  1. , Custody battles are brutal. I couldn't afford even a crappy lawyer when I started mine. Then, even after I was able to get a lawyer, it wasn't even about the court system catering to my whims. There are things that the courts simply do not consider, such as: alienating parents and emotional abuse. Both cause just as much harm to all involved as the physical abuse. The system is ill equipped to distinguish, as of today, which is the legitimate mental abuse and which is the spiteful party "crying victim", nor there are explicit laws in place to protect the real victims. Anyway, w
  2. That is an awareness that should be promoted more, that's for sure. But all you say repeatedly is "should've used a condom". Unfortunately, using a condom can not solve all the problems in the world, be nice if it did though. The way I see it, things happen, people make mistakes, and those become lessons learned. By lessons, I don't mean just using a condom or getting to know someone, seeing them for who they really are, only yje kind of things learned, but your own strengths and weaknesses, your abilities and growth as a human being. Of course when you can only concentrate on "I should h
  3. Ha, they settled in PA where it's a little more like "home". I did make it to Fl and, even though this past week it has gotten cool enough to finally wear my sweaters, I have been smirking reading everyone's "omg this is the coldest ever!!!" down here and up in Ga. I would never, never laugh though. But smirk, yes. Hehe.
  4. The north-eastern corner a stone's throw distance from Alaska, lived in Kiev for a while as well. I agree with Pubby, btw. I doubt they would put up the road blocks for an 80 yr old woman that hasn't renewed her DL.
  5. LOL despite not knowing the full story, glad the wife said "no". You never know what you'll get with those crazy Russian brides!
  6. It differs from state to state. Where I live, it is illegal to tell the other parent "you don't deserve to see the children" even if it is true because you are denying the parent their rights. It doesn't even matter if they are not paying child support. Unless you can prove that the parent is a physical threat to the minors, you have to deal with psychological abuse and you are not allowed to have a say so in the matter. As for law enforcement resources being wasted in civil matters, I didn't know police was there ONLY for the purpose of doing something AFTER the crime was committed. Ther
  7. Haha thanks. And I can ask my hot single gals in Russia if they wanna be a mail-order bride or know where to find one!
  8. Well as far as it being legal... may be, may be not. And honestly, I don't know where to order one of them, I came here the other traditional way: my parents dragged me to US from Russia before I got a chance to find out how to be a mail-order bride!
  9. Does that include Russian mail-order brides? Because if so, I fit the other two categories too Sorry to see your mom go through all of that just to renew her license. I kinda agree with the idea of DMV using their own records of the last 50 years or so, but that's just me. Shrug.
  10. How does this surprise you? We're talking about gov't here and common sense! Those two should never be together in the same sentence.
  11. Precisely what I try to explain to people when they tell me I should have known, should have seen the signs, could have done something about my situation, or I'm just plain stupid and deserved what I got. The problem with any kind of two-legged predators is that they are very skilled at not only disguising their true colors but also at manipulating their victims by tearing apart any and all of their defences. They create the new reality for over a period of time as they gain your trust, a reality that suits them and allows them to have a complete control. "People will think you're crazy", "
  12. I am, unfortunately, in one of those states that have the laws forbidding phone call recordings without both parties consent. However, police officers have told me that if somebody is threatening you or says things that may be considered as any kind of endangerment (mental, physical, harassment, stalking, going directly against the court orders of denying visitations due to none-payment of child support, etc etc) towards yourself or minors, you may request a police officer to make a report about the phone call, play the recording to that officer, and he/she can testify that they have heard s
  13. I want to trade my tanktop and shorts for a miserable rain outside my window and the smell of a fireplace as I decorate my house for what doesn't even feel like Christmas in 80+ degree weather. Oh and did I mention I'm trading in the outside decor that consists of green, brown, and more green, and I'm not talking about pine trees? And it's eggplant parmesan with garlic knots tonight.
  14. There is no way I would rub a cat's teeth with my finger even if it had 3 inches of gauze covering it and I was wearing one of those big bulky suits that dog trainers wear.
  15. Wow, you really are missing the point. Don't you see the pattern of things here? Airport is just the latest change that people are against, just as they were with the Studio, and Courthouse, and sewer, and would be also arguing if someone wanted "to put in a mall and bring in some major retailers" as radiohead sarcastically suggested. Take a look at the big picture: all of those things were done in attempts to better the economy and all of those things brought on the public outcry. While not all of the ventures of your local government have paid off so far, be thankful you have people who
