  1. I tried to attach a pic of what I found the last time I ran in for milk. Even parking out by the gas pumps doesn't help. If the pic loads, you'll see that the buggy is wedged up under the mirror. And yes, it left a scratch. Grr. I've been shopping at Publix and Food Lion since. Edited to add: Pic didn't load. Oh well. You get the idea.
  2. Yes, you can still vote! You can register your email at the top left (I think) corner of the page. Create a password, then go to your email to activate and vote. My husband does not do facebook but still registered his email and votes daily that way. SPREAD THE WORD!!
  3. Bump...GO VOTE!! Copy of today's "newstip" sent to 11 Alive: I am a viewer who actually believes your "good news" approach to broadcasting. That said, this is MY second "tip" and I know others have sent in requests for your news dept. to follow up on a story that could net $100,000 for Paulding County Schools. There is a house in Dallas, Ga. who entered a nationwide holiday display contest to win $100,000 for Paulding County schools. The homeowner is a teacher in our school system. We desperately need public knowledge about this event to win. Right now, Joey Felix is in second pla
  4. I actually sent in "newstips" via the websites of CBS Atlanta, 11 Alive, and Fox 5. Maybe they'd give it another look if multiple people alert them.
  5. I'm still waiting to see it. When/if I do, I'm both a smartazz and a concerned mamma, so I will be happy to go let them know the whole town's talking about them. If they do need help, I will let y'all know and we can start the gathering. Until then, thanks for the entertainment!
  6. Dang girl, and I thought I started trouble around here....
  7. OHN4031 Thanks for the contest, Pubby. I thought it was a great idea to initiate communication/friendships. It is kinda of sad to see that this stayed within the clique, since the whole point was to make new friends. Thank you again for posting the list, Pubby, and giving the rest of us a chance to actually win.
  8. Awesome and clever response, Mr. Dis. Our Christmas Eve tradition is to clean the kids rooms. We remove all broken or out-grown toys to leave for Santa to take back with him. My kids think he collects the old stuff and repairs it to give to kids the next year.
  9. K-mart is year round for all products, electronics to clothing.
  10. That's also why I bought only one, I know he tends to stay put once he gets settled. And yes, I tell him all the time that I count him as one of ours. My children know him as "Uncle Greg". It's always bothered me that he was alone. I guess that's why I kept in close contact all those years. Now, I can't imagine any holiday without the trip to go get Uncle Greg. He's at the point where we don't even have to ask, he knows we're coming for him and he knows he can't argue with me about it.
  11. He did need warm clothes and shoes, but my husband was able to help him out with his sizes. This man is a dear friend. He gave me my first "real" job right out of college. He suffered badly with the economy and it hit him at the worst time: just when he was disabled and everything he'd saved was in stocks. He lived off his annunities and dividend, which all stopped in 2009. He never married, has no children, was an only child, and has no family that I have seen in 17 years of knowing him. I did help him get in with some churches in his area (rough part of Dekalb), and they help him with
  12. That IS the heater I bought him! I wanted him to heat the whole room and be able to move it from room to room. I did a lot of research on them first, so I am super excited to know I bought the right one!
  13. Yes, Mrs. G., GOD IS AWESOME!! I used the extra $$ to buy a portable heater for an elderly person I know. I've helped him with his power bill in the past and his is more then mine for half the house. (And, I'm 5 people, he's just 1) I knew he was running those dinosaur electric heaters, two of them, and they don't even heat up a room! I've also been worried that they'd cause a fire. I was going to replace both heaters when I was in a better place finanically. So now, it will be even better when I go pick him up for Christmas dinner and I have a gift for him, one he desperately needs!
  14. I heard on the news that there have been multiple "Angels" striking the lawaway departments at various stores around the country. I can confirm they've struck Hiram! Thank you to whomever paid for my younger son's "big" gift, it was such a blessing and an incredible surprise. I was able to pay it foward almost immediately. Details for the nosey: The lady told me someone came in and paid over $5000 of layaways and there have been mulitple businesses and individuals who have secretly been doing the same. Whomever you are, thank you!
  15. I do know the child. She was more child then teenager. She was trusting and happy. I don't think it would have ever occured to her that evil was so close. Thank you all for your prayers for this whole family. This child will need it for years to come.
  16. Yes, this is her. The original story I was told (by my hubby) was the child was victimized by mulitple people. I did not ask for details when I spoke to her mother yesterday. The mom said the girl was not interested in talking about what happened, nor does she want to be touched (not even a hug). She was beaten and was having a very hard time just getting through the day yesterday. At the point I talked to her, they weren't sure if they could get her to talk to the police. I've been praying constantly for her, I am so glad she did tell the police.
  17. No, no one "passed away" but the girl suffered a massive loss of innocence, so I consider it a loss.
  18. My husband has just talked to his coworker. The child has been released and is at home, but her mental scars are already deep. It's a helpless feeling, and really the only thing they need is prayers. Thank you all for the support. I know how powerful prayer in numbers is and I appreciate all of you taking the time to lift up this family. PS: Fire911, I simply adore you, too!
  19. I know I'm not a favorite around here, but I really need some prayer warriors to step up and battle. My husband has a coworker, a single mom of three who also has two small grandchildren in the home. I've been in prayer for this family since my husband first told about the fact that she's always scheduled for the late shift and she doesn't have a car. This is Cobb County, so she catches the bus to work and if she doesn't have a ride home, she walks. Alone. In the dark, with the drunk and impaired drivers, on the side of a major, 6 lane highway. Within hubby's first week at this job, h
  20. My question is: we have to rely on other pcommers to send the code to us before we're eligible for the prize? I have a feeling I'm SOL on this one...
  21. It started at 1pm. Parking was non-existant by noon.
  22. It's been a while since I've been here and I came to read about the recent criminal activity but this thread just SCREAMED at me! Here's my vent: Last Friday I stopped into the K grocery store in Dallas to buy a package of cheese. That was it, just one item, at 6pm on Friday night. I didn't even try for a close parking spot, I just went to a side row and found a space. When I came out, I found not one, but TWO buggies not only slammed against the driver's side of my door, but literally WEDGED under the mirror. Somebody went to a lot of trouble to mess up my ride. I do have the pictur
