  1. I've had friend requests from complete strangers before. I just decline. Some people will friend anyone and everyone just so their friend count will rise higher and higher. Seems like it's a game with some people to see how many FB friends they can get. One of my real friends has over 600+ "friends" on FB. But in reality, she doesn't even know that many people. And as for the question who constantly updates? The younger generation mainly. And those among us who think that they are important and that we're all just waiting on pins and needles for their updates. By far the thing on FB
  2. My stepfather passed away last month & my mother had a memorial service at their church for him. She had two pastors officiate. The pastor who gave the eulogy was paid $200. The other pastor who played a smaller part of the service was given $125. The organist received $150. Mainly because the church has a large pipe organ. Normally we would given her $100. The soloist was given $100. Hope that helps.
  3. You really do seem to be isolating yourself and too dependent on one person to provide all of your needs. I don't know your husband or what your life has been like but that is too much pressure on both of you. You need to have interests and friends that are separate from him. It may be hard to trust people when those closest to you don't live up to their promises or expectations but you have to step out of the norm and be uncomfortable temporarily to achieve the change that you want. Make some new friends. Change your focus in life. Volunteer somewhere just to be around other people. This is m
  4. BL do you have any close friends that could help you through this? I'm getting the impression that you are isolated from others and don't have much of a support system in place. Is that the case? If it is, you need to change that. While other people can't fix your problems for you or change your husband's behavior, they can offer you emotional support and at times can help you think through issues. They can also provide a critical view point from the outside looking in that you may be too close to the situation to see. I don't think it really matters where you go in this world, you can find pe
  5. I can weed through a percentage of applicants by letting them know up front that we require a drug screening as well as a background check on prospective employees. It is unfortunate but true that many of them drop out at that point before ever filling out an application. It saves us time down the road from seriously considering people that can't pass the drug screening.
  6. Love the Britcoms, especially Are You Being Served. I've been watching them on PBS for 20 years or more. And I just adore Violet on Keeping Up Appearances. She is such a snob!
  7. At 29, I was married, living in a house that we bought together, raising a child and working full time.
  8. This sounds like a strange scenario but I've heard this story before. Maybe it was P.com, I can't remember where I saw it, but people have complained about this same thing happening to them before.
  9. On everything "official" at work, like outgoing letters, I put two spaces. If I'm typing an email I'll just skip one space.
  10. My divorce and child custody were done at the same time. My ex-husband didn't show up for court and didn't send an attorney so technically, I got everything I asked for. Not that he bothered to follow the court decree but that's a different story. That was in 1997 and while it was in Metro Atlanta, it was a different county. Things may have changed over the years or over county lines but back then, both parties were notified of the court date and if one didn't show, the judge would proceed anyway. We also didn't have to go to parenting classes. I'd never heard of them as a requirement bef
  11. It doesn't matter what you do anymore, someone is always going to be offended by something. You just can't win anymore.
  12. I filed online this weekend. The state deposited my refund this morning. According to the pending ACH on my bank account's webpagae, Federal is to be deposited on Monday. I think there may be a problem with yours.
  13. The post office may not be the problem. Your payment could be sitting on someone's desk waiting to be posted to your account.
  14. If you work in Atlanta, did you hear (or feel the vibrations from) the flyover around 11 this morning? I was outside and was looking up in the sky for it but I was too slow and it was too fast. I never saw it, I only heard it. Anyway, the flyover was to honor a marine at his funeral today. The AJC wrote an article about it and there lots of comments regarding it. Some people thought it was a waste of money, some people said it frightened them. The majority had no issue with it though. If you heard it as it was happening, did it frighten you? Did you think we were being attacked as some people
  15. Hi neighbor, I'm from Augusta too. If you were there for 50 years and in the Education field, I'll bet you've run across some of my family from time to time.
  16. All of my friends looked like that in the 80s. LOL! Izod Lacoste polo shirts, chino pants and Sperry topsiders. Jordache jeans and Candie's platform shoes were about as edgy as we got. I liked that look then and still do. I can't help it, I was a preppy I even had the Preppy Handbook on my bookshelf in my room during high school.
  17. I hate that look. I don't care if it's on stage, walking down the street, at school or in the grocery store. I can't think of anywhere that his look would be appropriate.
  18. I'm tired of it too. It's snowing at my house right now.
  19. There already has been a version of a black bachlorette show, just not one from "the" Bachlor/Bachlorette franchise. It was on VH1 a few years ago and featured that guy that wears the clock around his neck. I forget his name. It was a funny show though. He gave all of the women nicknames like Pumpkin and New York and so forth. I think there was one he called Puddin also but I could be confusing that with something else.
  20. Maybe. You have to dress up like a princess or a pirate this Saturday to get in free. Try it. Maybe they'll let you in.
  21. Sorry, I don't know of any discounts for adults, just kids.
  22. It has the face and neck of a llama. Since it's sitting down, it really is hard to tell how tall it would be. Maybe a baby llama?
