  1. I sure do miss the days when elected officials actually worked for the betterment of the community instead of a personal agenda. If the public is opposed, why in the heck do they keep pushing it? Everyone has lost their ever loving minds. Every single post in Paulding County has elected new commissioners that do not support commercialization. We have business parks sitting nearly empty, a relatively new EDO Director that can't move on much of anything, and people still thinking someone running for office can be elected if they support commercialization. Good people make bad de
  2. Check again, the film studio is booked up for almost entire 2016..thank you First time, ever. Now will there be a profit? What about the inadequate parking? Oh, snap............you mean no one planned for enough parking? How could that be? Ya, I'll be waiting to see if the IBA makes the bond payment, too.
  3. If you listen to what Steve Justice had to say to the steering committee, you would understand that a commercial airport in the middle of no where is doomed. He also tells us commercial service is not needed for MR&O or aerospace businesses. We have 7 of them here in Paulding and an alliance created by our past Economic Development Director, Jamie Gilbert. Just ask Jamie why he left Paulding County. stradial has the solution, get someone that knows what they are doing. Hire a marketing/strategy company to sell the GA airport. It's not rocket science to realize and there is a HUG
  4. This was the discussion about why the county should not be paying a county administrator $130.000, his assistant, $40,000 and the Chairman almost $100,000 per year. Starting about the 57 minute mark, Carmichael starts talking about how taxpayer money shouldn't be spared, the department heads can't do their jobs without an administrator because "citizens and be a problem" (1 hour mark).
  5. Yea, because running a nationwide non-profit isn't a real business that involves managerial skills, knowledge of finance, and budgets. Is the fact that Carmichael thinks citizens can be a problem reason enough for you to support him?
  6. Roger Leggett has a servant's heart. <snip> http://www.11alive.com/story/news/local/moments/2015/03/05/grandfathers-grief-leads-to-amazing-gift/24420177/
  7. Ah I gotcha. A man who served as a volunteer firefighter for years, was a deputy sheriff, retired from Lockheed, served for six years on the BOC, makes "Chad's Bracket" for hospitals across the country that is now reaching other nations...........with ZERO profit. Considered "undistinguished"? Okay, let's look at Roger Leggett https://www.facebook.com/ChadsBracket/?fref=ts
  8. Pffft, suit yourself. An educated voter is a good voter. Someone that bases their vote on how someone "strikes" them is why we have the mess we're in now. I will agree Mr. Carmichael is educated and articulate, a very nice man. But his votes, his words, and his actions speak for them self.
  9. The entire video is on youtube. Spend a little effort if you want to see "context". Mr. Carmichael thinks we should hand over taxpayer dollars to any one that wants it. See it for yourself.
  10. He may be saying that now, but where was he for the last 2.9 years when he was voting lock step with David Austin? Telling us Citizens can be a problem. It doesn't surprise me at all.
  11. Dave Carmichael only served 2 years and 9 months of a 4 year term. The people in Post 1 may well have expected him to fulfill their wishes. He was seated the first meeting in 2013, resigned in November 2015. Ron Davis is a great guy, Post 1 is very fortunate to have him. He's already set up a blog to show how he voted on each and every decision, he's promised 3-4 town hall meetings a year. The first one is scheduled for late June. The best part of this election, we now have all 4 post commissioners working together. With David Austin not running again, I think our new commission chai
  12. He had his chance and voted lock step with David Austin, not a good record. He's a better citizen than most, he needs to stay there (a citizen).
  13. Oh stop, you're so off base it makes me LOL You haven't a clue. Get off that pedestal for a minute and look at the real people of Paulding County. As a military brat and military mom, there are always superiors. Dave Carmichael is a good man, just not a good politician.
  14. Glassdogs, Whitey is right. Carmichael had until February 10 to step down as post commissioner and not force a special election. As I said up there^^^^ it was political maneuvering to have Todd Pownall or Tony Crowe vacate their seat so they could remove the majority being opposed to the commercialization (passenger planes) at the airport. Dave Carmichael is a good military man and follows direction from his superiors. I'm sure they had no idea Ron Davis was going to run against Carmichael anyway, even if he didn't step down. I think Ron was ready to just step up and the opportunity came
  15. That's true but now we're looking at a runoff, no doubt. That cost is the same as a special election. He could have remained in his seat much longer than he did and still have his replacement on the March 1 ballot. This was a political play to try to flush out Todd Pownall or Tony Crowe, it backfired. Big Time. I don't like people playing politics. As a matter of fact, I deplore politics in general. I still say Dave Carmichael is a good person, I have nothing against him personally. However listening to David Austin put Post1 in a precarious position with no representation on the BO
  16. Add, Bill Carruth to that list. I have a candidate.
  17. So, stradial................thank you for this update. At least someone's telling us what's going on in Paulding. Where have you been for the last 4 years, or were you sworn to secrecy about the airport, too. You know, can't let the peasants know, "Loose Lips Sink Ships".
  18. After your little stints on here with the cameras rolling, you really need to read those notes about civility. You cannot play both sides, then pretend like you're innocent. You attacked a LOT of people on that little show, that thank goodness has gone by the wayside. You laughed, thought it was funny, well it wasn't funny to those you were making fun of. Like middle school kids, laughing at someone they might not like. Where's the civility in that?
  19. Next week is the PCAA meeting, let's see what the PCAA has to say about Mr. Smith. Funny, they can break the contract with Cobb Marietta Water Authority, that has held up their end of the agreement since day one, but not with Propeller that has multiple contract violations? Really? So we're going to let the CCWA file a hundred million dollar law suit against us, but not kick Propeller to the curb? I also noticed some of the commissioners apologized for anyone they may have offended, but not the Chairman that said we didn't "need people like you" in our county, even after the speaker ap
  20. I noticed one of the speakers talked about civility then refused to shake a commissioner's hand. What was that about?
  21. Well, aren't you just a hunk of burning love? LOL The firm Lani Skipper works at, along with Tom Cable represents the BOC, PCAA, IBA, Chamber, School Board, and many other "boards" in Paulding County. They are so tied to our government, both the PCAA and the BOC had to seek outside council to represent them.........that's not a good thing. I'm sure we already pay the firm a retainer to represent these boards. That's absolutely ludicrous, you'd think they were the only law firm in the county.
  22. Do you think "the firm" will quit stalling and costing the taxpayers hundreds of thousands of dollars? The fines are only $1000 each.
  23. And the payment for the film studio the IBA didn't make............
  24. The contracts for the Silver Comet agreement were signed in November 2012..............July to November is only 4 months. This deal was being discussed before the primary and certainly before the General Election. They didn't tell us for almost a year. Know why they came forward? They needed money and the BOC had to approve the bonds. It's always been on the taxpayers backs, we back those bonds.
