hahahaha, I'm not all that excited. LOL Seriously as the buildings come up to renew rental, because we know they are seldom corporate owned, you bet your bippy they'll go other places to save money. They do it every day, Kroger, Publix, Kmart, all closed when their leases expired. Mom and pops are the heart beat of America, they will go if this happens. I'm not real happy about that.

Wait, are you saying they can't fly in to McCollum or Cartersville? Propeller doesn't care about the citizens of Paulding County. And you're right I don't trust Propeller.
-
Yes, I have looked at Batow lately, it's a great GENERAL AVIATION airport. No passenger planes, no part 139, they're doing great. Nothing that you said rationalizes commercial airlines coming into our airport. BTW, the airport (race car) has wheels, some people just want to jack those cars up. Won't make them go any faster, just maybe look prettier and cost a lot more. Our airport has everything it needs to make it successful already, just needs someone that knows what they are doing to run it. Does anyone think Propeller is looking out for Paulding County?

This will effect everyone in Paulding County. Think, where do LOST, SPLOST and ESPLOST dollars come from? That's right retail sales!! If those businesses pack up and move out, we'll be looking at 278, the ghost town. Won't that be appealing! It's absurd they would even consider this! Come to think of it, all of us need to be at that meeting!

You might want to attend the Hiram City Council meeting on September 1, they are talking about how they calculate your business tax. Gross receipts is a whole lot more than number of employees. They will also require a copy of your tax return if they go this route. If I were a business owner in Hiram, I'd be very concerned about this. Notice of Public Hearing for public comment on the method of calculating Occupation Tax As we approach the 2016 Occupation Tax Certificate renewal season, we would like to inform you that the governing authority of the City of Hiram is considering a c

Well if you must know, Paulding already flies..........yes there is nothing stopping corporate jets, personal planes, even charters from flying into our airport. As a matter of fact they already do, albeit in very, very small numbers. Heck little Stockmar airport in Villa Rica has 47 T-hangers with a 80% occupancy rate. Great folks over there BTW, that have a few Paulding pilots planes parked there, too back Paulding can't have that tax revenue. I guess if you haven't been to a PCAA meeting and heard the FBO director's report you wouldn't know about take offs, landings and touch-n-g

Those bells and whistles are not necessary, it's like dressing an 8 year old like she's 18. There is no real reason to bring commercial service to our airport. Nothing has been suggested otherwise. We can bring MR & O without commercial service. In fact commercial flights take precedence over all others. Did you know the FBO director paid for the new tower at McCollum? Brett Smith was going to pay for a temporary one, until someone else built the permanent one. Smith has minimal investment at the airport, tell me what he has done except remodel one room in the terminal, tell me

No one has told me why we need a commercial airport, yet. Everything LPPT talks about can be done at a General Aviation airport, charters, shuttles. We don't need commercial planes to get people to the Sports Complex in Emmerson.

Of course we want jobs, we want business, we want a successful general aviation airport. Nothing that I have seen from the pro-commercial supporters needs commercial service. I guess you didn't read my post. Did you know Paine Field in Washington state is home to Boeing and is a General Aviation airport? Since 1966 Boeing has built planes there and helped in securing 30,000 jobs for the area. Say yes to General Aviation, no Part 139!! Can one person, just one, tell me why we need commercial service? That money the airport might get from the FAA? The taxpayers wouldn't see

I'm not anti-airport, I'm anti-commecialization, my position has remained the same from the beginning. No you can't just go back if it doesn't work, if Part 139 is issued, it's there, forever. You can't undo Part 139 just because you want to. Look at Macon, 139 certificate, no airline is interested in almost a year. Ben Epps in Athens, 139 certificate, no carrier. You can't go back, you have to keep the airport open per the FAA. Macon and Ben Epps couldn't average 10 passengers a day so their Federal Funding (AIP) is going to dry up and the taxpayers will be left holding the bag, keeping a

Oh and jobs, lots and lots of jobs!! 840+

Yes McCollum airport in Kennesaw, Cobb County is a General Aviation airport with NO 139 certificate. They spent $25,000 to study the best use of the airport, commercial flights weren't it. They decided to leave those in Atlanta. Oh and the taxpayers don't have to foot the bill, they're paying their own. New international terminal for flights from the Bahamas and Canada, no commercial planes to worry about. They'd take priority, the FAA says so. New Control Tower paid for through private business, no burden on the taxpayers............ Here's what the economic development dire

Insurgent Commissioners saved tax payers millions today
tundra replied to WHITEY's topic in RECENT TOPICS
Back to the topic, yes the three commissioners that are actually doing what they campaigned on, saved the taxpayers millions, regardless of what some want you to believe. The 911 center can begin construction any day, they don't' have to wait for an environmental assessment to be complete. Now we need them to work on getting that fire station on 278 for the residents, the airport can build it's own since a lame duck BOC handed them those county assets with no strings attached, well except they still need taxpayer money to survive. Thank you Todd, Tony and Vernon! Your part time job -

Not hardly, I'm a realist. You don't get to feel more than others, just because you think you own it. You need a reality check, seriously. I'm done for the night, rest well. -

No claiming you suffered more or understand more is idiotic, selfishness is UN-American. We all felt the struggle. They didn't attack New York, they attacked America. My family, my friends, my country. -

All of America stood by the souls that were lost. It's wasn't unique to New Yorkers. 9-11 was from sea to shining sea America!! You can't claim that for yourself. -

You know hate isn't exclusive to Southerners, right? I know a bunch of hateful Yankees, in fact I know many more hateful Yankees than rednecks. Sometimes you just can't fit in, no matter how phoney you pretend to be. -

Can't ask for a better person than Lowrider, she rocks. I'll take her "redneck" ways over that of a "dirty Yankee" any time. -

I absolutely don't understand or give a sh*t where you are coming from. I certainly don't want to be anywhere you are. Boyd Austin has "killed" Pumpkinvine Creek, as a tree hugging liberal that should concern you. -

They might, but it doesn't negate what the city of Dallas has done to Pumpkinvine Creek. It's not a secret the city has been fined hundreds of thousands of dollars. http://green-law.org/item/83820?mode=p http://www.southeastgreen.com/index.php/news/georgia/956-city-of-dallas-notified-of-prospective-lawsuit-on-wastewater-pollution - See more at: http://www.southeastgreen.com/index.php/news/georgia/956-city-of-dallas-notified-of-prospective-lawsuit-on-wastewater-pollution#sthash.ljgJILz8.dpuf r -

It is a non-issue but you are correct they could not use the existing lines. I have since found out they need two separate lines in case one went down, they need a back up, and they could not be run overhead or down 278. Thus the huge additional cost. Oh and Pumkinvine creek is considered "dead" from all the raw sewage Boyd pumped in it.
