure the bonds are what's necessary. The insurance company made money, those bonds aren't cheap, the attorneys made money and the citizens are left holding the bag. This begs the question, is legal council retained by the county doing everything within the limits of the law to protect the taxpayers? Being in the construction industry, construction lawyers are few and far between. We do have an awesome group in Marietta that specializes in construction law and one of them lives in
  19. Thank you mojo413. Didn't want to mention names. Guess I shouldn't have said anything but this thread took me by surprise. Then to be called a liar just made it worse. I have to say, the screen name of the new poster is appropriate for a mafioso like mentality.
  20. Inept or entirely too trusting of his colleagues. Because someone asks a question that is answered in way they want to answer, doesn't make an honest man inept.
  21. Well, I guess I'm just making it up. Might want to check with Blake. Newby who knows me by my first name. The supreme quality for leadership is unquestionably integrity. Without it, no real success is possible, no matter whether it is on a section gang, a football field, in an army, or in an office. Dwight D. Eisenhower
  22. I disagree. If I got in trouble at school, I was in more trouble at home. Too much coddling and too little respect for authority today. The injuries were real, any expert could have determined if the photos posted were real or not. Slamming a desk on a students hand and grabbing a phone (that's not supposed to be used at school) are two completely different things. Good God and we wonder what's wrong with kids today. TNlamb, the jury could only be mislead because the kid didn't post the truth. The truth is always on your side. I didn't see any indication the kid went to prison.
