  1. The point is the school does not have discretion any more and you keep saying they do.
  2. Police and the DA have discretion. The school doesn't. The police and DA have discretion. You do understand the difference between those two and the school? I would suggest you call the media or hire a lawyer when the school doesn't follow the law.
  3. Pizza and beer party with our friends for a Sunday of football, football, and more football.
  4. Adults are far worse patients than children anyway. Adults and tonsils are not a good story line.
  5. The law doesn't allow for discretion. The school has to follow the law or it, too, is a lawbreaker. They are educated enough to know they have to follow the law and the law doesn't allow for any discretion.
  6. The principal has to follow the law. If the student hurt some other student with the knife later on, the principal would be in serious trouble. Blame the people who made these laws, not the school.
  7. That stuff is spelled out in the Student Handbook and the teachers go over this every year. If a kid didn't know, he wasn't listening. If a parent doesn't know, they aren't reading the material.
  8. Everybody wanted the "get tough" laws with the students. Well, this is what happens when politicians make laws like this. Can't blame the school because that is the law passed by the elected state representatives. Look at the political party that used those Zero Tolerance Laws to get votes. Blame the right people.
  9. If HE didn't know, why are YOU asking on here? Never mind. Not important.
  10. No need to be so pissy. After the kid finds out where it goes, ask him if you want to know. I just prefer my kids learn how to be adults early on in non-important matters.
  11. I'll take your word for that part. I'm just saying what I expect from my kids. Everyone is different. I guess every school is different, too.
  12. A 12 year old should be responsible enough to be given a note and told to talk to his teachers to figure out which one it goes to, get it to the right teacher, and handle this for himself. Just my opinion but my kids did this for themselves and never had a problem.
  13. Other counties around Paulding have these. Why Paulding doesn't is a good question.
  14. I wasn't being rude. I was only making a serious statement and the typed word doesn't convey the smile behind it. Sorry the smile the was taken for a slight towards you.
  15. Don't take this the wrong way but my insurance policy gives me a discount for being in immediate vicinity of "non-aggressive breed dogs." Don't ask me how they know what my neighbors have as pets but as long as it costs me $50 less every 6 months, stay the hell out of my sub-division.
  16. A middle schooler should be able to figure this one out for himself. Give him the note. Tell him to figure out which teacher it should go to.
  17. Wonder if that is what Trayvon did, too?
  18. Then those people who are cutting back are poor businessmen. This is the time to expand when the incentives are there. Those incentives go away in a few years. I know of several businessmen who are expanding their operations right now.
  19. If that is the case, you are crazy not to use the HSA. You are throwing money away by not using it. You really need to talk to your HR department about how the HSA works. An HSA is not in place of insurance but an addition to it.
  20. HSAs work best for people who are not wealthy. You might want to check into how the HSA works because paying the deductible with cash, it is the same cost as using the HSA. You get it at a cheaper cash rate and you get to keep the HSA money for tax free distribution later on. After I went to some educational meetings on how HSAs work and was shown how to use it, it is the best thing ever, since I get the favorable tax treatment for all expenses, a cheaper medical services cost, and tax free money at retirement. Should something happen and I need to use the HSA money early because I can't pay t
  21. Maybe I didn't make myself clear. Damned typing doesn't give nuance. I wasn't directing my comments at you but just in general.
  22. Health insurance will be a requirement soon. If there is no insurance, there are options available. Same with life insurance since you can get that outside work. Retirement is the employees responsibilty, not the employer. If you don't like the holidays and vacation policy, quit and find another job.
  23. Democrats are not for an invasion of Syria. The support is for very limited action, very narrow in its focus, very short term, and only designed to diminish the capacity of the regime to deliver WMD. This is not a boots on the ground operation. It is a message that says genocide will not be tolerated by civilized people. This is a message, not an invasion or a regime change. This is diametrically opposite than Iraq.
