  1. ouch doc that hurt. :D  i for one would really like to see kyle petty  win one .  as for gordon being slamed in the wall  well  if the bunch of losers could catch him  then let the rubbin  commence. i remeber  when it was just good ole fashion fun.

i grew up going to dirt tracks around the south eastern ky mountains.

    bluefroggy

That would have happened if he hadn't taken it behind the wall.

  2. Attending a party at my house is just the cure. for who I am not sure maybe me who knows.

As far as where to go. You seem like you have a lot that you want to do. Go for it. I hope everything works out for you. Trust me I know what you are going through. This July will be 2 years that I am trying to get divorced.

  3. Was a good race. I am glad to see rousch and hendrick finally get a reality check. DEI and RCR are starting to come together. DEI has had a top 10 finish I believe in the last 4 races. Harvick is looking good as well. I really enjoyed seeing Kasey finally win. Him and Tony were going at each other all night. Was a great race. Loved seeing Johnson smack the wall. YEAH!!!! Kyle Busch has really come into his own. As much as I hate to say it but Hendrick has 3 very good drivers in Johnson, Gordon, and young Busch. NASCAR ain't much else that beats it besides football.

  4. Like I said I am pretty secure in my job placement. I am tops in the district for my position. I don't have health insurance through my company. Its not cause I can't get it. I may switch over. Bottom line is I don't cost my company any more money then others. I haven't been sick in over a year aside from the stress/tension headaches I got a my previous job that went away when I started target. Only illness I have aquired since I started Target is the occasional hangover. :)

I smoke I do my best not to do it around guests. I am polite. Try getting to know the person because if you prejudge them on the basis that they smoke that makes you prejudice and if you are prejudice against smokers what else might you be prejudice against? I have a tattoo also. Wanna complain about that?

  5. Most companies are quick to settle out of court to keep their companies name out of the news in fear of bad publicity. But at Target I don't have to worry about that. I have been treated great here and my job is all but secured for me.

  6. You better check Georgia law.  They do not have to "justify" firing you.  You might get unemployment, but not a settlement and not your job back.  It's just the way the law works.

GO ahead fire me cause I smoke. I will go to court and I will get a nice fat settlement out of it.

  7. I couldn't.  Just the same I couldn't fire you if you drank and did your job.  You were hired.  Unless it stipulates in the employment app that you couldn't do it and specify off the job also.

My point with the post is if you ban one LEGAL thing in your workplace you need to do it all not just pick one that doesn't impact your physical ability to do your job.  Believe me, smokers probably make it to work more often then a person on a drinking binge or drank one too many and has a hangover.

Caffeine will be next.  Oh won't that make it hard on people to wake up to do their job.  But its not good for you or a need.  Its called infringing on your privacy and thinking because you have a job with a company that they can control you and what you can do off the job.  I sure the heck don't get paid enough to be controlled off my job.  Maybe the president has that type of job but many here don't.  I stay away from those type of control freak jobs that try to control your every aspect of your life.  I like to do my 8 hours and go home and remember I have a life of my own that is free to do as long as it is legal and not hurting no one else.

On this thread you have ones that tell you that you can't smoke on your own time in your own home...but then say that its okay to drink in your home on your own time until you get in trouble....double standard to me because they probably drink and don't want to be told to stop.  Or told what they can do on their own time which is precisely what they are doing to smokers.

Just wait ferg when something they like to do gets banned.  It will come to that after they drain the smoking issue to death.  When no more money can be made on the smoking issue then drinking, guns, caffeine will be next.  I can see TV too...government telling you how long you can keep your tv on and flick it off after so many hours.

    jmd-

very well put. Don't think I could have said it any better myself. I do have 1 question though. How do/can you ban something that is very much legal?

Gotta love the left wing way of thinking!

  8. You better have a damn good reason to fire me cause if not. Your business will continue to pay me via a law suit. Its discrimination no matter which way you look at it. Fire me cause I smoke I won't mind collecting several hundreds of thousands of dollars from you.

