  1. The author is dead on the money. Eisenhower attended one justice's funeral but skipped another. Bush attended Rehnquist's. So 2/3 of the time in the last 50 years, the president attends the funeral. Biden may have been closer to the family of Scalia but Obama should have attended in place of Uncle Loony Tunes Biden.
  2. I've never made my politics known because it is usually not something I think is all that important. In this election, it is.
  3. This is exactly my point. This is the statement too many are making and it sounds, looks, and smells like partisan politics. It will destroy us in the general election. Scalia was all about the original document and if the founders didn't mean for the president or senate to confirm a nominee in an election year, they would have said so. As you're saying it, it has everything to do with politics and not with what is best for the country. Come on. You're making our party look bad, obstructionist, and petty.
  4. Probably. That does not make it any less wrong or more right when we do it. Bottom line is it makes us look more like the Party of No label they threw at us all along.
  5. As much as I want t believe otherwise, saying Obama should not appoint a replacement for Scalia because it is an election year makes it look like we're being partisan in hopes of having a Republican make the next appointment. The Constitution says the president has the authority to do it and the Senate has to confirm or deny. It doesn't matter if this is an election year or not, the court still needs to function at its best and that is with all nine justices. If we start saying "no" all over again and make it look like we're just playing politics, it is going to hurt us in November. There have
  6. Oh God. The Constitution was advanced under Scalia and Hillary would destroy it with any appointment. Sanders would be even worse if he got to appoint anybody.
  7. Justice Scalia was a true Constitutionalist and he will be missed. Thank God we have a Republican controlled Senate to stop him.
  8. You need to contact the pediatrician and that office can give you a referral that will work with your insurance.
  9. All I'm saying is that a mid scale restaurant won't work here because of the prices. I gave McKendrick's as an example because my husband has taken me there for our anniversary once and we really liked it, but it is not the kind of place we can afford to go to regularly. There are plenty of low end casual dining places here but I would like to think that maybe one day the county can support better quality places.
  10. Well, that is a dinner for two with drinks and tip of $40 to $50.
  11. Don't just read a book. Talk to someone. Get a counselor who can guide you through this because they deal with this all the time and can really help. Your primary care would be a great referral source and your insurance will most likely pay for most if not all of it. Talk to someone who is trained in this, and I mean really trained, not a pastor or sunday school teacher.
  12. I'm just saying that some people confuse things that happen with the quality of the community and the hospital where the patient is taken. Shootings happen in DeKalb and Clayton and Fulton just like they happen in Paulding or Cobb or Forsyth.
  13. That's about the right price range for McKendricks. $200+ for dinner with tip. That's what a mid scale place is going to run and I agree that such a place wouldn't work here. Unfortunately, that is what mid level restaurants cost. Carrabba's is still a low end casual dining. It's better than what you can get frozen from the grocery store but it is still prepackaged food they heat and serve.
  14. This is not a reflection on the hospital! This was an incident. It happened. Things like this happen everywhere and it doesn't reflect our community! The people that work with me sometimes get lumped in with the bad things that happen but we take care of the patient and have no control over how it happened. I hope no one is thinking that something like this is a bad reflection on the hospital or the county. We take a lot of pride in our facility and what we do!
  15. We already have too many fast food and fast casual places now. The best we have is very low end of the casual dining, like O'Charley's and such. The closest thing we have to mid scale is Olive Tree and I don't think many would classify it anywhere near mid tier. A Golden Corral would just add to the budget style places. I do wish we could have at least a mid tier place, with an ample beer and wine list, something along the lines of a McKendricks.
  16. Testosterone? You may want to re-evaluate how you discuss members. I have more estrogen in my body than any girlie girl in these parts. And for the record any idiot that would post falsehoods and not think anything about it is not someone who has any credibility whatsoever. Funny or not, truth should be explained first.
  17. Grazing rights is the basis of this militia group's complaint.
  18. I can't speak for Dr. Breckwoldt's office but I've heard some good things about him and his staff. The reason you can't get new patient apt with East Paulding Primary is that they lost some physician staff and are trying to bring in new ones. It is going to take a bit since getting a new doctor is really a big deal. They are a good practice at East Paulding and that is where my family goes but being a Wellstar employee means I'm always going to be a bit biased. Good luck to you!
  19. Went to the Steakhouse once but didn't think it was something to try a second time. It was ok but nothing to gush over. Never been to the Pizza Farm. Where is it? What does it serve? Specialties are pizza?
  20. This sounds completely different than what we heard this morning Jesus said. It is the exact opposite.
  21. I don't believe the cure for cancer has been found. That's just crazy talk. The metformin is used for a lot of things so I would take it if the doctor says you should. You can always stop it later. My dad took metformin for a while and came off it when the weight came down. He goes back on it every year or so just as a preventative for the weight. His primary said there was no problem with that and the doctors I work with at the hospital said the same thing. I'm leery of all the homeopathic stuff but if you want to give it a shot, go for it. Don't know of any though. Good luck to you!
  22. You're just raising your blood pressure and will never make any headway. Why are you doing this to yourself?? I get it that you're idealistic thought it won't get you nothing but an ulcer if you keep it up.
