  1. I stopped in this week and tried several of your items. Everything was delicious and I will be back in! I especially loved the eclairs....I have not had an eclair that good since I was a kid. I've tired several eclairs from different bakeries through the years but couldn't hold a candle to yours. :good: Also, my husband loved your fried sweet potato pie and he is hard to please.

  2. Zach, I'm sure you want to be a friend and think that this is just so hard on them but the fact is they committed crimes. The crimes really hurt people. Maybe they didn't hurt people physically but they harmed people financially in many ways. These are not "kids." They are more than old enough to know better. They didn't make "a mistake" but committed crimes, crimes that I and my husband told our children were wrong from the time they were old enough to hear my voice. They don't need empathy. They need a swift kick in the ass and some good, old-fashioned punishment. People are fed up with this sort of crap. They thought only of themselves and the rest of us really don't give much of a damn about their punishment. They will be tried. They will be given a fair trial. They will have their rights protected. And, if they are found guilty, they should serve the punishment.

You seem to confuse compassion with a lack of anger over what they've done. We're mad. We've had this sort of crap done to innocent people too many times. If they felt so calloused towards people as to steal from them and then ruin their credit with fraud, then I'm sorry but they deserve some anger directed toward them and their actions. Sure, we have compassion but that doesn't mean we aren't fed up with that sort of stuff and the people that do these things.

We've had it. Up. To. Here.

And we're glad they've been caught.

And we'll be even more glad when they serve their time.

We will have plenty of time to talk about compassion after we get over our anger.

  3. I did that when I was about that age. A couple of the buses changed routes and I didn't know it. I got on the wrong bus and I noticed I didn't recognize any of the kids. I just sat there on the bus quietly until a neighbor chased the bus down looking for me. That was way before the drivers had a radio system to talk to each other. It frightened my mom and the neighbor. I bet the little girl today did about the same thing.

  4. You can also fix a roast in the crock pot and roast will make at least a couple of meals. Place medium size roast in crock pot, pour a bottle of Heinz Chili sauce (like a spicy ketshup), and pour one can coke on top. Cook in the crock pot 6 to 8 hours on low until done. It makes a wonderful tasting sauce. You can also add vegetables in the pot too.

You can also fix ramens noodles and leave some of the water in the pot. While it is still on the stove, mix in a scrammbled egg and keep stirring until the egg cooks (it won't take long). Then remove from the heat and add in the seasoning packet. This makes a quick egg drop kind of soup.

Also do beef and cabbage and make jiffy cornbread to go along with it. All you do is chop up the cabbage, boil it, drained the water but leave a little water in the pot, add some butter and add a can of corned beef. Heat a little longer to heat up the beef. Tastes wonderful and is really cheap to make.

  5. I would have to say that I would love to try the coconut cake and the eclairs. They are two of my favorites!

If you want to catch the breakfast crowd during the week, you would have to open early. Most people drive into Marietta or Atlanta and have to get an early jump on the traffic to make it on time. However, staying open late would be good too. All those people travelling back home cannot not make it back until late. I'm sure after you get a feel for it you will be able to determine which hours are a waste to stay open. I would think Mondays and Fridays would be the best days to catch the working crowd. Most people need help breakfast / dinner wise on Mondays to get the week started and then they do not feel like cooking on Fridays.

I'm looking forward to seeing you open.....good luck!

  6. Even though twleve is the legal age it also depends on how mature the child acts in an emergency situation. Make sure to have discussions on never letting anyone in the house no matter what they say at the door. I have a son that has always handled things in a mature fashion (alot of common sense) and I had talks with him. Yet he sacred me when he admitted almost letting a stranger into the house. He unlocked the dead bolt and before he could unlock the handle the man tried getting in. Luckily he didn't get in and my son discovered while he was at the front door there was a woman at our carport looking around. You just have to make sure to constantly remind her to never let someone in the house and not be afraid to call the police. Kids can also be afraid that if they call the police and the stranger is gone by the time the poilce get there then they wil be in trouble. Make sure she knows the police will not be upset if she was honestly afraid.

  7. I don't know if this is a good price or will help. But this was posted in the Douglas County Happenings email letter.
