-
St. Radial, I think I love you..........shhhhh, don't tell the misses. You rock, you make sense, and this has to be the most quoted post on Pcom. Thank you.

Braswell Mountain is in Paulding County, this section happens to be in Polk. Still Praying.
-
Funny (yea I'm old), this was predicted in the 70s when ATM cards came in to being. Took 40 years but we knew it was coming. Don't throw us old folks away. We're not as dumb as you think.
-
Prayers for the firefighters and forestry commission in Rockmart and Polk County. This is VERY close to Paulding.

Doing background checks or even credit checks without written authorization is a no-no.
-
Yea, it didn't have anything to do with intimidation or background checks. Of course it was for a better opportunity.

DAVID AUSTIN AND CENSORSHIP OF COUNTY MEETINGS
tundra replied to DOT's topic in Paulding County NEWS
What is it that TP says? Chicken Little says the sky is falling? Something like that. Those scare tactics were used in the 70s, 80s, 90s, and 2000s. Gah........... Atlanta is going to build an airport in Paulding County............we have to do something before they do it. Then they even went so far as to tell everyone they were running out of landfill space in Atlanta, building an airport would prevent them from doing that. Quite likely if we got 139 certification, it would be much easier for Atlanta to move in and take over the failed airport. They'd have the go ahead to do wha -

Buttt, it's the way it's always been done. You know Gentleman's agreements and all. -
With absolutely no discussion what they vote on. Angenda item, motion to approve, second, any discussion - nope, all in favor- unanimous. It's done.

For an airport to be "done right" you have to have someone running the airport that knows what they are doing. If they can't "run" a General Aviation airport, how does anyone expect them to run a Commercial airport? Seriously, done right a General Aviation airport can bring more and better paying jobs than a Commercial airport. Just look at McCullom Field in Kennesaw, it's not got one "commercial" flight. Has no 139 certification and it's doing just fine. No, it's doing GREAT!!

Where oh where have I heard this song before............oh snap that's right those are the stipulations in the contract with Propeller for the terminal building. You know the one Blake Swafford signed for the IBA. Have you seen a copy of that lease?
-
All you have to do is look at Douglas County, less than 5 minutes to the interstate, 20 minutes to the airport and their convention center is losing thousands of dollars a day!!

I find it hysterical that people say I'm opposed to building this community. I am a small business owner in the construction field. He!! planning and zoning passed an ordinance that prohibits stucco or EIFS on 278 or business 6 and I'm the anti business person? There are at least 6 stucco businesses in Paulding County that I'm aware of. And we can't put our product out there, in our own county? Planned growth with public input via referendum is the RIGHT way to do this if you're using taxpayer money. Not pie in the sky dreams like film studios and airports. The hospital, the memory
-
Yes, the IBA has done nothing but cost us. Economic Development is who brought these businesses to Paulding NOT the IBA. The IBA is an authority, not a branch of the government that is bound by the same rules. mrnn, I understand the role of the IBA quite well, I've read the legislation that supports it's existence. I think you are the one that's confused. It's time to dissolve it, they have overstepped their authority too many times, especially in the last 10 years.
-
Things you should always ask, is it affordable, is there a need, what is the return on investment, if this was your personal money, would you do this? The IBA is not a business, it is here to facilitate business, with private investment. Can you name one project the IBA has done in the last 20 years that's been successful?
-
Heck, it's time to get rid of the Authorities altogether!

Is this a violation of first amendment rights. You can speak but only the people in the room will be allowed to hear it. The He!! with those people that can't afford to take off work to babysit the BOC, PCAA, IBA and BOE. This is NOT the way America works. Those same cameras are available for all these meetings except the BOE. Yea Whitey, I can't believe a so called "journalist" is okay with suppressing citizen voices. Really Pubby, if you don't want to listen to it, there is a little button on the bottom of the video recording that allows you to skip that part. Wanna know s -
Never done the whole trip but we drove from LA to North of San Francisco. Loved the San Joaquin Valley with all the produce and fruit trees, the Sequoia National Forest, Alcatraz, the Golden Gate Bridge, Kilroy = garlicky Malibu Beach, Hearst Castle, We stayed in Pismo Beach. Not all of this is on that SR1 trip, a lot of it is off the beaten path. My DIL grew up in San Francisco/Fresno so we got the hometown tour, not the touristy one.

We really need to breath some new life into our BOE. I saw a Facebook post by a BOE member with horrible grammar and spelling. Another one thought Abraham Lincoln was a great "Founding Father". The BOE appoints the superintendent, most think the one we have walks on water. I couldn't make the meeting, but I heard Kim Cobb was going to try to record it for those that couldn't get there. Many thanks to Kim for all she does, she goes out of her way to help any citizen that asks, always.

The contracts expired in December, they had to have a special called meeting to renew the contracts that were renewed on a month to month basis. So with the Film Studio drowning in debt and the taxpayers footing the bill to the tune of at least a 2 million dollar loss, they vote on what Mr. Swafford recommends with no questions, no discussion, nothing to indicate they know what they are doing. And they needed a special called meeting to do this? This couldn't have been taken care of at the regular meeting in January or next week at the regular meeting in February. Maybe all of this wa

**********Edited to clairfy, this is not a BOE meeting, that's tomorrow night. It's a public meeting at the BOE. If you have a child in Paulding Schools, you might want to make sure you attend this meeting. They will be discussing some big changes. This didn't copy well. Here's the info: http://www.paulding.k12.ga.us/userfiles/2/announcements/February%209%2C%202015%20Stakeholders%20Meeting.pdf Paulding County School District Stakeholders Meeting Monday, February 9, 2015 6:30 pm Paulding County Board of Education 3236 Atlanta Highway, Dallas GA 770-443-8000 Paulding County School Dist

DAVID AUSTIN AND CENSORSHIP OF COUNTY MEETINGS

All I'm going to say about this is look where those educated fools have gotten us.............are we better off since Hoover? I see a bunch of educated idiots, one a supposed Constitutional Scholar, circumventing the Constitution every chance he gets. There's that Ivy League education for you. It's time we realize no matter how much education one has, it doesn't necessarily make them smarter or a better person for the job. As far as speaking goes, I assure you I don't do it for five minutes of video. I do keep hoping something I say will make our BOC understand, from a citizens poi -
Hey, I'm more inclined to morph toward the yellow and green ones, I like corner locations. Especially Marvin Gardens and Pacific Avenue. It's where the cool kids stay.
