  1. The point is that sending out mailers to let the people know what their representative is doing has been around since the 17th century. That is what this is and Stout had the right to do it and he did it the right way. All representatives do this and talk about bills "passed" but may not eventually have been implemented. Every politician does this and I would hope you're going to give the same scrutiny to other legislative updates as you are to this one. You are proving the point that this thread is not about the legitimacy of the mailer but the politics of a campaign. That is what I have
  2. I think it is a good use of tax payer money because it keeps us informed as to what our elected leaders are doing. The Franking Privilege goes back to the 1775 when the Founding Fathers set it up even before the nation was founded. The Franking Privilege has never been questioned during any depression or "bad" economic time, but it is in this thread. I think the fair thing to do would be to not have to wait until post 35 to get the "all ok" out. Maybe you can get a moderator to edit your original post. That way everybody can see immediately there was nothing wrong with the mailer and peopl
  3. Can we all agree that we at least have a different opinion and that all opinions are allowed? There is a reason I didn't enter politics and this is a good example. That. Is. All.
  4. When we execute someone, we are taking the most extreme action of depriving that person of all rights, even life itself. That's why we give that person every chance to prove innocence, even if it costs a lot of money and takes a long time. We've executed far too many innocent people and once done, can't be fixed. Our whole capital punishment system is set up because we prize liberty and had rather have guilty people go free than to have a single innocent person deprived of liberty. Values are a bitch sometimes but if we believe in liberty, we have to be willing to let some guilty people go fre
  5. It's more expensive to execute them than to have them in prison for life.
  6. I don't know what the examiner site is. Somebody help me here. I really don't understand why anyone wouldn't go on web TV to face an accusation and clear the air. The only reason would be if there is something to hide or if the person felt inferior in being able to discuss an issue. There might be other reasons but I can't think of any. I don't understand this at all.
  7. Wasn't it you who said Will Avery was wrong to run for office to get more money from it since he is making education a priority and his wife is a teacher? So here are two candidates who will certainly not be getting money from it, but you call it a stunt? I think you're being very inconsistent here.
  8. We travel at least once a year and have used a travel agency since 1999. Wouldn't do it alone for anything, anymore. They handle it all. All I have to do is show up at the airport. For weekend or short trips, I use AAA. We're going to Riviera Maya next month. Can't wait to spend 7 nights and 8 days doing nothing but nothing and nothing else.
  9. I am not understanding your analogy. Would Bank of America allow Regions to put a booth in its lobby to talk to the customers? I am not sure how all this paulding.com works but I'm pretty sure no other business would allow that either.
  10. Can I get a "hell yeah!" OK. I was trying to be funny after 2 glasses of wine already.
  11. I found 2 more articles that say the same thing. MSNBC Science Daily
  12. The senior citizens can pray but the company cannot provide the forum for the prayer. In other words, the company that gets tax money can't say, "OK, let's have a prayer." The company can do a compromise like the moment of silence, but they can't have a prayer time. Tax money also comes from non-believers and they have the right to not have their tax money advance religion, just like I wouldn't want to see that company have a time to sacrifice an animal in homage to a god before they eat a meal on my dime either. Sorry, but I agree with this one.
  13. What's up, girl? You traded with Lisa for this Sunday's nursery duty to go to this concert. Your hubby loves the Gipsey Kings. What's up?
  14. Never had a problem with Dr. Wehunt. Always liked him. He laughed a lot with me but that might be because I joked around with him too. Will miss his practice.
  15. Why, oh why, would anyone venture out in this?
  16. So far. The neighbor's kids are here playing video games and have been for 16 hours, since yesterday at 6:00. They didn't even go to sleep last night and my kids did the same. Is there a pest control company that advertises on here?
  17. As if someone would care about what you thought of the tactics? Self-grandiose, are we? The debate was interesting. I know the least worst of the three and that is for whom I plan on voting. Other than that, that's the entire depth I discuss on this board about politics of any sort.
  18. I've been busy for the last few weeks but I know why I've not been around much. It's because a certain political group has all but taken over this place and any moderates to left leaners be damned.
  19. As long as the didn't ban any books, it was a good meeting.
  20. Damn. There goes one of my 14 vices I have to give up.
  21. I think this might be a wake up call to Americans because we don't always do it the "best" way or even the "right" way. The diet of Mediterranean peoples has shown to be more healthy than what we Americans eat, and beneficial, including those areas associated with aging. Good for the Europeans. Bad for the Southern Baptists with the pot lucks and no alcohol.
