At the risk of offending RM, people are stupid. It's almost as if some people never mature. I know we probably all have similar stories, but I can remember my kids doing things when they were little and denying it, all the while the evidence was all over their hands and/or face (AKA the great cookie dough incident of 1992). Sadly, there are "adults" out there that seem to process things the same way, and it may make perfect sense in their heads.

It is a stupid question because most parents would want their kid home regardless of the cost. And, yeah . . . if the American in captivity expressed his disgust and embarrassment at being an American, then abandoned his post, in a war zone, to go over to the enemy, he could be left there to rot for all I care. And, FYI, I have engaged in conversation, but will not hesitate to take it the direction that others choose. So I got it, schmuck! ↑↑↑↑↑ Exactly what I think when reading most of your posts.

Yeah his family was proactive - that's certainly one way to put it. Time was not a consideration because there was no way the taliban would withdraw their demands. And what a stupid question, "if it was your son . . ." blah, blah, blah. Anyone here, even if their child had killed someone, would want their kid to be safe no matter what. That's what a parent does. But it doesn't make it the right thing.

cmorg replied to CitizenCain's topic in RECENT TOPICS
Wow, this is news. Based on the quote from the NRA, they are correct and the open carry group needs to wake up and quit playing cry baby. -
I would say I don't know because I don't know.

You have a deal. Just show me examples of my alleged "bigoted hypocrite conservative logic." I'll wait. -
This guy left his unit and his country behind. And this proves that, despite him being a sorry SOB, they tried to find him. Your right to what, exactly? Aside from your right to make stupid statements, that is. Not surprised that eddie posted more nonsense, just surprised it took this long. Did you sleep in today? Should this guy have been left in the hands of the taliban? Probably not, but the price to get him back doesn't seem worth it. I am sure his family is happy, and good for them. If there is any justice, they can visit him in jai

In other words, our "hate America" president shouldn't have worked out a deal with "hate America" terrorists to get back a "hate America" deserter.

Your last sentence captures your mindset of the entire affair, because that is what people like you say that conservatives think and feel. And I suppose you seeing burning crosses was . . . just in passing . . . right? Was this lately? And does that make you an authority . . . or put you in a position to properly judge a person's character? Because you read some stuff, and you've seen some things? Back up your comments. Post the comments that supported bundy and his racist comments.

I know what any informed person knows, that there are low-level talks by the state departments trying to find a resolution to this situation. While the policy is something along the same lines when dealing with enemy POWs, or in this case captured terrorists, the administration chose to forego the rules and do what they wanted to do.

Keep the stupid liberal "logic" at home. Unless you are totally stupid (and I know you are not), you know there are gun laws in place and that she didn't suggest there need not be any. She is simply making the point that only honest people follow the rules, yet that's all people like you talk about when crimes happen - more rules. -
Why the hell did the president trade five terrorists to get back an army deserter? Yet not a finger is lifted to get a Marine back from the Mexican circus? Thoughts?

I like the way you think!

Another example of why the death penalty...
cmorg replied to cookies are sweet's topic in RECENT TOPICS
To say that the threat of any type of punishment is a deterrent is to speak only of rational, logical - good people (though some make mistakes). The serious offenders, those that we are most concerned about, they do not care about the laws, or the punishment for breaking the law. There are some that should be locked away or put to death. But our system sucks. So, do we risk killing someone who may be innocent or do we risk allowing the innocent to be killed because we did not punish the guilty? -

I will "rationalize" this in pubby-ish terms: He would point out the cases where someone received the death penalty and was later found to be innocent based on new DNA evidence, and that the death penalty is flawed. He would go on to say that we (conservatives) would love to hang everyone for every crime and give them a trial later. Because he can't resist. And don't forget: we're all racists, bigots, and homophobes. -
In this situation, as in so many others, pubby and citizencain are completely wrong and have let their liberal views blind them. We were against the sudden "concern" that the govt had over these fees and the need to send an army of heavily armed federal agents to collect the fees or clear the land. The "armed farmers ready to gun down federal agents" (a comment that illustrates such a disconnect) simply showed up at a demonstration and were well within their rights to have guns with them. It should be noted that there were no incidents involving the demonstrators and/or guns. N

Persecution Is A Mistreatment (Slander), Based On Untruth
cmorg replied to Eddie Bennett's topic in RECENT TOPICS
You make an interesting point. If a poster creates numerous new topics everyday, the odds are good that at least one will be near the top of the recent topics list. Of course, we (I) don't help the matter much when I post in the topics. So the question is: what, if anything, can/should be done about it? -

Well I am guilty of making up my own reality. Ask my wife . . . I am always telling her how great and wonderful and handsome I am. -

At the risk of persecuting or slandering you, you are wrong again. And that, my friend, is not perception - it is reality. -
Persecution Is A Mistreatment (Slander), Based On Untruth
cmorg replied to Eddie Bennett's topic in RECENT TOPICS
Persecution is the organized, systematic mistreatment of a person or group by another person or group. Slander is making false and/or damaging statements about a person or group/organization. Based on these definitions, I cannot tell if you think you are being persecuted (and if so, based on what?) or if you think you have been or are being slandered (and if so, how?). I suppose what I get from your opening post where you said, "I am a person who finds truth in any place it is written, myself, and I don't care who spoke that truth." is that you go and find the "truths" that fit wha -
Yes and no. I always thought there was something going on, but the movie put it out there!!
