I guess Pubby missed the memo about how Atlanta wants to deal with that property. They have a plan, let's see if he can find it.

I guess you didn't go to the town hall meeting in Post 4? -
Wow, imagine that politicians shoving something down our throats that the people didn't want, promising to save us all kinds of money and reducing our costs. No matter how much we objected and said no way is it going to save us money, they did it anyway. Sounds just like some stuff going on right here in Paulding County. If you don't see the similarities, you can't see the forest for the trees.

Someone else posted this in another thread, thank you http://www.myajc.com/news/business/hartsfield-jackson-eyes-airport-area-dawson-proper/npbx9/

Cousins already has a stake in that 9400 acres. They have first right of refusal along with some other folks if Atlanta wants to sell it. I don't understand why folks are playing this game again, please get your facts straight before you start running your fingers, filling people with crazy information. When they built this airport we were assured it would keep Atlanta from developing that 9400 acres into an airport. Then we were told we had to do this so they couldn't put a land fill in there, the city was running out of room to dump it's trash. People wake up, the powers that

Nothing is wrong with serving people, that includes the residents that live within a five mile radius of this airport who happen to be taxpayers. What about government servicing them? Where are their sewers, their county water, their trash services? What is the county providing them while they continually throw more money in this pit? What about serving the people on Mt. Moriah road and the church that is toting in water to flush toilets? What about sewer to large parcels of property that have been for sale for years and unable to move because of the lack of sewers? I guess they coul -

And what about our school board member, Richard Manous, that thinks the schools are going to be helped by this and single moms will be able to support their families with the part time jobs commercial service will create........... I grow tired of people screaming "it's for the kids", when in fact this will be detrimental to thousands of children that live within 5 miles of that airport. We have Poole Elementary, Ragsdale Elementary, Union Elementary and Scoggins Middle School in that 5 mile area. 800 students x 4, Allgood is in the flight path and is just at the end of that 5 mile radius -

I was a Chamber member for over 20 years, it didn't used to be like it is today. I refuse to renew my membership until the current director is GONE They used to care about small businesses, now if you don't have 5,000 to get a seat on the board, you're a nobody. Oh, you "might" get an email. I went to a lot of 1st Thursday Forums, even participated in some of the table top meeting............We need a new Chamber Director, plain and simple. Who ever wrote this letter is wise. -
Paulding's issues. Why can't we do better?

What happens to Dallas is what they deserve, they didn't even have an election this year because NO one challenged the sitting mayor or council members eligible for re-election. In fact, Mayor Austin said they didn't need any "county" folks messing with them. Obviously the people of Dallas are quite content with the decline of Merchants Drive, Main Street businesses and the area in general. -
Aww come on Pubby, McCollum and Cartersville don't have Part 139 and they have great business growth, bringing in all kinds of jobs. Heck even Propeller has an interest in a Kennesaw company, that's not located on airport property. I believe the supporters of commercial service are the ones putting the cart in front of the horse. Let's see what Brett Smith can do with an airport before we jump off the cliff for passenger airliners. That's the problem with too many folks today, they don't want to climb, they want to jump in at the highest paid position before proving themselves. Sin

Private enterprise, real entrepreneurs don't use taxpayer money to launch their businesses. Let Propeller/Silver Comet Terminal Partners prove they can actually bring business to Paulding with the 60 acre land lease they have with the IBA, let them produce something that proves they have the financial backing to be successful. Until then, they don't need to be discussing Part 139, commercial passenger jets/Airbus A319-A320s. There is nothing stopping them from building, if they just do away with the Part 139. I say go for it, let's see what they are made of. They don't need commercia

I was also just reminded of the Reservoir announcement...........the big meeting at the Government Complex. Was there an agenda posted 24 hours in advance, did anyone see one? Were there minutes taken? You know what's good for the goose is good for the gander. Why wasn't the special called meeting recorded? The ordinance reads "meetings", not scheduled meetings, not meetings the chairman chooses, it says "meetings". Should we start filing ethics complaints for every little thing these commissioners have done over the past 7 years? Really? If that's what it takes, then let's go
-
The two law suits that Austin is "stalling" are the untra vires case that says the IBA over reached it's power by financing the airport. The second one has to do with the 2 day secret retreat in Douglasville where they "discussed" the commercialization of the airport. Now everyone that supports the commercialization of airport thinks not posting a notice on the door 24 hours in advance of the meeting is a ethics violation that should be punished to the full extent of the law. Tar and feather him and run them out of the county!! And let's not forget the theatrics of delivering the compla

Keeping the commercialization of the airport, while you are seeking office, is deceptive at best. He may be a good man and want to do the right thing, but flying all over the US, looking at other airports with members of the sitting commissioners, while not bothering to let your constituents know, does not bode well with the average voter. When you don't tell the whole story, is it the truth?
-
I know you meant the mayor of Hiram.............yes, she is anti commercial passenger carrier at our airport, but indeed supports bringing jobs, business and much needed infrastructure to Paulding County.
-
The OP asked why commercial carrier operations at HJIA have NOT reduced property taxes for the residents. I'm still looking for that answer, why hasn't all that commercial service helped them?
-
But it does show taxes and property values near an airport are negatively affected. The airport has not lowered taxes in those areas by one single penny, their taxes are higher than most everywhere else and property values are lower. If not for the airport, perhaps there's a better explanation? Do you care to weigh in on that? Commercial airliners probably don't lower taxes for nearby property owners or those near HJIA would be some of the lowest millage rates in the state. Nope, they're not.

I would guess what Whitey knows about whether or not Carmichael is actually going to run is about the same as whether or not Todd Pownall is going to run. I would say ask them yourself instead of trying to guess. I do see the information BB shared about Carmichael is a little different than was appeared in the New Era when he announced he was running.
-
Government should build infrastructure, road, bridges, sewer, water. Not failed airports and failed film studios. What was that someone said? The second time it's not a mistake, it's on purpose. Well here's your sign. So passenger airliners are not going to reduce our taxes? What? You're kidding me, right?

The longer it takes, the more the attorney gets paid. Come on, they have to guarantee their income. -

Oh you fully have that right and I have the right to call you out about your flip flopping. Yes certainly this county would be in a different place if Tony Crowe had won, no doubt. We could have save a butt load of $$$$ on law suits. I just find it odd a Democrat would support a Republican, very conservative candidate. But you see I don't have a camera and microphone in front of me when I'm demonizing those that were one time considered friends. -

Whitey, she flip flops all the time...............she even worked on Tony's campaign against Austin. Now she thinks she can just slide back in on the airport side but not alienate the side that doesn't want 150+ passenger planes flying over our heads. I don't think she knows what to do, she can't seem to make up her mind. -
