  1. Are they still doing this? The last time I heard of one of these golf tournaments was in 1999 when one of the radio stations held a charity tournament and invited strippers to be caddies and "other" things. They did this every year for quite a stretch of years if I remember correctly. Not that this one had anything to do with the ones in the past, just that this concept is nothing new. It went away before when enough people got in an uproar about it and will probably go the same way again.
  2. We received a flyer once in the nine years that I've lived in this particular house. Last year, we left the canned goods in a plastic grocery bag on the ground next to the mailbox and they weren't picked up. This year, we put the bag in the mailbox and she took it. Looks like we've figured out the process through trial and error
  3. My daughter and I are driving to Augusta to have lunch with my mother (her grandmother). My husband is staying home and doing the laundry for me!
  4. [And to the stupid girl who decided to text in your volvo driving all the way down dallas hwy= You were really making me mad. Not only could you kill someone, but If you are going to look at your phone in the fast lane not moving at least move over.) Those people drive me nuts too. When I find myself behind them (or sometimes even in front of them) in traffic and it's obvious that they are texting or reading a book or whatever, I blow the horn at them. Sometimes I do it two or three times, or sometimes I just lay on the horn as I change lanes and try to get as far away from them as I can.
  5. murphydog - I am going to mail a donation to the bank for Mr. Davis. I spend almost all of my waking hours in Atlanta at work and getting to the bank in Douglasville before it closes is hard for me. With that said, there are a few Wells Fargo branches in D'ville. Can I mail it any of them as long as I note "Perry Davis Donation Fund" in the memo section on the check? Or is there a specific branch that I need to mail it to?
  6. I don't talk to Suri but I talk to my car. It no longer seems to recognize my voice though and it’s very frustrating. If I ask it to change the radio to channel 7 or channel 42 or any channel it will comply. But if I ask it to call home or call my husband or just call anyone in general it no longer understands me. It asks me if I want to call 50 or 0# or some other wacky number combination. It understands numbers but not words anymore. If I get frustrated with it after trying several times and tell it to shut up, it asks me if I want to call for towing. Anybody else have this problem?
  7. We have the cars and house insured with Farm Bureau. For us, they are the best coverage at the cheapest price and we get fast service whenever we need to file a claim. I had two claims at the same time a few years ago because of hail damage to the house and the car. They were super quick in getting things rolling so we could repair the damage.
  8. I liked Van Halen more when Sammy Hagar was with them. I don't care for David Lee Roth. Back in the 80's Diamond Dave was the most annoying man on the planet to me.
  9. Oh that's funny, it's Warhol, not Worhal. Andy WARHOL is one of the most prolific artists of our time and as both a self described art lover and modest collector, I would think that you would know that. BTW – I personally consider Warhol’s body of work as junk. However I am fully aware that millions disagree with my assessment and I’m fine with that. It doesn’t bother me at all. That is the beauty of art in all of its forms. We are free to decide what we, as individuals, like or dislike.
  10. You're right. They pull right out there and don't seem to have a clue. It's a very dangerous intersection and what makes it worse is that South Paulding High is back there. There are a lot of teenagers traveling through that intersection as they drive to and from school. It wasn't too long ago that there was an accident with a daycare van trying to turn there and get to Dugan Elementary. And it was just a couple of months ago when a school bus was party of a multi-car accident there. If we can't get a traffic light, I wish we could at least have one of those flashing signs that shows you what
  11. I don't know who the motorcyclist is, I can't help you there. I do know that they need to put a light there. I live off Senator right up the hill from that spot and can't even begin to recall how many accidents there have been at that intersection. There have been a ton of them though. People use Senator as a cut through to both Dugan Elementary and South Paulding High and there is always a lot of traffic on that road. No one follows the speed limit on Bakers Bridge, if anything they are well above the posted speed limit. Oncoming traffic appears off a curve on Bakers Bridge usually at hi
  12. That's really pretty. It reminds me of the fairy houses that people build in the woods on Monhegan Island.
  13. The amoxicillin is free at Publix. The tylenol w/ codeine is not on the Sam/Walmart list but I've had it filled before in it's generic version and it was pretty cheap. I can't remember exactly how much but I think it was less than $15. I would try the Advil first too.
  14. I had to look it up but I did find the Publix free list. There are 7 different kinds of antibiotics, metformin for diabetes and lisinopril for high blood pressure/diabetes. I have the Walmart / Sam's Club $4 list on the counter in the kitchen. If you want to tell me what the pain med is, I can look it up and see if it's on there.
  15. Depending on what kind of antibiotic it is, it could be free at Publix. Publix fills antibiotics &some diabetes prescriptions (and something else that I can't remember)at no charge.
  16. Thanks FreeBird. I want to know why it has been taped up for over a year and inoperable. Looks like it's not slated to be fixed and since it's the only one near my house or anywhere near the front of the subdivision, I'm wondering what would happen if a house caught on fire.
  17. Who should I contact with questions about an existing fire hydrant? Do I contact the fire department closest to my house or someone with the county?
  18. I had dinner at Folks last night. Veggies taste like they were dumped out of a can and into a pot to heat. No seasoning at all and they didn't even drain the corn.
  19. For several years in a row the Senior prank was to put the big boy statue from Shoney's on the roof of the school. The year I graduated they couldn't manage to "borrow" big boy because the Shoney's employees wised up and had him welded to something making him harder to move. Instead they put a car on the roof. I think it was a VW bug.
  20. I think the researchers skewed the data to prove their opinion. Most of my friends from my generation were spanked when we got out of line. We seem to have turned out pretty well.
  21. I live in South Paulding also. I heard something like that a month or so ago that had me puzzled. I don't live near the quarry so I really don't think that was it. My lights never go out and never flicker when I hear it though. There is a power substation(or whatever you call it) a few miles up the road and down the road somebody has a cannon sitting in the yard. I figure it's one of those two things.
