  1. I've seen plenty of pumps around (not sure exactly where, but in GA for sure) that say up to 15%. Not only is that moonshine bad for your car, it really messes with smaller engines like boats lawnmowers and weedeaters. Make sure you don't store a motor for long with that stuff in it.
  2. 1993 Explorer Great car - I drove it from 2001 until last year. It has 190,000 miles. All original (except little things like radiator, water pump, starter, etc.) No AC due to a coolant leak, but runs great otherwise. I loved that car, and took really good care of it, but when I was able to buy a low milage 99 Toyota 4runner from a guy that absolutely babied it, I couldn't resist. Here's the best part: its for sale! My parents have it and drive it sometimes so its not just sitting. Both bumpers have been hit, but no body damage. If you want it, make an offer.
  3. The only lamb I've cooked, I just put in the oven. It was already seasoned, so there was no prep involved. I got it at Trader Joes. If you are starting with a regular rack of lamb, I'd suggest Alton Brown's recipe: http://www.foodnetwork.com/recipes/good-eats/crown-roast-of-lamb-recipe/index.html I haven't tried it, but I've never had a recipe of his fail me. In case you didn't know it, he actually lives in Marietta.
  4. One shot to the head is too risky. If any of you are ever in that situation, make sure you land one in the gut (center mass) before aiming for the head. A moving head can't be real easy to hit, so pick the bigger target first. Feel free to finish him off to save the state from having to put him on trial or pay his medical bills.
  5. I left Canton Rd in Marietta at 4:30 and it was absolutely pouring. It reminded me of the floods here last year. I saw two wrecks on the way home - one on Barrett and one on Dallas Hwy. Everything was wet the whole way until I crossed into Paulding. You could tell it had rained, but a lot of the asphalt had already dried out. My grass needs some rain! Its still thundering here (near Macland and 120), but no rain since I've been home.
  6. We had to call and get them to tell us how to enter the info. Last Name, First Name sounds right The customer number also may not be so obvious on your bill. Call the water dept and they can straighten it out really quick.
  7. That is so horrible. I saw that ride on the new show "Bert the Conquerer" on the travel channel. It is definitely not something I would want to do. I didn't realize the net was not always in place, but that net is all you have to catch you. The rider is placed in a harness and lowered just below the drop point. The harness is then let go and you fall freely down to the net. Without the net there you just hit the ground. They should at least have an airbag under the net or something. I don't expect that ride to ever reopen.
  8. Now the people I see texting and driving are holding the phone down in their lap where they think nobody can see it. They used to at least hold it near the wheel so they might could see the road in front of them. Many years ago I was riding with my girlfriend's family down I-75 and her father read the classifieds in the paper while driving. I've also seen people reading books.
  9. I grew up in Rome, and I don't really have any profound suggestions. Schroeders is great for sandwiches. Really good chicken salad sandwich, although I prefer the roast beef roll (toasted pita); the sandwiches come with bean sprouts unless you ask for lettuce. Landmark diner is very hit or miss. Sometimes it is great and sometimes horrible. I didn't ever know it, but I think its a chain because I saw another "Landmark Diner" that looked just like it near Buckhead. We used to eat at Tangs Garden regularly, but I haven't been in years. There is a good chinese buffet at Turner McCall and
  10. http://www.fatmattsribshack.com/ Its on Piedmont. Nothing fancy; order at the counter and they bring it to you. Its a small place, so be prepared to wait a minute if you go during the rush. You should be able to get out of there around $20 total. They usually have a blues band there as well. Its the best barbecue around.
  11. Get as far away as you can from "big monster mega banks" as Clark Howard calls them. They are not there to work for you unless you have a huge business. Even then, you'd be better off with a local community bank. For your personal banking, the best thing you can do is go, no RUN to a credit union. We use Credit Union of Georgia, but that is because my wife is(was until this year) a teacher. http://www.creditunion.coop/how_to_join.html That will tell you how to join one. You'll have to find one you're eligible for, but that shouldn't be hard. If you get your power from Greystone, you
  12. Bring him to me. I've got some clippers and I cut my own hair down to about 3/8" on top and 1/4" on sides. You hold him down for 5 minutes and I won't charge a thing.
  13. The US purchased Jefferson's personal library to restart the library of congress after it was burned in the war of 1812. http://www.loc.gov/exhibits/jefferson/jefflib.html
  14. When they get caught, they need to be hit with all kinds of environmental laws for releasing all that R-22 into the atmosphere.
  15. I would go through the car again to make sure there was nothing missing they could use to steal your identity. Maybe they found a credit card, or something else that made them not want to steal much in hopes you wouldn't notice so they would have more time to do more damage.
  16. I called Ragsdale around 1:30 yesterday and told them exactly what Trane model I wanted installed. They said they would get back to me, but I haven't heard from them since. I guess they don't need the business.
  17. I haven't heard of there being a site to see a real time view. That could probably be used for too many nefarious ways to exist. In addition to Google Maps and Google Earth, I sometimes use Bing Maps (from Microsoft) http://www.bing.com/maps/default.aspx?q=maps&mkt=en-US&FORM=BYFD The "bird's eye" view on bing usually has the best images and they have views from four different angles.
  18. Thanks for all of your help! I knew I could count on all of you. I found a guy in Rome that my dad recommended that found a Rheem unit for me that still accepts R-22 Freon. We won't have to replace the evaporator at this time and getting us back running will only cost $1600. With our limited budget, this just makes the most sense at this time.
  19. In our case, replacing the whole unit for the tax credit does not make sense, although we will be switching the evap coil as well for the aforementioned reasons. I was just quoted $3600 for a new bottom of the line 3 ton, 13 seer Trane XB13 and matching coil (the coil can't be a Trane because they are too tall for out attic). I'm still looking into other companies as well.
  20. Our air broke two days ago and this morning the technician came out and couldn't get the compressor to start. The condensing unit is a 10 year old Lennox and not worth spending $1800 on replacing the compressor. The company that checked it is coming out today to give us a quote on replacing the condensing unit. Not to create a sob story, but we've lived in Paulding for a year and a half, so we don't really know who to trust. We don't really have much money since I'm still in college and my wife lost her teaching job with Paulding County because she was a second year teacher. We just n
  21. Please just don't try to come get me! I'm glad they also have the name of the guy because I'm: 25 years old white male 5-8 160 green eyes, but who really gets that close
  22. This is how capitalism and the free market is supposed to work. Companies that fail to innovate or remain profitable go out of business, and other companies take over their market share. Things get out of whack when the govt artificially props up their favorite businesses that should be out of business. There is a reason certain companies were meant to go.
  23. Just buy it online. For now, there is no sales tax collected at most online merchants unless they have a presence in our state. You are technically supposed to report these purchases and pay the sales taxes with your income tax but nobody does. Make sure you look for deals at http://slickdeals.net/ or somewhere similar and also look for coupons for things like free shipping, or a percentage off. I've actually found really good deals on Dells lately. My father in law got a really good new Dell laptop for $400 last December.
