  1. I thought it was a good topic and hated that it went south so quickly b/c of someone trying to make themselves feel better by degrading others(most being complete strangers). There are a handful of people like that fairly regularly here. Sort of like in real, everyday life, I guess . Anyway, I liked your thread and wanted to read the different opinions.
  2. Im sorry and I know it is especially hard this time of year. I have some experience with addiction in my family, too, from a few different angles. Actually, lately I have really been emersing myself in getting a better understanding of it. I guess the thing that comes through the loudest out of all I've learned so far is to have unconditional acceptance but not enable the addiction. What I get from that is just basic unconditional love-"no matter how far you sink, how far you go or not understanding all the unanswered questions, I will always love you and you will always be my _____
  3. I dont have any clue but that is really crazy...and fun. Poor Nathan Lane probably feels like he's hearing twin banjos way down here in Ga. He's great . It'll be interesting to see!
  4. Nah, I dont think its "bad taste" at all. Just something we've all had fun with for a few years. Honestly, the neon Baby Jesus has probably been talked about and fussed over(in a good way) a whole lot more than if it were part of a "matching set". He likes to stand out, ya know?
  5. Thank you...I was worried about Him. I think a few neon baby Jesus pics are in order. I cant have Christmas without seeing Him .
  6. I'm a huge fan of wrapping paper, ribbons, bows...love that stuff. However, Santa clearly doesn't wrap gifts. Nor does he smell like beef and cheese. that's the way we were raised but I could be okay with either.
  7. last line... "and a vet and a nail place, too."
  8. looks yummy! But, the camera moving around like that almost made me , which ironically favors what is in the new ble....nevermind. I have been looking at those and wondered how they really were. So, thanks for sharing!
  9. Yum, that sounds good! Reminded me of how much I miss Peace, Love and Pizza back there in Kennesaw. They make a veggie pizza with a ton of good things and the best tofu. I baked chicken breasts with fresh rosemary and a couple juicy lemons. Also, baked home fries. good idea!
  10. Butterscotch Haystacks, homemade fudge, my oreo whipped cheesecake and Chocolate Buckeyes. Haystacks are super simple and CHEAP!
  11. Congrats Blondie for kickin' booty with your job! I know it takes a lot of push and ambition. Papi did a great job! ...yeah, Papi, that geeky part looks like pig latin on crack to me but Im glad you and others like you are in the world. If it were up to me, we might be approaching the pigeon carrier form of communication . But, then again, you might not be all gung ho giving little old ladies perms and pedicures, either.
  12. Mr Dis...your topic line is so you. Although, I was a little surprised when I opened the thead to see something almost worth singing about... . I do hate those loud commercials. I am always the one turning down every tv in the house constantly.
  13. I HAVE to find a pic I have of me in front of an almost identical backdrop. I thought it was so ridiculous! It was at the Tennesse Aquarium last year. I have to go dig around and find it. Maybe my card will have my own version on it. Photoshop them side by side! Something!
  14. We are all pulling for you, JJ. I hate that you are having to go through this.
  15. I was behind one a couple years driving home on Dallas Hwy. Almost seemed like slow motion...I watched as a piece of metal or rock or whatever it was, comes sailing through the air toward me. It hit the pavement first b/c I make it a habit to never follow anybody too closley but especially a work truck. So it bounced once and then right into my windshield. My son and I watched the glass spread from the drivers side all the way to the passengers side and in a few directions like a spider web in nano seconds. Im glad we were okay, of course, but the company did nothing for us. I had gotten the
  16. They ARE awesome. So good to get this advice. Thank you! I'm making a list. BTW, we have replaced 2 windows so far and have a plan to do 2-4 every quarter. We had so many things we HAD to do here and still do. The former owner SHOULD be on an episode of "Hoarders". Thats no exaggeration. I would curl up and die after a month of cold in Minnesota!
  17. I'm way down south here these days in the historic and very lovely Valdosta, Ga.(okay, little stretch but still...). I bought this house a few months ago and absolutely love it and have been busy fixing it up and making it home. Since it's typically 10 degrees warmer here than there in the Atl, it really hasnt been cold until...well, really, until today. As I've walked through the house, I can feel cold areas that need to be weatherproofed. I would love any ideas you may have on fairly inexpensive ways to do this . We are about to do new weatherstripping everywhere but other than that,
  18. I gotcha'. Liquor on Sunday tends to do that. I'm just glad we can FINALLY get our meth at Walmart. 'Bout time.
  19. It is a very rare occasion that I ever give up on a book, no matter how long, bad or boring. But, I couldnt do War and Peace. Thank goodness, in high school we were given a few choices and that was NOT mine. I had already read enough to know not to pick that one. Secret History is a favorite that I have re-read 3 times though.
  20. whatever the case, I wont be buyin' those things. The artificial chemicals are disgusting then you're heating and steaming it up all inside of a non-biodegradable cup with even more chemicals cooking right in. That cannot be good.
  21. "things that come from the BIG rectangle and also from the smaller rectangle in the kitchen are very hot. Dont touch hot things. Hot things will burn you." What happened to that approach?
  22. It never crossed my mind to start a mean or nasty topic. My customer stories are 99% of the time, "this lady...."...I dont remember their names! It's not gossip I was referring to at all. Love your story ,and yes, these are exactly what I had in mind. Thank you for sharing! That line...de ja vu. Where was I when I read tha...
  23. "you need eye brow wax? Be 'bout 5, 10 minute.... Pick colah...square, round.....go wash." That's the norm for conversations in nail shops these days. At least you get to relax.
