  1. Congratulations to your son (& you too). Having a trusted mechanic in the family that you can rely on is a beautiful thing!
  2. Thanks very much kittykat. We're going to give them a try today and see if their burgers are as good as Merle's.
  3. Does anyone know what their hours are? I tried to call and the phone just rings and rings and no one answers.
  4. We use Paulding Waste and have for several years. Never had a problem with them.
  5. Icing. I grew up hearing the old saying about something great being "the icing on the cake". Sometimes I say frosting but not often.
  6. I wear my grandmother's engagement ring on my right hand and my own engagement and wedding rings on my left hand. I don't think hers looks out of place and even if someone told me that it did, I wouldn't care. I'm fine with it and it makes me happy, that's what matters. Do what makes you happy.
  7. That's a shame, he was truly a gifted chef. The food was incredible. I do hope that he is ok.
  8. Does anyone know if the chef/owner of the closed Stefan's on the Square is working somewhere else now or if he's opened a new restaurant in a different location? We loved his menu & the food was so good. His beef Wellington was incredible. I'm hoping that he's still somewhere in the Atlanta area and that somebody on here can point me in the right direction. We've been trying to find him for several years now.
  9. How local does it need to be? In Paulding or in metro Atlanta?
  10. I know it's a long way but when I'm in the area and I have extra time, I like to go to the Salvation Army store in Duluth. They have some awesome things in there. Most be all of those athlete's wives in the Sugarloaf / Country Club of the South areas dropping stuff off. On one trip they had a pair of Manolo Blahnik pumps. Unfortunately they were not my size, way too small but I tried anyway!
  11. Channel 5 said that this was the second time she's done this. She ran over another boyfriend prior to this one.
  12. The CFA at Highway 61 & 278 is having a breakfast with Santa event on 12/15.
  13. I Want A Hippopotamus For Christmas
  14. Silver Bells (sung be either Dean Martin, Andy Williams or Anne Murray)
  15. Congratulations to your son on his very first peer reviewed publication!

    Fox Alert

Where is Barrington Farms? What part of the county?
  17. Start blowing your horn at her every time she crosses into the other lane. If you do it every morning, every time she does it, she'll get the message and hopefully will have enough common sense to cut it out. If it doesn't work, you're dealing with a total fool and I'd just jot her tag number down and call it in.
  18. This reminds me of the time that someone on P.Com saw a panther on Highway 61 near the Carroll county line. They were adamant that's what it was. No ifs, ands or buts. They said they got a good long look at it, saw it with their own eyes, know for sure what a panther looks like, etc. I should have known something was amiss when they mentioned that Animal Control officers were chasing it through a field and not DNR officials. I called Animal Control and when they finally stopped laughing, they told me that they knew exactly what I was talking about it and that it was a German shepherd.
  19. That's a lot of wood & will cost a lot of $$$!!!
  20. I've attached a photo of one of my elephant paintings(I hope it's attached LOL!). Could be just me seeing what I want to see in it but does anybody else see an elephant trunk and a big elephant ear? Or is it just me?
  21. She's good! Better than I can do, I don't have any talent for painting or drawing. Art is many things to many people. What I like, someone else may think is awful. One of my favorite paintings was painted by a gorilla. It has long, bold strokes of color and is signed with his thumbprint. I have a few elephant paintings also and in one, I swear I can see almost a self portrait of the animal that created it. There's a big elephant ear and a trunk.
  22. Hate it. I saw that in the AJC last night and my first thought was "oh no!" All of the really cool, eclectic places are closing up shop. Soon all we'll have left is the Imperial Fez and the Clermont Lounge. I love Dante's. There are a lot of good memories there for me. On our first date, my husband and I had drinks there because he didn't believe that a restaurant would have live crocodiles on display inside the building. I've had so much fun there over the years, I'll hate to see it go. Why can't they build those apartments somewhere else?
  23. I prefer the Tab Benoit version of this song but I agree with you.
  24. Dependent children can receive checks if their parent dies, retires or is declared disabled until they are 18 years old. If they are still in school at 18, it can continue until they turn 19 and a half years old. If the parent is getting a check they can get one too. Not sure that I agree with some of it but it is what it is.