  9. Sorry but that law doesn't affect me one bit.  But maybe the next one might affect you.  Smoking is a bad habit.  So is alcohol.  So is eating what isn't good for you.  I for one will influence the alcohol..to ban it...to stop companies from hiring people who drink anything on their own time.  To promote higher fees for people who drink that make the health care industry pay more for your illnesses due to it.  To keep sobor people in work places that don't call in after a hangover or not work to their potential because they are sick from the binge of the night before.  Yes, it will be in the works next.

Oh and the guns too.  I will promote those evil things off the streets and out of every citizen.  They kill.  Just like cigarettes you don't know which innocent person will be next.

My point is it won't stop telling you what you can and can't do in this so called free country.  Is it really a free country?  Do you really think it is?  And I will restate that this law doesn't affect me but I sure the heck don't want the next one to either.  Too much government telling me what I can and can't do that is specifically stated as a legal thing is wrong.  Its not freedom of choice anymore and all out for whatever money they can make on whatever law they pass.  That is all it is.  Money making ventures by taking what a large majority does and seeing if they can make them all pay.

If alcohol was banned would you stop or would you be willing to pay their price?  If guns were banned, would you stop hunting or pay the price?  If you were to stop eating eggs or big macs would you stop or would you pay their price?

They make things and say its legal, then they curse you and make you pay for it.  Remember the movie New York?  Kinda reminds me of it.  The next bill may affect you and then you might see what I am talking about.  Or will you cave in again and again till you do just what the government wants you to do?  Or should I say tells you to do or demands of you.  Um...something smells alittle communist to me.

    oh btw,,,,,I hate smoke.

So how do you justify that if I was hired and you knew up front the fact that I smoked. As long as I didn't abuse the "breaks" how in the world could you justify firing me because I smoked. I am one of the best at what I do. I come to work every day with the utmost proffesionalism. I do my job and my boss is a former smoker so she knows what it is like. So what are the pretext on firing me?

  10. Ferg, I just thought it might have something new, but it's same old whining!  The law has been passed.  Get over it!

As I said previously, as soon as people start dying from a LACK of second hand smoke, they will revoke this law.  Until then, your entertainment is not a right to contaminate others.

I I don't smoke around others if I do I try to get away from them so please tell me how my "entertainment" is contaminating them?

So you "FORCING" your beliefs on me about something that is more then LEGAL is right? like has already been said Religion has killed many more people then 2nd hand smoke. You and your liberal friends go find something else to argue about. Besides Perdue's little smoking ban really isn't much for us SMOKERS to worry about. Nothing in there that will effect me.

  11. I think they should have had a smoking ban a long time ago.I have owned my own business for 15 years and I dont hire smokers.

isn't that discrimination? Just curious but I think it might be.

You are discriminating against me and you don't even know me. Tell me where your business is so I know never to patronize that establishment again.

    PATHETIC!!!!

  12. I am greatful to all the men and women who wear a badge every day to work. from our jailors to our deputies to radio. They are wonderful people. I have many friends who are deputies in this county. I went to school with a few of them. Just because I disagree with their boss and have no problem openly admitting it. This is still a free country. I don't like Harris's politics. To say that he is still PC best choice is absurd. Hell I could do a better job then he could. Ken sure as hell could have done a better job. Just my opinion.

Bravo you know I have nothing but love for you and I respect you with everything I have much like I do all of those who carry a badge and work in the public view.

  13. I would like to give a big hardy thank you to all those who voted to re-elect the moron who currently holds the position of sheriff. You voted him in now sit back and relish in your great achievement of keeping the county in the 70's.....

  14. I will probably take the 18th and 19th off and go get in line on the 17th when I get off work. Is that to much? In the first one I stood in line for 28 hours just to have a guy come up with 10 minutes before the movie started and got a ticket. Talk about a waste. I could have stayed at home and walked up 10 minutes before the movie started and got a seat. Oh well it was worth it. Not hte first time I have stood in line over 12 hours to see something or for tickets to something. Stood in line for 13 hours for tickets to WCW wrestling event at the GA Dome one year.
