  1. This is not meant for debate on whether a certain subject listed is good or bad. It is just a few observations on a few things that I have seen over the past 50 years. Decriminalization of Marijuana: It was said that the decriminalization of marijuana, which started in the mid 70’s would lead to making marijuana legal. Proponents of the decriminalization of marijuana said this would not happen. Now almost 40 years later, who was correct? Sex in the movies and on TV: It was said that depicting more sex in the movies and on TV would lead to teens being more sexually active. Pr
  2. I quit, for the most part, watching TV news 20 something years ago when they all started doing commentary under the guise of reporting the news. Fox, CNN, ABC, CBS, NBC, NPR, MSNBC you name em, they all have an agenda. News reporting really went south when the news divisions started having to turn a profit. Also, now all "reporters" are looking to be "Woodward & Bernstein", so all they care about is making themselves look good and becoming the story themselves. (well, except for Diane Saywer) Just my two cents.
  3. My only point in starting this thread was that some people had said that announcements of layoffs with companies that had goverment contracts were being held till after the election. Others said that was not true. I think it has been proven to be true. That is all.
  4. Am I wrong or were there not people that said as soon as the election was over, then we would be seeing layoffs that were being held up till after Nov. 6th? And if memory serves me correctly, sometimes is doesn't, there were others that said this was poppycock. So is it just coincidence that withing two days of the election, what some predicted seems to be coming true? Or are we making something out of nothing?
  5. How could she have been drunk? She "ony had two drinks ossifer".
  6. In the words of the King (and Hoyt Axton). Well I've never been to Spain But I kind of like the music Say the ladies are insane there And they sure know how to use it The don't abuse it Never gonna loose it I can't refuse it Well, I've never been to England But I kind of like the Beatles So I headed for Las Vegas Only made it out to Lido's Can you feel it Must be weary Oh so good... oh feel so good Well I've never been to heaven But I've been in Oklahoma Well, they tell me I was born there But I really don't remember In Oklahoma or Arizona What does it matter What
  7. First, only myself or myself and my wife ever hears me say this. I like using peckerhead. If I am really on a roll, a redheaded peckerhead. ETA: Before anyone gets to upset, this is what my granddad called a red headed woodpecker.
  8. 9. Here is Paul Harvey's take on where this country was headed, from April 3, 1965 (47 years ago). Sadly, he was right. Paul Harvey
  10. I am a native american, my parents were native americans, my grandparents were native americans, my greatgrandparents were native americans, my great-greatgrandparents were native americans. We were all born here. The is no 100% native american, not even the Indians, they came from Russia across the Bering Strait. Off my soapbox now, please continue with your regularly scheduled topic.
  11. You mean it doesn't taste like chicken?
  12. No. But thank you for asking. If you do not already know what they are, then my listing them here will serve no purpose. I did not write this post to debate, as I said, these are my thoughts. Agree with them, disagree with them, agree with some and disagree with others, your choice. I have two grandkids ages 3 & 4, a 19 year old son, a 28 year old step-daughter and a 30 year old step-son. My concerns are about the kind of country and world these young ones will live in. I do not think that having Obama as a president for 4 more years will cause the end of the US. But I do think
  13. I am sorry that you have these issues. My question to LGM was not based on medical use. I was just curious because they stated they did not smoke pot, but were for making it legal. I was wondering if the fact that is was illegal had anything to do with them personaly not smoking. I know several people who are in the service that would smoke pot if legal, but as it is illegal they cannot, because of random drug testing. They cannot even be around someone smoking it as 2nd hand smoke can show up in a test.
  14. This also may be simplistic, but that does not prevent it from being true. One more thought, most of those who were born after 1963 have no idea how far removed this country is from what it was before. Yes, we have made great strides in civil rights and some other areas. But sadly we have moved so far away from the beliefs, ideas, morals, work ethic and, in my opinion the most important area, the conviction that some things are right and some things are wrong and that each person is responsible for their own lives and their own welfare. It is my opinion that these are the principles t
  15. Sadly the stealing of flowers from our loved one's graves is nothing new. I know this has been going on for at least 30 years, because that is when I saw it happen the 1st time. The first time I saw this was at a family memember's funeral in Forsyth County, some of the family returned to visit the grave site within an hour of the services being concluded. There was not one flower left. By the way, it does not matter what county, I have seen this happen in Cobb, Cherokee, Gwinnett and Forsyth counties. A lot of funeral directors now make mention of this to the families so that they can ma
  16. Read my post about the cost for the season that he went to trial. As I said, like any business that gets passed on to the consumer, which is me.
  17. I would if I had paid the plumber and he took my money and never did any work. That is what Vick did.
  18. Last night my son and I were discussing the election, it was the 1st time he voted. He voted for Obama, I told him don't let that get you down, we all screw up the 1st one, I voted for Carter in my 1st election.
