  1. If you make caramel cupcakes, you post it, cause I will drive all the way down there for some. If I like them then I will be ordering a cake every year for my Birthday.

    I have a recipe that was given to me by a lady in church several years ago. i was just looking at it today. So, I will let you know when I make them. lol

    Blackberry wine? Never had one but it sounds good.

     

    It is awesome. I developed the recipe after trying a slice of blackberry wine cake at a restaurant. You will have to come in and try one. mmmm. mmm.

     

    Be sure to put a sign inside your store to direct the customers to the "facilities"....

  3. We plan to make some sugar free cupcakes. The problem with sugar free is the icing. Most of the really good tasting sugar free icing is not stable enough to sit for more than a couple of hours. And of course, just because it is sugar free doesn't mean it is low carb. (I have sugar issues myself and am trying to not become diabetic so I sympathize).

    Thanks for voting. We have lots of great ideas for flavors and combinations of flavors that we plan to do. And, LPPT, I agree, stale cupcakes are for the birds. Cake should not be dry and stale. Too many bakeries and grocery store bakeries try to keep costs down by keeping them for several days. I was told by a grocery store bakery employee that their cakes have a 40 day shelf life! OMG! That just sounds nasty to me. And some bakeries bake a lot at one time to keep labor costs down. Which doesn't work because like you said, a stale, old cupcake is not going to keep customers coming back.

    Opening this bakery is our chance to do things OUR way. When working for another bakery we did not have that control. I am keeping a lists of ALL of your suggestions. So, keep 'em coming.

    I would like a good Pumpkin....but not pumpkin spice. For some reason just a sweet pumpkin taste is better than pumpkin spice. ( I hope that makes sense).

     

    And a fluffy strawberry cake with real strawberries is always good. There USED to be another bakery in town that sold these and they were awesome.

     

    Yes, I understand what you mean. Sometimes pumpkin spice has a "gourdy" taste that a sweet pumpkin doesn't have. We will probably have strawberry cupcakes a lot. They are a big seller. lol

     

     

     

  4. The name of our bakery is Flour Child Cakery and we will have a hippie type theme. In the style of things, we want to name our baked items after songs, artists and things from the hippie era. Such as:

     

     

     

    strawberry fields -strawberry cupcake

    purple haze-blackberry wine cupcake

    nights in white satin-black & white

    Piece of my Heart Cupcake-red velvet

    yellow submarine -lemon

    flower power-yellow or choc with psychedelic

    Jerry Garcia-Cherry almond

    Black magic woman cupcake-dark chocolate with coffee

    White Rabbit-coconut

    Day Tripper -cupcake of the day

    Happiness is a warm cupcake

    She's So Heavy-Pound Cake

    ob-la-di ob-la da-quiche

    Rocky Raccoon brownies

    Sexy Sadie-pecan sandie

    tangled up in blue-berry muffin

    blonde on blonde-blondie with maple walnut glaze

    If you have any other suggestions we would LOVE to hear them.

  5. Yes, we are in the former gas station/country store that bumblebee was in. We have done a LOT of work inside and out cleaning up and repairing things. It looks like a different place now. Very colorful and cozy and clean. Be on the lookout for even more changes outside coming soon!

    We will definitely have things made with whole wheat flour and my baker (who also happens to be my son) and I have been talking about gluten free items as well as having at least 1 sugar free item a day. Caleb went to Culinary Arts school and is always up for new and exciting recipes. We spent the summer developing new recipes and can't wait to get in the bakery and make them so everyone else can try them.

  6. Hi! We just joined P.com and wanted to announce that we are

    OPENING A NEW BAKERY!

    It is located at 6129 Ridge Road in Hiram.

    We plan to be open Oct 27th and are so excited!

    Our name is FLOUR CHILD CAKERY & BAKE SHOP and we are a hippie theme bakery

    with cool colors, music posters and of course peace signs. lol.

    We are a full service bakery, with cupcakes, cookies, pies, quiche, sandwiches, etc. in the case

    and offer special order cakes made to your specifications.

    And yes, we will have a "special brownie" section.

    ;)

    We can't wait to open, come by and check us out!
