I am on att dsl near the airport, and I just ran speed test. I got 5.74 mbit down and .42 mbit up. I do know it varies depending on the time of day and the number of people using it. Sometimes when watching hulu I get major hits and have to start over. I'm not sure if it is on Hulu's end or here though.

What is the exact words on the popup? Lots of times you can google the words and find a cure. There are several programs that you can download and find or fix it. I normally use avg, but avast can be downloaded on a different computer and ran from a thumb drive. AVG also has a recovery program that can be down loaded and ran.

The scrap metal place will take them. I normally take out the hard drive and disassemble for the aluminum and the magnets, then take the steel outside case as scrap steel. Check out 181.fm. They have a 70's channel and the eagle channel which plays good music. Also google Broadcasting World Test Station they play 70's also. If you like 60's then check out 104 topeka. I have these stations bookmarked in winamp and listen to them more then local. None of the local fm stations have many songs. The online stations play stuff you haven't heard in a long time if you normally listen to local stations.

There are several speed ratings. Read speed which is usually somewhere around 30-40x then write speed which can be anywhere from 8x for some dvd's to 20x for other dvd's . Usually slower for double layer which is 9 gbyte instead of 4.7 gbyte for a standard dvd. Unless you are trying to copy a dual layer you will never need the dual layer. The blank disc's cost a lot more the the normal ones. I buy my computer stuff at newegg.com. Yes I do some computer work, mostly for friends. The problem is the Chinese parts. I have taken one apart and it had the same problem most electronic stuff has now, chinese capacitors. From everything I can find Java is only run under the browser (I.E. firefoxe, etc.) Google it and there is a java site that will tell you if it is active on your computer.

This is old news. I turned off Java over a month ago. So far have not had one reason to turn it on. For you firefox users go to tools, add ons and you can disable it. I don't know about internet exploder, as I haven't used it in at least 10 years, as It caused so many problems.

Depending on where you live a outdoor antenna will pick up several local channels. If you are on a hill you won't need much of a antenna. My son lives just north of downtown and with a homemade UHF antenna on the roof he is getting all of the local channels. With digital tv either you have a perfect picture or non at all. The one thing that does happen is you get drop outs if the signal is not enough.
